The food menu did not include the items that were advertised or were always out of everything. Additionally, the listing on Expedia stated "ocean view," but the ocean view no longer exists, which constitutes false advertising. There were also numerous issues with the internet throughout the stay.

Don’t stay

Main issue was to mot accept international mastercard nor visa credit card for payment. Restaurant service terribly slow. Poor breakfast offer, unreliable wifi and in general the feeling of a rundown place priced as top quality.

First of all, my room wasn’t available and we had to wait over 1 hour for the room and we finally got into the room it wasn’t what we reserved so we was moved to another room that was uncleaned in which we had to request that the room be cleaned. There was very little water to take a shower and the restaurant food we ordered was half cooked. I do not recommend this hotel.

I liked the location of the property. I did not like the fact that I had to pay that much for a very small room. I didn't picture the Queen bed to be small either. I paid same price for a more comfortable room at Protea hotel Owerri. The room, bed, and bath area was too small.

The view of the lake is great! But .. the hotel is not up to per, the facilities are old, bathrooms terribly small and uncomfortable, the rooms don't have natural lighting and windows have some green/blue film barrier that just keeps you in, rooms are dark ish because of this and the rooms feel stuffy and musky. The view's good and pool nice, staff hospitable but I would not recommend staying there :( I've never been happier to check out. I constantly considered checking out, and I actually tried to.

Beautiful hotel on the coast

Great place! Not so easy to locate because there are 2 hotels with same name in close proximity. The breakfast buffet has limited options but overall the staff are quite helpful and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Rooms are small but the view was also quite good.

Would stay again but needs improvement

The Protea Hotel is nice and quiet, but the rooms could be a bit cleaner and the staff really need to be better trained across the board. I wouldn't mind staying again, but the management needs to ensure its people have the skills to serve in the hospitality industry. There were a number of issues with meals, check-in/check-out, etc.

Excellent service with not a good bathroom

The hotel is good. Every time the service is great! However, the bathroom is really bad with leaking water and there is even one insect with long body in the bathroom during showering. Lots of small spiders on the desk which I couldn’t work on the desk. I really had to say the room needs to double cleaned before new guests coming.

Terrible Hotel

1. Booked airport transfer was forgotten - this caused me a 1.5 hour delay arriving at the hotel; 2. No internet in the room - I was then informed that they would get it fixed "next week"; 3. I had to sit in the bar as only way I could get internet 4. When I asked to change rooms, it was a big drama. 6. They moved me one floor down - internet works perfectly ... BUT the room is filthy - only the sheets were clean, the floor turned my feet black in seconds; it's sticky and dirty 7. The room they moved me to is next to the industrial sized generators that ran all night 8. The chicken burger I ordered was inedible

Great location and affordable beach front property

If you get an upstairs room with the balcony overlooking the ocean, the view is amazing. The pool and lounge area really work well together.
