Pros + location is incredible + bungalow are very nice (bathroom is so so) + staff is nice and speaks, on average, good english Cons - food is almost a joke, some examples: (1) ordered a salad with some 10 ingredients (lettuce, avocado, carrots, corn, cucumber, etc), and we get only 3: raw capsicum, onions and lettuce. Need obviously more food - we ask for a chicken / avocado wrap, and we seek first confirmation that all ingredients are there, and obviously avocado isn’t there, but no one tells you unless you ask. (2) ordered eggs Benedict, the first item on the breakfast menu. We left them there: they tasted soap (and I let you figure out the reason...), the Hollandaise sauce was a kind of disgusting rotten mustard, bread wasn’t toasted, and last but not least what they called ham was salami. By the way, we haven’t eaten. We told waiter who asked why we left the dish there, that the food wasn’t good, no follow up action taken. In a 5 star hotel!!! (3) there’s basically no selection of juices, and vegetarian options (only pasta) - Wi-Fi is pretty bad. - shampoo in the shower smells literally like poop, and seriously I can’t find a better word...

If you fancy being Robinson Crusoe, this is the place to come. Although not difficult to get to, you feel that you’ve left the rest of the world behind. The accommodation consists of mostly detached bungalows, right on the white sand beach and metres from the water. I think there were only about 20 rooms so there is never a crowd. The bungalows have a cool, rustic vibe, your own little piece of paradise. The snorkeling, either straight off the beach or from the jetty was the highlight for me. There was very little current, the water was clear, the coral was in pretty good condition and the number and variety of fish was all that a snorkeller could desire. The dive shop offers trips to dive sights and excursions to ‘must do’tourist experiences in the Komodo National Park. Not cheap, but worth it although I think the diving/snorkeling site was better suited to divers than snorkellers. For some reason, lots of reviewers have made comments on the food. It’s not haute cuisine but it’s fine. There is actually plenty of choice, there are local dishes and it tasted good. I would have liked some cereal at breakfast, but maybe I should have asked. When I did have a request, it was cheerfully met. It seems we all agree that the staff are delightful and hospitable. The bubbly Yati, the oh so charming Hendrik, the beautiful An and everyone else you encounter will do their best to look after you. No tv? Really? How is that a problem in this glorious location! Questionable wifi? Maybe that’s why every single person in the dining room seemed glued to their devices. Put them down and enjoy the company! If you are looking for simple laidback relaxation in a beautiful setting with glorious snorkeling right in front of you, then look no further. Enjoy!

We had a great stay at this resort. The diving and the dive centre were fantastic - friendly and efficiently run. We felt very safe diving with them. The island location was beautiful and the snorkeling at the reef off the beach was wonderful. The staff in the resort and dive centre were all very friendly and the service was excellent. The transfer to the island was smooth and efficient. The WiFi was not as bad as we expected and quite usable on most days at least near the restaurant. Although the choice of food was a little limited we enjoyed the food, especially the Indonesian dishes.

You have to be there to believe how extremely beautiful this place is. Go. You won't be disappointed. The entire staff will go above and beyond to create the experience you are looking for. No need to leave the island for another place. If you are looking for a place to relax and hit the reset button from the hustle of normal life, go!

Stayed here 4 nights on a tour of Indonesia. We had a sensible sized cottage, everything worked, good aircon, hot water when we needed it and a nice little balcony. Resort look after you well collecting you from the airport and taking you back when you return. There is a beautiful lagoon in front of the complex demarked to keep boats out with a pristine reef. You can snorkel on it or swim round. Hotel staff are all first rate, well trained and very friendly, it has a professional air to it but less formal. You are a bit of a,captive audience for meals but they aren’t excessively expensive so it’s not a chore to eat here. Choice is a bit limited but that kind of reflects the isolation, everything comes in by boat. There is a dive centre with professional people running it, we felt very safe with them, and they make it possible to go to Komodo and other islands of interest as well,as diving and snorkelling excursions. We had a great few days here with a mix of relaxing and activities and could recommend if you are in the area. It’s not cheap but we felt it was good value for what we got.

