We’ve just spend 2 nights at Hotel Oliveto Lago di Garda and our stay was fantastic, the staffs were very very helpful and wonderful . Especially the same lady that double up as a receptionist & bar lady and the lady waiter. The swimming pool /Jacuzzi was just bliss. The breakfast had lots I couldn’t list all here and dinner was just Italian great. I will recommend this hotel to anybody. I would no doubt come back here. K
Our late evening check in at the Oliveto was very smooth and friendly and we were offered dinner despite the restaurant being about to close. We took up the offer and the meal was very good and reasonably priced at three courses for €20. Our room was comfortable and quiet although somewhat dated and we really enjoyed a three night stay at the Oliveto. We were also afforded excellent advice and tips on places to visit from a lovely local young lady by the name of Chiara in Reception which was very much appreciated. The weather was excellent and the entire stay was most enjoyable with all the staff being very helpful and courteous.
Spent two nights while exploring stunning Lake Garda, Great location, lovely ambiance, very good service, staff very friendly and accommodating, will definitely go back, hopefully for longer next time, Marvellous experience !
I went here with my friend. Hotel was rather cheap and after reading reviews, expectations were quite low. But, we got our room earlier than check-in was, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the room (yes, it wasn't that fancy either), nice pool , great service and really good breakfast. Definitely value for money!
Just shows hotels can change! Reception staff were great and most spoke excellent English. Our room was large and had a view over the lake. The first night the air- con didn't work and it was very hot in the room but cool in the corridor outside so I asked at reception if it could be fixed along with a bed side bulb, both were sorted when we returned to the hotel ( the bulb blew again straight away!) Food and service were good and the waiters were friendly. We had half board as part of our package. Wine was good and you could get a glass in the dining room. The hotel is a fair walk out of the town, about 20 minutes, but fine if you want a quiet area.
just spent a week at this best western hotel, when booking in guy on reception was brusque, told us 152 was on first floor use lift,no mention where the lift was,saw one near dining room, entered to find it only went to 3rd floor and was the service lift, came out to see him laughing, found the one past the bar and went to room.First impression not good with metal screen down on the balcony, not easy to open, when did surprised to find our room was level with the car park[hotel built on a slope] so if you want a view you need to be lake facing or higher than the first floor.Wallpaper peeling on wall between bedroom and bathroom, wet plaster,Plenty of space, double bed 2 large singles pushed together.Plenty of hot water.Had problems with safe and bathroom light but quickly sorted by the maintenance man.3 choices per course on the set menu,be prepared for cold veg, sprouts, cauliflower, brocoli etc on the buffet, the desserts were the best. Some friendly waiters, others so-so. Girls on reception were the best. Would need to improve for us to put up with the 15 minute walk to the harbour for us to stay again!
We spent 4 nights in Hotel Oliveto this week as our base for visiting Lake Garda. Location: 15 to 20 minutes walk from town centre Rating: hotel has 4 star rating. Based on other 4 star hotels I've stayed in in other countries, I wouldn't give it 4 stars, more a good 3 star Room: we shared a triple room (double and sofa bed). I pulled the short straw and got the sofa bed - would be ok for one night but uncomfortable after 4 nights. Good air conditioning. Bathroom: towels changed daily but smallest shower. Really could do with being upgraded Good wifi and hundreds of TV channels but only a couple English language ones - BBC world, CNN etc Food: I'm not a fan of breakfast in Italy generally but breakfast ok here. Good choice - fresh fruit, meats, cheeses, cake, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage- all Italian/German style. Dinner: we ate dinner here twice - to be honest, not by choice but rather the weather stopped us from venturing outside. The first night it was more for sustenance purposes than for a tasty meal so we just picked a course each off the limited table d'hote menu. Average. Our last night we went for the €20 half board menu. It was great value for what we got. Staff: The high point of our stay! I can't say enough about the staff. The girls on reception are fantastic! So friendly and helpful. The restaurant staff are very good too, perhaps a little brusque at times during breakfast service but more relaxed during dinner service. Other observations: the hotel is missing a proper bar area. There is a sort of a bar but it only seats 8-10 and the main focal point is a tv showing football. It would be lovely to have somewhere more relaxing to retire to after dinner. As the weather was bad when we visited we didn't get to use the swimming pool but it looked nice. All in all, great service but decor needs updating.
We stayed at Hotel Oliveto for 3 nights before our cruise from Venice. I viewed the previous reviews with trepidation, but we had a lovely stay. Staff were friendly, excellent service in the bar and restaurant and spotlessly clean. Yes, the decor is a strange mix and a little dated but it didn't spoil our holiday. It's about 1 mile into the centre which wasn't a problem for us, in fact we enjoyed the stroll after dinner. We would probably book B&B if we came again, not because of the food but because the restaurants and bars of Densenzano centre are so lovely, and the atmosphere is super. At the end of August / Beginning of September there seems to be lots going on in the centre - live music - fireworks - really good.
1. Location is great 2 min walk to the lake. 15 min to city centre. 2. Room- big enough -managed to get united twin beds- big bathroom with a shower cabine that could be improved with a door not a curtain. No balcony and no view. 3. Friendly staff. 4. Limited choices for breakfast. 5. Decent size for the outdoor pool. 6. Car parking is available but I understood is not monitored. Stars were given by comparison with another 4* hotels.
We arrived at Oliveto nervous as I had read the reviews here before we left and was under the impression we were going to have a disappointing holiday. A new management team is in place, the poor reviews are totally historic. The staff all over the hotel are friendly, helpful and happy. Even the girls cleaning the rooms are sweet. The hotel is very clean, beautiful public areas. The bedrooms are a bit tired but clean, comfy and functional. I guess money will eventually be spent on the rooms but other areas have been well upgraded. The meals were lovely, the bar prices very reasonable, 3.50 euros for Aperol Spritz, but 3 Euro for a Diet Coke. I would recommend buying kids drinks in a local shop for 1.50 euros instead. The swimming pool is heavenly, quiet and shallow enough for any competent child swimmers to feel safe. Deep enough for an adult to have a proper swim. The jacuzzi corner is lovely. Fresh fruit delivered around the pool every afternoon, FOC, waiter service around the pool is very good too. A lovely 15 minute walk into the centre of Desenzano, but far enough out of town to have quiet and peace at night. I would thoroughly recommend Oliveto, it's a lovely family hotel, I simply have nothing negative to say about this hotel. I will definitely be returning.
