A wonderful hotel overlooking Lake Garda that offers good service of the highest quality. They coped very well with my gluten-free allergy offering me a selection of options to cope with this. We will certainly be visiting the Hotel over the forthcoming years.
We stayed here for a special occasion and lovely it was ,staff couldn’t do enough for you food was fabulous location just right for us as we don’t like being in a busy resort the hotel is right beside water transport so you can easily get about to most places on the lake ! Would defiantly go back to this hotel
This hotel was fabulous, it's nostalgic atmosphere, dating back to the 1930-1940, with all its grandeur and the lifts to match. With its rustic rooms overlooking lake garda, I can understand why Winston Churchill loved this hotel. The one bar was call Winnie's bar after him. The food was tasty and hot. The staff were attentive considering the hotel was closing for the season when our group had all checked out. The pool and jacuzzi looked inviting but due to it being the end of October didn't try out,as weather rather cool.
Wow. Totally charming classic European lodging -I kept thinking of The Grand Budapest Hotel. Suites have breathtaking views across the lake. Loved the ingenious wood shutters on the windows. Service was impeccable. Rooms were old-fashioned but comfortable. Huge bed with a somewhat sketchy mattress but it was okay. This hotel is not chic but still feels grand in a quirky throwback way. Bathroom was large and clean with good amenities. Pool area with loungers overlooking the lake was fantastic, with stairs down into the lake. Sun shields for your head built into the chaise lounges? Love! No hat needed. Breakfast restaurant had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with morning sunshine. Nice quality food...not over-the-top, but all the basics. Highly recommend this Grande Dame of the Gardone Riviera.
We had adjoining rooms one for our teenage sons , us in the other.. The staff were friendly, spoke good English. We were half board, could fault any of the food & there was a good choice . This is the best place we have ever stayed. Our teenage boys were the youngest guest we saw in the hotel. We did stay end of season.
This hotel is truly the grandeur of the early 20th century kept alive for decades now. The service was really very good and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. The wheather was outstanding, the lake refreshing! We booked a corner junior suite room which I would strongly recommend
Grand in every aspect, junior suite with balcony provided a wonderful view across the lake. Breakfast on the terrace was very good quality and wide range of choices. My wife and I wouldn't hesitate to return. Immediately next to the hotel is the ferry terminal which gave very easy access to all routes across the lake. The hotel staff were helpful and polite and a la carte dining in the select restaurant was most enjoyable
It had been a long time ambition to stay at this hotel so was thrilled to be allocated here as part of a cruise and stay holiday and the experience most certainly did not disappoint. The hotel is grand in proportions, a very long building with large function rooms and bedrooms all decorated and furnished in period style. There is a sense of faded grandeur but this is all part of the ambience and history of the place. The setting right on the lakeside with beautiful terraces and an abundance of flowering plants, along with a well kept swimming pool was just idyllic. Our bedroom was huge, well equipped and clean and the bathroom included both a shower and a bath. There is a turn down service complete with chocolate on the pillow at night time. The views from the window and balcony (complete with table and chairs) across the lake were a pleasure to wake up to or to sit and watch the sunset. On arrival and departure porters take your cases to/from your room to your transport and this is just the beginning of the wonderful service received from the staff. The staff on reception are knowledgeable and helpful as regards to local transport services, places to visit etc and the service received in the restaurant was impeccable. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and with a wide choice at the breakfast buffet, salad, cheese, bread and dessert bar the evening meal. The menu in the a la carte restaurant also looked delicious. There was live music in the bar in the evenings and newspapers in several languages provided in the lounge which was a relaxing spot to while away some time. The pool and jacuzzi were still operational even though it was October and there were plenty of sunbeds available to use. Drinks in the bar were expensive but there were bars just a few steps away along the promenade and a lake ferry stop right next to the hotel. Across the road and up the hill a short distance were the pretty village centre, botanical gardens and il Vittoriale so very central to all attractions. The only minus point I can think of is that the lift is very old, small and slow! This is a historic hotel which has seen various uses during wartime and has welcomed many famous people including Winston Churchill, there is a very interesting book about its history available to purchase at reception. Would definitely love to return in the future
We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights, the hotel went beyond our expectations, after reading some bad reviews I was a little unsure what the hotel would be like but it was great, the food was good and the room was clean, the room could do with a spruce up but the decor was in keeping with the olde world style of the hotel. I would definitely stay again if I visited the area in the future. Would totally recommend.
As already reviewed, we also stayed here after a cruise and it certainly made the holiday, i was in the pool about 40 mins after arriving, it was chilly but not bad it was a lovely sunny afternoon and I really enjoyed the swim the views. The views from our room were amazing I opened the curtains on arrival and just said WOW! The food was good and as already said good choices and buffet salads cheeses and sweets all excellent. Breakfast was good too. The drinks were expensive but we coped the hotel made up for it, we listened to the singers in the evening the first night the second we walked along the promenade and had a couple of drinks in a café very busy with people from the hotel. The third night we found a little Bistro with a lovely owner and staff who made us very welcome for just drinks. We would love to go back so that we could explore the area more. Possibly staying in the Grand a gorgeous hotel with lovely staff and food.
