EAGLE LAKE

Eagle Lake is known as one of the quieter lakes in the region with an abundance of wildlife, tranquil panoramic views and ample outdoor recreation activities by water or land. Eagle Lake features 410-acres of crystal-clear water formed on a plateau with an elevation of 951 feet and is 2.5 miles in length. The source of water that creates Eagle Lake includes an underground aquafer which is why it is known for its pristine waters. Loons, Deer, Brown Trout, American Eagles, Largemouth Bass, Otters, Osprey, Green Frogs, Racoons, Beavers, Moose and more are some of the wildlife that you'll see when visiting.

In addition to all of the recreational activities just steps outside, the area offers endless hiking trails, historic landmarks including the famous Fort Ticonderoga located only 10 miles from the home, the Star Trek Museum located 8 miles from the home, downtown Schroon Lake located 12 miles from the home and a variety of farm stands and apple orchards selling locally grown produce.

MORE ABOUT US:

Originally, the building was built during the Gilded Age (early 1900’s) as a private Great Camp home to the Spaulding family. Eighty-five years later, our family purchased the property and did a complete renovation. In 2021, we were at it again with the newly renovated Pine Apartment. During both projects, it has been our mission to keep many of the original features of being a Great Camp, while modernizing much of it to today’s comforts.

WHAT IS AN ADIRONDACK GREAT CAMP?

Early 19th century architects created function from form, taking design cues from nature to establish one of the most recognizable architectural styles of the era – Adirondack Rustic. Expansive lodging compounds, referred to as Great Camps, were designed to blend into their natural surroundings, offering rustic yet luxurious retreats for the Gilded Age elite. Adirondack Great Camps were as synonymous with the Gilded Age as the names Vanderbilt and Rockefeller. Designed to blend into their natural surroundings, these sprawling compounds spanned the most coveted shorelines of the Adirondacks – as well as some of the most remote. The Great Camp on Eagle Lake is one of the homes in the Adirondacks to have this shared history.

If you are looking for a unique location for your Adirondack vacation, this location is ideal for making memories that will last a lifetime.
The apartment is heated and features a kitchen and a patio, and there's space to spread out with a separate bedroom. Guests can enjoy a Smart TV and stay connected with free WiFi. Other standard amenities include a fireplace, a sofa bed, and a coffee maker.

Family Fun on Eagle Lake!
We had a wonderful time at Eagle Lake! We stayed in the Pine Apartment, which had its own deck overlooking the lake. Whenever we wanted to swim, kayak, or build a fire, all we had to do was go down the deck steps to the lake. Our daughter loved kayaking and hunting for fish and snails. It was a quiet place to stay, much more private than a hotel or other more populated area. And the location is very central - we went on day trips to Lake George and Lake Placid, which were both within an hour drive through beautiful country. It is true that there are very limited options for dining out in Ticonderoga. The best bet is to cook at the unit or travel to another village that has more diverse food. But that said, we would definitely return!

Beautiful Eagle Lake Location
The hostesses, Mary and Marianne, were terrific, providing quick text replies during our stay. Staying 6 days, we had planned to prepare many of our own meals, but the kitchen is not equipped for a long stay. We left a list of suggestions for improving a long-term stay, and would stay again, for a long weekend, knowing that we would go out for meals. Traffic noise is quite noticeable due to the proximity from the deck and adjoining grounds to the road--this is a main truck route from Ticonderoga to I-81. White noise to sleep was a must, and absolutely nowhere to place a suitcase or clothes during the stay. Beautiful views of the lake and eagles, loons and red-breasted nuthatches brought much joy!

Beautiful fall getaway!
What an amazing location for a fall getaway! Property was amazing and right on the lake. Beautiful views from apartment and deck. Grounds were spectacular with fire pit/Adirondack chairs/swing and screened in outdoor room. We also used the kayaks on the property. Apartment was immaculately maintained. We could not have found a better place for our weekend away!

Our lake view stay"
The grounds are just lovely and we were alone there.,which we loved!! Disappointed there was no canoe available as advertised.? Also the vegetation growth in the water.at the beach... Drapes would be nice for the sliding doors? In conclusion, we enjoyed our stay very much.. Thank you..

Serene get away in the Adirondacks
My husband and I spent a glorious week at The Great Camp on Eagle Lake. The view from the Eagle Pine apartment living room and deck was unbelievably beautiful. The apartment was perfect - very clean and all the comforts of home. The Great Camp has all the amenities needed to enjoy Eagle Lake. Our check-in day was not going as planned and Marianne arranged self check-in for us which was such a help and great start to our week. I highly recommend staying at The Great Camp if you love to kayak, fish, explore the Adirondack Mountains, love a beautiful serene view and tranquility.

Beyond All Expectations
A beautiful property in a stunning Adirondack setting. The accommodations, newly refurbished and artistically presented, left us in awe. We prepared most of our meals here and found the kitchen perfect for our sense of gourmet accomplishments. We are kayakers and found the lake access a piece of cake. This would also be a beautiful autumn setting. The only downside to the location would be the traffic noise from the highway. This in no way would be a deal breaker preventing us from returning.

Eagle Lake Getaway
This was a short getaway for my husband and I. The Great Camp at Eagle Lake is a beautiful property right on the lake. The property had kayaks, peddle boats, and a row boat for guests to use. The apartment had a beautiful view of Eagle Lake from the slider in the living room and provided everything needed for cooking, toiletries, and towels for the lake. Marianne, the owner, was very accommodating with an early check in and available to answer any questions I had. Brandy welcomed us when we arrived and gave us a tour of the apartment and the property and was also available for anything we needed. We happened to stay during a week with a heat advisory and although fans were provided, it would have been nice to have air conditioning. All in all, we had a wonderful stay and looking forward to visiting again.
