The Blue Sea Costa Bastian is a 4* hotel situated in the resort of Costa Teguise which is a great all year round place to visit. The hotel itself, as mentioned in the description is located about half an hours walk (at strolling pace) from the main town but is only €5 or so in a taxi which can easily be arranged at reception. There is also a bus that runs regularly from the hotel to the centre which I believe costs €1. The hotel isn't massively appealing at first glance & the surrounding area is a picture of half built hotels which is an unfortunate result of planning gone bad on the island. Having said this it shouldn't spoil your stay in any way & the coastal path can be reached within a short 10 minute walk which offers much more scenic views. Room wise I would say they are pretty average of most Spanish hotels with a 3/4* rating. You are offered a fridge & we found plenty of space for clothes in our Double room. The balcony offered a slight view of the sea although I wouldn't be classing it as a sea view. For me the bed was uncomfortable which was slightly disappointing but again I was fairly happy with the general cleanliness of the room for 'most' of our stay. The pool area is probably where we spend most of our time & this probably does bump the hotel up to its current rating. There are 2 main pools with one catering for the adults with waterfalls offering a refreshing alternative to the heat. The other pool is for children with 3 slides which both kids & adults seemed to enjoy & certainly enough to keep the kids entertained all day. The pool was freezing but it is worth remembering we were visiting in November & it was welcome some mornings if I was a little delicate from the night before. There are 2 jaccuzi style pools which are not heated & one wasn't working at all for our entire stay. There is a snack bar around the pool area offering lunchtime style snacks as well as snacks for the all inclusive guests such as hot dogs, burgers, chips as well as the usual Cheese/Meats. Food wise all I would say is I have stayed at other Blue Sea hotels & found the food to be much better quality. It is fair to say there is enough choice but nothing really made me think I was getting good value for my money during my stay. Breakfast was enjoyable enough with the usual offerings but the food quality in the evening just wasn't good enough for me. The main bar offers all inclusive drinks up until midnight from 10am the draught beer for all inclusive guests is San Miguel & it is good to see this not being served in the tiny plastic cups that most places offer & you can also have a glass in the evening if remaining in the Terrace/Bar area. 90% of the staff were friendly & welcoming but I do think a couple of the bar staff do forget to remember that you are on your holidays but I enjoyed talking to the local bar staff during my stay. In terms of entertainment I would say the same again as I have about the food. I have stayed at the Blue Sea Resort in Tenerife & the entertainment was second to none but again I must say this isn't peak season & we chose to stay awaybfrom the typical Bird, Lizard & Circus Skills shows & enjoyed conversation on the terrace with other guests. I did enjoy the Spanish dancing themed nights & Karaoke though... I was disappointed towards the end of our stay & had to report the fact that an army of bugs seemed to have taken refuge in our wooden headboard & chose to invade our beds which wasn't a comfortable thought when getting to sleep. At first they just provided us with some insect spray but I insisted that the beds were changed & that the insects were dealt with. I am used to being abroad & dealing with the usual ants, mosquitos or cockroaches but these were unacceptable in my opinion having stayed in a lot of foreign hotels. All in all Ihad an enjoyable stay & would say that the hotel is middle of the road vs others I have stayed at. We had great company which is what I mean when I say it is what you make it. If you are looking for all year round Sun, great pool & are not too bothered about having an amazing room or food then this place is worth a thought.
Booked to stay here was very happy on arrival good check in . Room was excellent clean maid came in every day best holiday room we have ever stayed in towels changed when you left them on the bath beds maid every day . Plenty of sun beds but we was out of full season .but they was being reserved with towels even though signs said you was not allowed. As we was half bored can not comment on food at pool bar . But we had breakfast and everning meal plenty of choices teas coffee in the morning wine beer soft drinks at main meals main meals had theam nights fish steaks cooked fresh while you wait pancakes . Pool erea clean tidy . Good entertainment for children adults staff all very friendly and willing to help . Only one problem with this hotel was you get an everning meal when you arrive and breakfast on last day so if you have a late pick up you have to then pay having spent money on lunch snacks drinks thought you would be allowed lunch time food as there are no bars just outside hotel. The hotel is a half hour walk to Costa teguisie sea fron shops we walk in good walk best on sea front taxi is only about 5 Euro to come back unless you like the walk hotel offers a 1 Euro return ticket on the bus but last bus back is about 4.15 . This is a great hotel we will be back a s a p
we returned from this hotel 5 days ago and will defiantly be returning, ignore the bad reviews, they must have been staying in a different hotel to the one we did, we travelled as a family of 4, me my hubby and 2 kids aged 23 month and age 9, we have been abroad many times and this was much better than I was expecting, food was good, freshly made pizzas made right in front of you, fresh pancakes which my 9 year old loved, snack bar was great, you cant go hungry here, plenty of choice, we were all inclusive and were not disappointed at all, my 9 year old loved the pool, slides kept him entertained, this is a beautiful place to visit, beach just 15 minutes walk with bars and shops on the way, we hired a car from the car rental place behind the hotel, use the exit behind the mini golf to find the little shop with it, much cheaper car hire than using the hotel one, transfer was nice and easy just 20 minutes in a private taxi, I don't know why people are saying the staff are rude, we found them very nice and friendly, some people are clearly just never happy judging some of the bad reviews, if I had to say anything negative it would be that the night entertainment could be better but this never bothered us as we didn't stay up late with having the kids, our room was cleaned every day, we couldn't have asked for a better holiday at the price we paid
I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights on a full board basis. The first thing I will say is that the hotel does not live up to it's 4 star rating, so if you go expecting 4 star facilities, you will be disappointed. The main thing I noticed is that the only reference to 'Blue Sea' hotel is on the front of the building...many things in the hotel are branded as 'Diverhotel' such as sunbeds, shower curtains, in-room signage. Note that you should ask for Diverhotel if you get a taxi as the drivers rarely recognise the hotel's current name. The pros for this hotel are the rooms and the pool area...both clean and well presented...although TVs need updating in the rooms. The food is ok(ish), I found many of the dishes cold and salty but I understand that it's difficult to cater for everyone. The big letdown for me was the staff. I found the bar, restaurant and cleaning staff all very disengaged and not very friendly. I had an incident at breakfast where I went for some fresh eggs and they were all piled on top of each other and not presented well, i moved a couple of them to find one that I liked the look of and the chef started shouting at me! I complained to the restaurant manager and she had a word with him but I felt really upset after the altercation. The bar staff were similarly disinterested and made no attempt to make me feel welcome. The entertainment was pretty poor too, although the acrobatic show is ok. The main resort is a nice pleasant 20 minute walk away, use the gate through the minigolf for a more pleasant walk with bars and restaurants on route. I'm leaving having enjoyed my holiday but will never return to this hotel...EVER!
