cosy room, beatiful view, silence. The nicest staff in the reception, waiters, cleaning personal, the bike shop. To the bike shop, thanks for the ride down town and up town, when we gave up :) on the ride.
We stayed 4 nights with the bike option & must recommend Carlo & staff for a great hospitality experience, and this is before you consider the view! Every time I stepped outside our opened the shutters I was stunned! It made riding up from Bellagio (almost) a pleasure.
We stayed in the Il Perlo Panorama in Bellagio from the 10th to the 13th of July 2017 during our Italian holiday. The view from the room of the lake was fantastic - do make sure you book a lake view suite to get the same. However, the distance from the lake front was around 3 kms and most of it was a trek uphill. Thus, you need to constantly hike up and down to reach the lakeshore and back- the only other option is to ask the hotel shuttle to pick you up. However, the hotel pickup costs around 2 euros per person for every pickup. While we enjoy hiking, we faced an issue on our second day of stay. The hotel management informed us in the evening that there would be only pizza available for dinner and none of the other options would be available from the menu. Both me and m y wife were not in the mood for pizza-- however, a hike down was also not very appealing. A hotel with such location constraints should ideally provide all its menu options at meal times as they know that customers cannot really go out ot look for other options.
The short version: this is a quiet cosy hotel, that makes you feel at home. The view is magnificent. The restaurant is really good (their pastas and pizzas are some of the best we have had and we do like our Italian food). The people in the bike shop are really friendly and help you out so you can test gear etc. It is 3 km from the centre of Bellagio. You can walk down or take the shuttle that runs 3 times a day. Wonderful place for couples. The longer version: Dear Il Perlo, One of the fantastic things about your hotel is that it is small and cosy. We really get a cosy family feeling. Everybody is kind and welcoming from Casey and Lucca in the bike shop to the young women cleaning and your friendly sommelier (who makes a really good gin and tonic by the way). Of course everybody will mention the splendid view. It is marvellous, but for a writer like me the most marvellous part is that for most of the day I had it to myself and could read and write (which is how I relax), while my husband went out on his bike which is how he and many of the other bikers like to relax. The waterfall next to our room (12) makes a wonderful noise. If anyone suffers from tinnitus this noise is a real blessing. One last thing we want to mention is your food. Your restaurant may be small, but the pizzas and the pastas are top quality. We enjoy Italian food very much, but being quite good in the kitchen our selves, we often end up longing to go home from a vacation to make better food than what we were served. This time we did not once feel we could have made the food better our selves. In fact my husband was inspired to make new pasta dishes at home. So from our heart: Thank you for a wonderful vacation. We truly enjoyed it, and we will be back. We don’t get many weeks of vacation and we are also not the richest of people – so to return to a place it has to be affordable and special too. Il Perlo is such a place.
Stayed for 2 nights mid July with my wife and 2 kids (aged 9 & 2). Set approx 2km from Bellagio town centre with amazing views of Lake Como and the surrounding villages. Hotel owner was on site each, very helpful and great with children. Breakfast was great with lots of variety. No faults whatsoever! Highly recommend!!
Bellagio is a magical place! the hotel is located at the edge of the city and has an amazing view over lake Como. its a 2 star hotel but the atmosphere leaves you with the feeling of much more. we spent 1 night and felt sorry it wasnt a week. breakfast was served on the balcony which has the direct view to the lake. a walking distance theres a small creek you can hear the water stream and its so peacefull! its not a walking distance from the center but the hotel offers a shuttle a few times a day. the room are a little out dated but its part of the charm i guess.
Truly an unforgettable place with the most incredible view. I consider myself somewhat well-travelled and this place is by far the most beautiful spot I have ever been. This owes a lot to the magic of Lake Como, somewhat hidden among the foothills of the Swiss Alps. The weather was spectacular during our visit, too. But lest you think the hotel is just incidental, let me assure you that it is not. The hotel restaurant is very very good, probably the best food I've had in Italy to date. There is also daily wine tasting, with two different wines selected by their charming sommelier. The rooms are somewhat basic and a little dated but don't let that deter you as you will likely spend your time on the terrace drinking in the view, anyway. This hotel is a good 45min uphill walk from the main strip of Bellagio. This means the area is peaceful and charming (and allows for the fabulous view), rather than loud and touristy. It's not a good spot for anyone who prefers to be in the thick of it, but it's perfect for anyone who wants a tranquil hideaway where they can eat good food, drink delicious wine and stare out at a truly stunning vista.
We were looking to stay anywhere on Lake Como with a view of the Lake, and prices were expensive for even a 3 star hotel. Then my wife came across this place as a 2 star for half the price of the places were were looking at. It looked quite basic but had great reviews and great views. So we took a chance and booked a superior lake view room. We were glad with our choice from the moment we arrived. Parking was ample and easy, and we had an efficient welcome. When we went to our room we were absolutely wowed by the view. The room was also clean and tidy. (Some have commented it's a bit basic, but come on!!, it's a clean 2 star hotel with amazing views and great service at half the cost of the equivalents anywhere around Lake Como!!!).. Obviously we expected a great view but until you are here you can't appreciate it. Then we ate downstairs for lunch with a similarly spectacular view. Lunch was simple but great value, and friendly service. Dinner also the same and many people staying decided to have dinner at the hotel for its simplicity and value. And the view and relaxed atmosphere. The owners are also friendly but not intrusively so, and as we drove we went into Bellagio several times for lunch and dinner and it's very easy being less than 10 mins drive. It's the best location for Lake Como and best value where you can use the money you save to hire a car and eat wherever you like eg we also ate at the Grand Hotel Tremizzo so mixed it up a bit. Absolutely definitely coming back. Grazie!
We were placed in a corner room with two sets of French Doors which resulted in great views of Lake Como. The room was nice, a big comfortable bed, plenty of room and a TV with a USB input for watching any movies you may have brought along. We had dinner and breakfast (breakfast was included in the price of the room) on the patio, also with great views. All the people working there were very friendly and nice, from reception to the busser at dinner. This hotel is not on the lake, but on a hill well above, which is the reason the views are so spectacular and the price reasonable.
Exceptional customer service. Luca was so friendly and helpful. I hired a bike for the day, bike was in great condition. I got lost on my cycle and there was genuine concern for me. The next day Luca dropped me to the ferry. Highly recommend this place for bike rental.
