Very basic hotel, located in the center (a few steps from the cathedral) of a not vey beautiful city, where I recommend to stop only the bare minimum to visit the lake titicaca. The building is rather battered externally, but inside the rooms are very basic, but acceptable. Very low prices. The staff proved very kind empre empre
Last year we stayed in Tierra Viva Central Hotel in Cusco and we have a good impression of this hotel brand. But, Tierra Viva Puno does not meet the standards of this brand. We stayed there 3 nights. It is late May and after sunset, it is freezing. We have a heater in the room but it is broken. One channel of the heater is not worked. I asked for one more heater. The staff just told it will get warm later. But, the fact is not. I have to wear my down to get to sleep. During staying in the cold room, my wife got a fever. I phoned to front desk to ask for some ice to make her comfortable. The staff told to bring to my room. But, half hour no response. I had to go to the ground floor to the restaurant to get the ice. Facilities and service make us totally disappointed.
Room was Excellent, hotel staff was very friendly and wanted to assist with everything and the location was fantastic just on block away from the street where you can find all shopping and restaurants.
People are extremly nice and warm. The shower is amazingly stronger give us a good relief. Room is not the most modern, but acceptable. Location is super central. Shopping street just next to it, lots of good restaurant.
Stayed here for two nights initially, then a further night on the way back. It's a clean comfortable hotel, with nice rooms, great showers, pleasant and helpful staff and a good buffet breakfast. The location is excellent, just a short walk from the centre of Puno. Unfortunately both rooms suffered badly from noise. The first night because a huge party was going on somewhere in town until 2.30am, followed by departing noisy revellers who woke up all the local dogs. Not the hotel's fault, obviously, but very hard to sleep. The second room overlooked the street out the front which was free from traffic. All we could see from the window was the bank and an ATM so we assumed we would not be disturbed. Unfortunately for some reason many locals decided to use the ATM into the small hours. At 3am there was a large queue of noisy people all wanting to take out cash! Hard to mark the hotel down for this, though double glazing might have helped. The reason for four stars instead of five is simply because the Tierra Viva were the only hotel out of 12 booked in Peru and Bolivia who charged a service charge on top of the price already paid to Expedia. It wasn't a huge amount, about 10% I'd guess, but still a surprise given that we thought we had paid in full in advance and nobody else charged anything extra. We didn't use any additional services compared with any other hotels so it must just be a standard catch all charge for guests.
This is one of the few mid range hotels in central Puno. It’s only a 2 minute walk to Plaza de Armas. The hotel is simple in design with a few nice local handicrafts. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. My room was spacious, clean and comfortable with a few extras such tea making facilities, robes and a heater for chilly nights. Housekeeping also provide a turn down service, so my room was nice a warm after returning from dinner. The chocolate on the bed was a nice surprise. There was a decent selection at breakfast. I was travelling in my own and felt very safe.
The hotel itself is very well located in a quiet side street just off the Plaza de Armas. At the end of the street is a road full of restaurants and shops. The hotel is comfortable and the staff are all friendly and helpful. On the morning we left for Cusco I was feeling the effects of altitude, and they kindly gave me five minutes of oxygen which helped enormously. One slight downside is that there are discos not too far distant, and the music goes on quite late.
We arrived at Puno to realise we left our passports in Chivay! Albert and William went to so much effort to ensure we got our passports back super quickly. We couldn’t have continued our trip without help from this hotel. Thank you!!!!!
We spent 2 nights at this hotel and it is a Little gem. Around the corner from the plaza de Armas, and close to several shops. Room is small but cozy, very clean. The bathroom clean and good water pressure. Bed super comfortable. Breakfast is included and the options are just enough-since you have to eat light due to the altitude. I enjoyed the pan serrano the most.
While in Puno we stayed at the Tierra Viva Puno Plaza Hotel. The hotel was comfortable and clean and is located in the center of town, near the pedestrian walking zone. Staff are very friendly and helpful and take good care about their guests.
