Mercure Annecy Sud3.0 out of 5.0

Overnight stay in the beautiful town of Annecy. Disappointed on location and standard of this hotel property. Not to the standard expected of a Mercure. Restaurant also not great. Menu very restrictive and not good value. Would not recommend
Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The room was big. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was a good size. The couple of things that ruined our stay was the airconditioner -we couldn't turn it on as it made a terrible clicking noise all the time and doors continously slamming throughout the night. The room had a tiny bar fridge but had enough room for our water and a few things. Would have been better placed on top of a cupboard instead of on the floor for ease of access. We ate in the restaurant the first night - excellent food and friendly staff. It's a bit of a walk into town but not too bad. It's also located where there's alot of construction happening but we didn't hear much noise from that. Not sure if we would stay here again.
I stayed here with my family for 2 nights on the way back from Italy. We'd stopped for 3 nights before this in Chamonix and stayed at the excellent Mercure les Bossons there. After that our expectation for Annecy Sud was high - we were disappointed. On the map, its quite conveniently located - and indeed if you have a car it's only 5 mins into the centre of Annecy old town. However the hotel is located in a commercial/industrial centre so not sure how you'd get into town without your own transport. It's a little awkward to find - just off the main road. Both our car Satnav and Google Maps took us off the wrong exit and tried to get us there through a non-existant rear entrance. It's actually located next to some industrial type units and a block of apartments. There is a large gate which is closed at 9pm and you have to buzz reception to be let in. Not sure why they feel the need to lock the gate - but one can only assume there is a need for it! Reception is quite a nice open space and the reception staff were all friendly and helpful and spoke great English. We had a two bedroom family room which was very nice and very clean and I have absolutely no complaints about the room. The restaurant is quite small and cramped - and actually badly designed. To get into it you have to walk past the breakfast buffet which is already busy and crowded. Breakfast choice is "ok" but nowhere near as good as the previous Mercure. Its quite basic with selection of bread and croissants, cold meat and cheese as well as tinned fruit and cereals. There is a hot plate with small sausages and bacon (which I think was very undercooked) as well as scrambled eggs which weren't great. The worst thing however as I've said is the cramped space - and when we were there it wasn't even that busy. The staff however were all lovely and friendly. There is a small terrace with an eating area overlooking the pool. The pool itself is a decent enough size, a very deep end and with a number of sunbeds around it. You can get pool towels from reception. Would I stay here again? I'd probably say "I wouldn't not stay here again". I wouldn't rush back and would probably look for other options. However if a one night stop on the way back from somewhere I wouldn't object to staying here. There are plenty of plus points with the cleanliness and excellent staff. If you're looking for a romantic break for example, then this probably isn't the hotel for you!
we stayed her for 4 days, using this hotel as a base for sight seeing, couldn't fault it for the price, meals were good, pool was great for an early evening cool down ,it took about 10 mins drive max to get into the old town , , we would recommend to anyone , also a good size Carrefours, near by for any shopping .
We stayed here for two nights on our way to Italy. The hotel itself was very good, it was clean and nicely presented with a decent size room and bathroom. The pool was not available whilst we were there due to maintenance works taking place. There is ample free parking at the hotel. Don't be put off by the hotels appearance from the outside - its much better on the inside!! The only downside was the location - the hotel is about a half an hour walk from the main town. It was not that far but not a very nice walk along an extremely busy, noisy road and into town via the 'not so nice' end covered in graffiti and just not very inviting.
Lovely hotel with outdoor pool. 10 minute drive from Annecy which is beautiful and well worth a visit. The room was large and clean with a lovely shower. The staff were helpful and friendly. Nice outside terrace.
We have stayed in Mercure hotels b fore and enjoyed our stays. This hotel was no different. It was on the outskirts of Annecy, but a short walk to the No 5 bus into the old town, tickets bought on bus. On out first afternoon we walked towards the nearby carrefours and found a lovely bakery, who ch offered a cheaper breakfast the following day. We also ate in one of the local cafes that night, steak and chips, €10.50. The pool was a welcome cool down after a hot days travel, then a hot days sightseeing. It is near a busy main road, you hear it at the pool but not your room.
We had been travelling for a month staying in mostly budget accommodation, so thought we would treat ourselves to the Mercure for a change. It turned out to be a poor decision, as after booking in we entered the lift to get to our floor, and were immediately stuck. Two of the four of us have health issues that preclude us standing for very long, so it wasn't an enjoyable experience. It took about 45 minutes to be let out, and the staff immediately went into damage control telling us we had too much weight in the lift. Given that there were four adults, and two overnight bags, we felt this was unlikely. While the rooms were pleasant and quiet, the treatment we received after being stuck in the lift left a very bad impression of the staff.
No hésitation , mercure is best for price. I booké 2 months in advance and got spécial offer. We CAN appréciâtes accord Level at reasonable prince M'y wife Forgot á T Shirt. No problèm they sent it by post. I Will recommande accord group for sure
Rooms quite new, with a very comfortable bed, a good shower, coffee and tea making facilities and an empty fridge. Although near a major road there was no disturbing noise and I got a good sleep. The carpark is safe and locked at night. Walking to the Annecy city centre and old town is about twenty minutes. Near the hotel is a small supermarket but no inviting restaurant, so for dinner you either stay in the hotel or go downtown Annecy. Breakfast unfortunately is a bit on the expensive side, 17€ for the buffet. All in all a good hotel for staying in Annecy, especially when driving by car, as the hotel parking is free.
