I stay at many hotels and several Mercury / Accor hotels. Stayed here for first time in recently and although Room was ok, clean and adequate, the restaurant staff just spoiled it a little. A colleague and I ordered a beer with our meals and we were asked if we wanted water for the table which we said “yes please”. Starter arrived and left but no beer or water. Asked again and then the beers arrived, but sadly the water never did. The food was ok - nothing special, but not bad either. Then coffee - I ordered an espresso and my colleague ordered white coffee Espresso arrived quickly, but the other coffee never appeared. Couldn’t be bothered to ask again so just paid and left. Not a disaster, but took the edge off the visit. May stay here again, but probably won’t eat here.
The hotel is a little out of the centre of Annecy but that makes it easy to get to and park. The rooms were very comfortable and the staff at reception very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for the breakfast restaurant. The hot food was actually quite cold - not only unpleasant but also unsanitary. Staff were uncommunicative and unhelpful. Get ready for a management defence sayjng this was unusual - unfortunately that would be defensible because we saw the hotel manager helping himself to the supposedly hot eggs.
Location is dull. Food is so so. The heating system in my room was not working properly and it was a cold night. My bed was not very comfortable and had two small (very small) pillows. TV only had 3 international chanels, one German, one Spanish and one English (BBC which had no signal). It is not worth what it costs. Definitely not a place to return. Service howver was good and the staff very friendly.
Overnight stay in the beautiful town of Annecy. Disappointed on location and standard of this hotel property. Not to the standard expected of a Mercure. Restaurant also not great. Menu very restrictive and not good value. Would not recommend
Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The room was big. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was a good size. The couple of things that ruined our stay was the airconditioner -we couldn't turn it on as it made a terrible clicking noise all the time and doors continously slamming throughout the night. The room had a tiny bar fridge but had enough room for our water and a few things. Would have been better placed on top of a cupboard instead of on the floor for ease of access. We ate in the restaurant the first night - excellent food and friendly staff. It's a bit of a walk into town but not too bad. It's also located where there's alot of construction happening but we didn't hear much noise from that. Not sure if we would stay here again.
I stayed here with my family for 2 nights on the way back from Italy. We'd stopped for 3 nights before this in Chamonix and stayed at the excellent Mercure les Bossons there. After that our expectation for Annecy Sud was high - we were disappointed. On the map, its quite conveniently located - and indeed if you have a car it's only 5 mins into the centre of Annecy old town. However the hotel is located in a commercial/industrial centre so not sure how you'd get into town without your own transport. It's a little awkward to find - just off the main road. Both our car Satnav and Google Maps took us off the wrong exit and tried to get us there through a non-existant rear entrance. It's actually located next to some industrial type units and a block of apartments. There is a large gate which is closed at 9pm and you have to buzz reception to be let in. Not sure why they feel the need to lock the gate - but one can only assume there is a need for it! Reception is quite a nice open space and the reception staff were all friendly and helpful and spoke great English. We had a two bedroom family room which was very nice and very clean and I have absolutely no complaints about the room. The restaurant is quite small and cramped - and actually badly designed. To get into it you have to walk past the breakfast buffet which is already busy and crowded. Breakfast choice is "ok" but nowhere near as good as the previous Mercure. Its quite basic with selection of bread and croissants, cold meat and cheese as well as tinned fruit and cereals. There is a hot plate with small sausages and bacon (which I think was very undercooked) as well as scrambled eggs which weren't great. The worst thing however as I've said is the cramped space - and when we were there it wasn't even that busy. The staff however were all lovely and friendly. There is a small terrace with an eating area overlooking the pool. The pool itself is a decent enough size, a very deep end and with a number of sunbeds around it. You can get pool towels from reception. Would I stay here again? I'd probably say "I wouldn't not stay here again". I wouldn't rush back and would probably look for other options. However if a one night stop on the way back from somewhere I wouldn't object to staying here. There are plenty of plus points with the cleanliness and excellent staff. If you're looking for a romantic break for example, then this probably isn't the hotel for you!
we stayed her for 4 days, using this hotel as a base for sight seeing, couldn't fault it for the price, meals were good, pool was great for an early evening cool down ,it took about 10 mins drive max to get into the old town , , we would recommend to anyone , also a good size Carrefours, near by for any shopping .
We stayed here for two nights on our way to Italy. The hotel itself was very good, it was clean and nicely presented with a decent size room and bathroom. The pool was not available whilst we were there due to maintenance works taking place. There is ample free parking at the hotel. Don't be put off by the hotels appearance from the outside - its much better on the inside!! The only downside was the location - the hotel is about a half an hour walk from the main town. It was not that far but not a very nice walk along an extremely busy, noisy road and into town via the 'not so nice' end covered in graffiti and just not very inviting.
Lovely hotel with outdoor pool. 10 minute drive from Annecy which is beautiful and well worth a visit. The room was large and clean with a lovely shower. The staff were helpful and friendly. Nice outside terrace.
We have stayed in Mercure hotels b fore and enjoyed our stays. This hotel was no different. It was on the outskirts of Annecy, but a short walk to the No 5 bus into the old town, tickets bought on bus. On out first afternoon we walked towards the nearby carrefours and found a lovely bakery, who ch offered a cheaper breakfast the following day. We also ate in one of the local cafes that night, steak and chips, €10.50. The pool was a welcome cool down after a hot days travel, then a hot days sightseeing. It is near a busy main road, you hear it at the pool but not your room.
