Days Inn Charnock Richard M63.0 out of 5.0

We arrived at Days Inn Charnock Richard five minutes ago and were asked for our car registration. I can only assume this is to give Dick Turpin a head start. When we asked what time breakfast is we were told 'I'm not sure we are doing it tomorrow.' (Allegedly it was included in the price!) There is a significant draught from the window so we tried to shut what we thought was an open window. The net curtain, held on by a bamboo cane, fell off. The TV doesn't work, and the room is filthy...dust everywhere and stained carpet. The toilet is filthy. The bar is shut. A leaflet offers us a £5 discount if we rebook. I would rather eat my own eyeballs.
Room okay, clean and functional. Staff v helpful. Fire alarm trouble in another room (no fire or smoke, just technical) set off twice in morning. Handy for services (through adjoining door). Location fine for M6 southbound but bit of trek off northbound carriageway.
Did not read reviews before staying as expected standard of similar budget travel hotels. What a shock! Will not upload photos as they are all the same as everyone else's. Filthy, rusty bathroom, building falling apart, hasn't been decorated since the war, depressing, uncomfortable night. Do not understand how Days Inn can put their name to this hotel.
I stayed for 1 night following a business meeting. Receptionist was very welcoming and helpful. Room clean, functional had everything I needed. Had a light dinner in my room which was very tasty but I feel over priced (3 brie wedges - £4.95). Free parking, I've been assured that if I get a ticket it will be cancelled by the hotel. For £36. I cannot fault the hotel, it is tired and could do with renovating. But, it's clean, good bed, great shower and friendly staff. Could do with better signage from the southbound services.
OK so I slept well but only after the lights were out and I couldn't see the state of the place. Plaster was literally falling of the walls. Cracks everywhere and none too clean. In all honesty the place should not have allowed anyone to stay there until it had been repaired. Absolutely disgusting for the price....correction absolutely disgusting at any price.
if I could of put a rating of 0 it would of been absolutely nasty hotel, carpet looked like it had never seen a Hoover in it's life, none of the sides had been cleaned all dusty, would never return a place to avoid
What an absolute joke... I stayed in a Days Inn years ago & remembered it to be cheap & cheerful. This experience was cheap & scary. I expected Jack Nicholson to appear down the long corridor after us 😳 Thankfully we only wanted a brief stay on our way home & geographically, it fitted the bill. The corridor was very shabby; holes in the walls & skirtings & carpet about 50 years old & lumpy! The room smelt of damp (photos of the window & bathrooms show the damp), & the bathroom was mouldy, rusty & disgusting. Some lights didn't work...& the curtains were holed & hanging off the rail in places. If this is the standard of Days Inns these days... then they've seen better Days!
Stayed here for 1 night as a stopover on the way to Blackpool. Wasn't expecting luxury but half decent would have been nice at least. The corridors are very 70's and uninspiring and the room was even worse - cold, damp and in desperate need of a refurb. Black mould was visible on the walls in the bedroom and bathroom, the curtains had missing hooks (and had holes in the fabric), it just felt generally run down and depressing. The spoon provided for making tea was filthy - it looked like it had been used to eat a yoghurt. Bathroom was absolutely horrible, like something from a horror movie and hasn't been cleaned - stains were still on the side of the bath from the last guests shampoo bottle! I have asthma and my chest felt very uncomfortable due to the damp. We were only there for literally a few hours (thankfully) so saw little point in moaning. The room was pretty cheap so I guess you get what you pay for! I'd probably stay again for the pure convenience and it was fun to laugh at everything that was wrong with the room but I'd definitely ask for a room that wasn't riddled with damp!
Really? Mediocre is closer. Had to get extra towel, extra mug and a remote control for tv. Tv broken. Bathroom light and sidelighrs take an age to come on. Bland room. Tired corridors. No breakfast despite what they say. Not all sockets work. Really poor but fairly cheap and convenient.
Read a lot of reviews that complained about this place. We booked in advance and it was £30 which may have lowered our expectations. It's a motorway services hotel, so no, it's not pretty, it needs new beds and decorating, and it's a bit warm. But it's cheap, convenient, and has beds and warm showers.