The place needs a renovation to be a 4 star. Loose floor tiles and cracks in walls. Staff are friendly but the food isn't the best alot of guests complaining about undercooked food. Rooms and pool area are cleaned daily. Rooms are hot with only ceiling fans that don't really work. Some guests just can't help but reserve sunbeds by the pool... they even use pegs to hold their towels down.. very windy in November
We stayed at this hotel for a week at the end of October, I booked our holiday earlier in the year and the reviews seemed ok, as the holiday got nearer I looked again and I'll be honest I was beginning to dread the holiday, what had I paid out for. In the end I stopped looking at the reviews as there was nothing I could do and we will just have to make the best of it. I'm not going to lie, when we were driving towards the hotel there were quite a few derelict buildings and unfinished hotels which didn't look great, but in fairness this is nothing to do with the hotel and there are plenty of nice areas around too. Once we entered the hotel it looked lovely, staff were really helpful, we were a bit early for the check in, however one of our rooms was ready so we were given this room and told the other room would be ready in 10 minutes. when we went to the room, again we were pleased, they were a decent size, very clean, normal complementary bath and shower bits, towels, dressing gowns, TV, kettle with tea and coffee and a fridge. The only strange bit was the beds, they were lovely and comfortable but the 2 double beds were together as 1 huge bed, its was ok for us as a family of 4 with young children, might be a strange if 2 couples were sharing a room though??? might be worth seeing if the beds could be separated with a bedside cabinet?? The pool area was great, it was nice to have the lifeguard keeping an eye on everyone. Yes there were a few missing tiles, there were no broken tiles so no sharp edges and to seemed completely safe (I will add that the tiles are tiny mosaic ones and out of the tens of thousands of tiles there was probably 40 in total missing) what do people expect the hotel to do, drain the pool and replace them peak season??? I am sure that would cause more complaints!!! Everyday day there was daytime entertainment, rifle shooting, archery, darts etc. all a bit of fun and free, and free crazy golf. If you walk through the crazy golf area you will find a back entrance to the hotel which makes the beech much quicker to get too. Food was plentiful and good, even my fussy children were loving the all inclusive, there was plenty of variety and even when we came down 9.50 one night (food finishes at 10) there was still a full spread of food available. Plenty of drinks to choose from too, including a couple of the cocktails included in the all inclusive. All the staff were more than happy to help with everything, and the entertainers worked really hard all week to make our stay enjoyable. Our rooms were cleaned daily, new towels daily, beds made and room tidied. This was our 1st ever all inclusive holiday and can say this exceeded my expectations, we are planning to return to this area again next year and will probably look to stay at this hotel again. Thank you for making our holiday so enjoyable.
We stayed 17th -24th October we really worried about the reviews thinking what have we done, but we felt the reviews where wrong, the hotel is a bit dated the rooms where cleaned every day though, pool area was cleaned every morning and surrounding areas, we could see they where trying to update some parts of the hotel. Food was ok for us plenty of it and a variety as some said a bit repetitive but always found something to eat. Pool area did have some loose or missing tiles, the life guards are strict with kids running and not letting inflatables down the slide I suppose he is trying to keep your kids safe and no accidents. Staff where always friendly we had a problem with the safe and they sorted the problem straight away, Overall we where happy with the hotel as I said a bit dated but clean and tidy and we are going back next year in July as we want to see the rest of the island.
I agree with all the other recent reviews about this hotel. We were dreading it after having read the reviews before we left and we had absolutely no expectations but we were pleasantly surprised. Yes the food was a bit repetitive but there was plenty of it. What do you expect for the money? It was clean and certainly good value for the £330 we paid each for half board plus for a week. We had planned on eating out each night anyway but found ourselves eating at the hotel for our evening meals. All in all, it was good value for a cheap week away. Don't believe the negative because they offer more than other hotels in the area (for example H10 no drinks included with half board for your meals).
We were really worried after reading the reviews. The hotel was very nice yes did need some updating but wasn't an issue. Staff were very friendly, rooms were cleaned everyday. Pool was great, my kids loved it. Food was good, great for kids to help themselves. Overall we really enjoyed our family holiday here. IGNORE THE BAD REVIEWS
