The Whiteface Lodge

4.5 out of 5.0

The pool was amazing and we loved our room in the clubhouse. The food at breakfast was fantastic!

Extremely inexperienced dining staff. Stick with the buffet. Ordering off the menu takes forever. And most of the time they get it wrong anyway. Late night front desk staff couldn't answer anything . No food at the lake during the week. They should have a BBQ at least as you have to bring your own food or leave the premises. Overall experience was a success, but a five star hotel should work out their service issues.

This is our second visit to Whiteface Lodge, a modern lodge/timeshare venue in Lake Placid, one of my favorite places in the world. Whiteface should be a five-star property but the staff are not as unobtrusively attentive as they should be. Examples: I am highly allergic to feathers but getting hypo-allergic bedding required numerous calls and explanations. I even recommended two bedding products that I use at home. Also, I requested 2 PM (vs. 4 PM) check-in and was assured, while en route, that was no problem. When we arrived the desk clerk said" The room isn't ready. You can use our amenities until it is." The manager straightened that out. Then, when I turned the kitchen faucet on for a drink, water spouted from the top. A maintenance guy fixed it right away, but why didn't housekeeping notice or care? Lastly, there was a toddler in diapers in the fast-moving jacuzzi, a dangerous and unhealthy situation. The mom said: "It's okay. I'm an owner here." IIt shouldn't take much for managers to provide world class service and to make things right for the guest., With a little attitude adjustment on staff's part, this will truly be a five-star property.

This is our third annual trip to the Whiteface Lodge with the family - I think that says enough! The Whiteface Lodge is an amazing hotel - wonderful staff, activities for the entire family (very well heated outdoor pool, game room, movie theater, etc). Definitely a splurge but well worth it.

Very, very friendly and helpful staff in a spectacular setting....my wife, I, and 3 week old son went away thrilled and already thinking of our next return visit. The game room was second to none along with the private bowling alley. Also, the staff bent over backwards to accommodate some of the special requests we had seeing we brought our new born friend along with us. We've been blessed to stay in some fine resorts, but this one stands apart. Thank you to staff at Whiteface Lodge :-)

The Whiteface Lodge is fantastic - the ambiance, the service, the amenities (including the pool, outdoor hot-tubs, gym, in-house movie-theater and complimentary after-dinner s'mores at one of the big fireplaces) were all terrific. My wife really loved the on-premises spa as well. Not sure when I will get back to Lake Placid, but if I do I will be staying here. Would love to check it out in the summertime. The on-premises restaurant, Kanu, was very good, but I'd recommend trying some other alternatives if you are staying more than 2 nights. Their breakfast buffet is a great way to kickstart your day though!

Nice decoration. Clean. Excellent service. Breakfast was great. Dinner just ok.

I stayed at the hotel for the second time. Great for kids and adults ! In door out door heated pool, hot tubes spa with wet and dry sauna. Kids can have fun in the play room : air hockey, tennis table , billiard , bowling, movie theater. You can borrow snow shoes or use the ice rink for no charge . Good food in both restaurant with great included breakfast.

This trip was a mini vacation for my husband and I and what a lavish hotel with many great amenities. The staff was top notch and extremely helpful. Wonderful Kanu restaurant, delicious food. A classy spa, a bowling alley, skating rink w/ skates, snowshoe borrowing, campfire w/ marshallows each evening and beautiful scenery. Can not wait to return. Still earning their 5 stars!!

Was able to fully enjoy a much needed mini-vacation with my boyfriend. Would recommend Whiteface to anyone!

All u can ask for u will find fulfiled in this hotel. Indoor out door pool heated in the winter. Free indoor bowling snow shoe ice skating all free of charge.

Only one negative comment....the bedspread in the Junior suite is awfully heavy....I know it's made of expensive fabric, but it weighs down my feet so much I get tired when I sleep when it is on.

The Whiteface lodge and resort is the best family hotel. So much for both kids and adults!? We look forward to another visit!!!

The Whiteface Lodge was great! Our largest regret was not being able to stay longer. The staff was very helpful. I ate at the restaurant and the food was great (it was a little pricey). The town of Lake Placid was also very nice. I will definitely be returning soon!

We were in town for the Ironman Lake Placid and the Lodge could not have been more accomodating to the athletes and their families. Shuttle rides continuously into town on the day of the race and a late night "Ironman Menu" I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

This is by far and away the best destination resort ever!!Words really cannot describe how amazing The Whiteface Lodge really is.Perfect in every detail! Your life is not complete until you stay there-then you'll go back again and again.

This was a top notch hotel with all the amenities available..only wish we stayed longer

The Whiteface Lodge is the best Addirondack style building I have seen. Being a fan of this style, I have visited and seen several buildings and this is true to the style. The rooms are extra comfortable, the view is exceptional and the staff is memorable. I strongly recommend this hotel.
