Alcadima is consistently rated one of the best hotels in Lanjaron and in the region and deservedly so. Apart from some renovations it has hardly changed in the years that we have been going to the Alpujarra. The hotel is "old fashioned" in its way but that with its quaint layout is part of its charm. The basic rooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean, as is the case with most Spanish hotels, and the courtyards are full of plants. There is a swimming pool and a charming restaurant, serving good food. There is parking right by the hotel and it is easily accessed from the rear. As the streets in the town are often very narrow it is better to approach the parking from the large road that bypasses the main street if one is not accustomed to driving in Andalucia. The staff are helpful. friendly and welcoming. Service in the restaurant is sometimes a bit slow but as one is usually sitting out sipping wine or beer while one waits that is never a problem! The wi-fi is adequate in the rooms and more than so in the courtyard. The suites are excellent and great value. This is a lovely, charming place to stay at any time of year. In the autumn and early winter it can get cold at night but the inside restaurant is cozy and relaxing. Will certainly be back! And soon!
Stayed for just one night at the start of a long hike. The hotel is spread downhill and nothing seems to be on the same level as anything else, but this adds to the charm. The double room was a fairly dated but clean "mini-suite" with a terrace looking over the garden area and fountain. We were quite late to the dining room, they were about to close the kitchen but made us very welcome. It's a separate building at the back that opens up to the garden, really nice. We had a good set menu as i recall (though after the journey and a relaxing bottle of wine, I didn't recall much). It's tucked away down a side street, but the rear of the property backs on to the "by-pass" so as others have mentioned, it might get noisy right at the back, but the only thing heard in our room facing the courtyard was the fountain.
Fantastic staff - very friendly and helpful. The cheapest rooms are basement level and are meters from a highway, so they can be noisy. Rooms are basic and a little dated, but have a good amount of space and are clean. Great location in Lanjaron and close to lots of hiking trails. Parking lot behind the hotel is off highway and is not super secure (no obvious cameras or security) but it's free! Fantastic outdoor spaces - pool, patio and gardens in a lovely setting.
We stayed in the new 3 story building and our room was spacious and decorated nicely. Very clean with a private terrace and great mountain view overlooking a pretty patio and water fountain. Free parking available in rear of hotel. Front desk and restaurant staff very friendly and accommodating, although not fluent in English, they are well able to communicate especially with our broken Spanish;) Gorgeous flowers everywhere, great views, plenty of private seating places and wonderful pool. Romantic. The restaurant and eating areas are pretty nice. The hotel only received 4 stars rather than 5 as sometimes the restaurant was understaffed and the wait for food and service was too slow. Also the air conditioning in the room never cooled it quite enough so we would open the windows in the evening when it cooled down. We would recommend this hotel.
We loved the gardens and the pool. Our room was very pleasant too. We had a wonderful stay at the Alcadima. The restaurant is very elegant. But I am sorry to say that in my opinion the food did not live up to the expectations that ambience promised. The waiting staff worked hard but looked to be struggling to keep up with the number of customers. Perhaps more staff is needed? Breakfast was OK. But hot food could have been hotter and I think it was overpriced. Reading the reviews of others I see that my impression of the restaurant is not shared by others. So perhaps it is just a matter of taste?
We chose this hotel after a little bit of research, but were taken aback on arrival to discover how great a great place the Alcadima is. The photos don't really do justice to the traditional design/decor, beautiful gardens, or the good size pool. Our room was very spacious and comfortable, with kettle and fridge, and we could also make good use of the pretty patio/terrace just outside the room. We ate twice in the restaurant, at around 5 pm after returning from day trips, and enjoyed our meals - good daily variety. Parking is in an underground garage, or on a piece of waste ground below the hotel, next to the 'bypass' - very convenient and safe. The hotel is just off the main street of Lanjaron, so very convenient. We thoroughly enjoyed our 6 night stay at The Alcadima last week. Thank you. DC/RH
It remains one of our favorite hotels , high quality rooms, excellent swimming pool and delightful gardens. If only there were smoke free areas outside. The new internet guide they offer is a helpful addition.
We've been here on the busiest moment in the year, but we haven't noticed a thing of it. Good food, beautiful place, and the employees are not only skillfull but also very helpfull. Amanda is awesome!
This is a family run hotel therefore straight away seemed to have the personal touch. It is quite large (larger than we thought from the information) and set in attractive gardens with a lovely large pool which we had to ourselves at times. Quirky room with a nice balcony big enough to sit on at a small table and all areas very clean? Do eat in the restaurant although you are close to many restaurants and bars in town. Hotel restaurant very reasonable for menu de dia and an excellent experience with quality food nicely oresented and good service. Tip: take a beach towel for pool.
Stayed here recently, on the advice of a friend, for 3 days in order to get a break from the Costa.. We enjoyed every minute. The Hotel is very deceptive from outside. But once inside the gardens and general lay out are very spacious. The staff are very helpful and friendly. There is an excellent restaurant in the hotel and we dined here each night and were very pleased with the standards and price. It is an excellent base for exploring the Sierra Nevada and if you are a walker there is no where better.. Looking forward to going back.
