Kvikne's

gorgeous fjordside setting

Definitely recommend -- but just don't forget your shampoo because besides a box of kleenex there are no little bottles, bars or showercap. Had to ask for another towel to use as a bathmat. Breakfast buffet which is included is wonderful, and the village of Balestrand idylic.

Flåmsbrygga Hotell

Nice hotel compared to the few options in the area

I should probably start off saying that, to me, the best thing about the hotel is the pub/brewery with extremely nice staff, great beer and excellent food. The cozy waiting area by the fire place is also a plus. Breakfast at the hotel was really nice. The room itself was just ok for the price. The "twinbeds" appear to be smaller than normal. You may, like me, be allocated a room on the first floor, by the reception, and with a balcony to the parking lot where you have no choice but to close the blinds. Now, the really bad part is that the hot water capabilities seem to be very limited and the hotel staff does not seem to believe that this is a big deal. There was no hot water at night when i tried to shower and again in the morning when my husband tried to shower. If you have a big structure with several rooms, accommodating a significant amount of people, then you should plan accordingly. Your most basic needs when booking a hotel consist of a nice bed and a warm shower and i did not think the hotel covered those nicely.

kringsjå hotell

We had a balcony room with a great view!

Our balcony rooms had wonderful views. The breakfast buffet was great and we packed our lunches from the same buffet. We used the guest kitchen to make our dinners. It was nice to have a refrigerator to store foods that needed to be cold. The staff was more than great as they went out of their way to help whenever possible. The grocery store is within walking distance and the people at the visitor center, next to the grocery store, were very helpful.