We stayed 5 nights at Seraya Sudamala resort and enjoyed every minute. Transport to and from the island was seamless. The resort has a beautiful setting with the white villas directly located at the white beach. The villas are sufficiently spacious and well thought through and feature a beautiful outdoor bathroom. All meals are taken at the main restaurant which also sits right on the beach. Food was really excellent. On top of the a la cart menu there are daily specials. Fish and salads were my favorites. Whether local or international dishes, all was very tasty. The staff is super friendly and helpful and makes you feel at home right from the start. The only area for improvement is the internet connection. While it was better at the end of our stay it was still not stable, but with the nice beach, great food and friendly service you don’t miss it too much. 5 stars for the resort! The dive center is run by Aqura Dive. The boats are well maintained and the staff is super helpful (special thanks to Zul and Pius,). The facilities for the equipment are in excellent shape. Two areas for improvement: 1) Sometimes the information flow about schedules and trips is not sufficient (I was informed that the schedule was changed from morning dives to afternoon dives only during breakfast of the same day). 2) The dive center combines excursions to Komodo National Park with dive and snorkeling trips, which can lead to long days on the boat. A more tailored offering for the various activities would be much better. 3.5 stars for the dive center.

We arrive at the resort drenched by the rain and it was nice of the service staff to hand us towels to dry ourselves up. The staffs were very friendly, engaging and attentive. We love the fact that the room is well decorated, clean and beautifully located by the beach however, one setback is that the room was not equipped with any entertertainment/ tv. Wifi is only available at the restaurant and it seems that the signal is bad on the whole island so be prepared to be disconnected from the rest of the world when you're there. Lol. Nonetheless, still a good experience overall.

Positive: Lovely island setting with nice beach and house reef that allows you to snorkel whenever you like at low and high tide. The beach is clean and plastic is swept up after every high tide! Very friendly and helpful staff. The sunset point is perfectly located and if you climb a little higher a real must whilst listening to the call to prayer. Diving is good with lots of various dive sites around the area (full and half day tours) and equipment and guides excellent. Negative: We had a bad start as the booking was retracted 6 weeks before arrival due to a "system error". We managed to get the preferred room back but it left a strange feeling. The Restaurant is badly organised and we waited for ages and food was not what one would expect. It seems supplies are hard to come by and there was never any fresh, daily varying dishes. This is a shame as the sea and island of Flores are not far off. There were no snacks offered or cakes/sweets in between meals. The Villa needs a good revamp, especially the bathrooms that are windowless and rather old fashioned. Tours to Komodo, Rinca etc. are quite expensive. I am sure the other Sudamala properties are better equipped - get Seraya up to that standard too - it would deserve it, the location and the people are definately worth it!

This Resort is just wonderful, for the following reasons: 1. The House Reef is stunning, full of life, and is given respect and care by the staff who care for it. 2. The rooms are beautiful, clean, well furnished and luxurious. 3. The location means you are only a short journey to the airport and an even shorter journey to some of the best marine life our planet has to offer. 4. The staff were probably the biggest reason we enjoyed our stay; they embody qualities we all should aspire to have, qualities that have made the Indonesian people renowned for their hospitality. A special special thanks to Yatti, Rasma, Hendrick, Nardi, Bung Sook and all of the staff there that I have missed out. In order to further improve your wonderful Resort, I would say two things. 1. I know that local rubbish and plastic pollution is awful, and we saw staff dealing with it but perhaps more diligence in picking this off a pristine beach would be good for the resort and National Park. 2. The menu should be improved, for the sake of variety and especially for those staying for longer. But again I know the staff and team are working on this. Thank you once again for having us, it was truly magical.

My husband and I had one of the most relaxing holiday with our 18 months old son during the Easter holiday at Sudamala Seraya. The bungalow is simple yet cozy and is right on the beach with our own private sun beds. The in house coral reef is good for snorkeling and the beach is clean with only occasional sighting of plastics. We like the ala carte menu and the food is good in general but would be lovely if there are some healthier options for ex: porridge/muesli with yogurt for breakfast. Or even avocado on toast since avocado is quite abundance in Indonesia. The best part of the resort is the staff who are mostly genuine friendly people. The staff in the restaurant went an extra mile to ensure that my son had something to eat since they do not have kids menu. They helped to provide avocado/mashed potato/steamed pumpkin etc for his dinner. They also adore my son and so does he. He even learned the local lingo “nak nak” from the staff and would shout out “nak nak” every time he saw them. All the staff made us feel at home in the resort. In summary, we love the place and the people and will definitely go back.
