The building and resort is located a few miles north of town near the marina. It is a beautiful resort that caters to travelers with multiple means of travel ie boat, car, or plane/taxi. When we arrived, staff welcomed us with a couple of drinks and some cold washcloths. Keep in mind that getting to town requires a shuttle or some kind of vehicle. The La Paz airport is on the opposite side of town and takes over 1/2 hour to get to. If you're coming from Cabo an easy back road exists to get you to the resort quickly. Our GPS routed us this back way and we ended up going through an industrial area with lots of large trucks that were coming from the ferry terminal. We also passed the diesel powered electric generation site which you won't miss. We ended up eating most of our meals in town and it only took a few minutes to get to town. The resort does have two restaurants but, we kind of prefer the open air dining that exists at most downtown restaurants and dined out frequently. We didn't opt for the room and buffet breakfast combo but, we would next time if we were to stay here. I think the buffet is $12/meal if you pay at the restaurant but, we saw it included in several hotel deals. It would be nice to have breakfast before heading out to snorkel or swim with the whale sharks or any other excursions. Hotel valets took care of our vehicle and it is included in the cost of the room other than leaving a tip for such good service. They are very quick at providing your car and they also helped with our bags Wifi was mediocre everywhere except in the room where the passwords did not work at all because of some sort of router authentication problem. It might have been an issue that affected only the far west end of the hotel. That said, cell and data service is really good here as it is throughout all of La Paz The rooms were very nice with a lot of nice tile work. The fully glassed shower is in the middle of room which is unique and adds to the room. The rooms were made up by lunch time every day and they offered a turn down service. The staff does an excellent job of keeping the hotel and rooms looking good. We sat by the pool one evening and it was fairly quiet but, active. The WIFI worked good and I was able to complete some work. The pool bar was opened after dark which made it convenient to get a drink. The hotel has a workout room with 2 treadmills, an elliptical, a stationary bike and some weights. Both treadmills were not functioning correctly but, the elliptical worked good. The resort also has a lap pool near the workout room. It's very nice and no one was using it. It's in a fairly secluded area which made it nice for both my wife and I to swim. We went on several excursions including Banderas, Tecolote, the island and the whale sharks. We used Fun Baja for our whale shark and Island snorkel tours. It was convenient because we could walk to it from our hotel. This hotel is in a good location if you have your own vehicle. If we did not have a vehicle, we would have stayed downtown where the many restaurants and stores are. Hit me with a thumbs up if this helps you make a decision. La Paz was a great vacation spot and I feel like we did a lot in our 4 day stay after spending the first part of the week in Cabo.
If I could, I would give this resort 10 stars!!! Great location just a 10 min drive to the Malecon (or use the free shuttle!!) and so many services available onsite, you can’t go wrong! Beautiful architecture, clean beyond expectation, friendly staff that absolutely bed over backwards to ensure your happiness!! We’re not pool people but very much enjoyed the pool. Food was outstanding, from the guacamole at the pool, to the fresh omelets and fresh juice daily in the Mosaic, the out of this world corn soup at Steinbecks...everywhere and everything was fantastic. Not cheap, but not expensive considering what you get. We’ve paid significantly more for a lot less. Absolutely not a single complaint!!! Special thanks to Jorge for making us feel so welcome everyday!
we got charge twice for our stay and they refused that they did that. My bank sent me all the documents that the hotel sent asking for the double charge. finally i was able to speak to the hotels bank manager and confirm that the hotel did charge twice. Supposedly they sent me a refund since September 8th , and I Have not received yet. The hotel does not answer my phone calls or emails this situation could have been prevented if the hotel had done the right thing. its been three month and my money is not in my bank. BE AWARE O WHAT YOU SIGN!
We weren’t expecting much, and when we came into the the hotel entrance you can have an idea of how big it is. Pools are amazing, staff is always fast and responsive. We would definitely come back. The beach at the front isn’t the best in the region, but it’s still very nice.
This is a fantastic getaway hidden gem for couples or groups to enjoy the serenity of LaPaz. The resort is just north of the town you don't need to leave as everything is at your fingertips. FunBaja.com is at the marina to take you on an excursion to swim with sea lions, and the infinity pool at the club house will keep you cool during the day. Cannot recommend enough. The staff is extremely friendly, sincere and attentive.
This is my second time to this place, the last time I was there it was fairly new in '08-'09 and it had a very relaxing and tranquil quality. This time when I visited in the last week of September 2017 a lot of changes. New buildings and a harbor the that could now accommodate larger yachts style sea-going vessels, to name a few. The ambiance I had experienced on my first visit had changed somewhat but the service remained above average. Since I had arrived not long after the hurricane had hit; the hotel was still in the process of making repairs and modifications, and some of that work going on during the day could have caused a great deal of grief for a weary traveler had it not been for the staff upgrading my room at a fair price to an area where there was a minimal amount of disturbance, disruption and distraction; And I thank the staff for giving me rm.203 located on the far west side of the resort which outside of some anomalies with the air conditioning was okay with me. The room was comfortable enough with a lot of space and two balconies, one facing south and the other west both with spectacular views. The hotel does offer breakfast buffet at the Mosaic one of the onsite restaurants there. In my view it is average based on my previous experience at this location years back when the Buffet was located where Steinbeck's restaurant currently is on the premises and there was a lot more items on table so to speak,The service there is very good nonetheless. However some new amenities have been added since my last visit such as a concierge, shuttle to and from town, shuttles around the property and marina; they have added room service which will bring food to your room if requested. They have a beach club that which is very pleasant and kid-friendly as well. In my assigned room I slept with my windows open as there was a good breeze coming in from the south which carried the faint scent of the sea. I think the windows are sound proof and have screens and blackout drapery. But it was still quiet enough at night to sleep with the windows open without being disturbed in any way. I did not eat at Steinbeck's restaurant as it wasn't quite ready yet, but in town for the most part because of the diversity of culinary cuisine available. Overall I enjoyed my stay and utilized each day to embark on a different adventure. I might add that I had originally made arrangements to go on this trip as a couple instead of solo. I went on an expedition with fun baja tours to Espirito Santo archipelago including Isla Partida and los Islotes with other travelers. They offer scuba, snorkeling and kayaking, hiking, paddle boarding to name a few of there activities. They are conveniently located on the premises within walking distance north of the beach club. The name officially now is Costa Baja Resort and Marina. There are currently a lot more pleasure craft, charter vessels including sea-going catamarans. Overall I would have given the place a three star but I realized that they were not quite finished with the repairs, the music in the lobby should have been instrumental in genre as it was originally for this place when it opened. I have a few more statements to make about this place in another review. Keep in mind people that tourist season starts in October in La Paz and ends several months later. I think that was one of the reasons the hurricane damage had to be assessed and addressed as soon as possible at the resort. The golf course was closed while I was there. If you are in rooms 203,303,403 bring your telescope as there is minimal light pollution and the clear night-time sky is spectacular. the larger patios in the aforementioned rooms have both beautiful view during the day as well as the night so long as its not cloudy.
We used the Costa Baja boats to go on scuba adventures for five days. Lots of amazing places to dive, and the crew and divemaster was awesome. Didn't have to worry about a thing.October is an excellent time to visit for scuba. Saw whalesharks, dolphins, sea lions, stingrays, puffer fish, parrot fish, stone fish, octopus (hard to find) and several kinds of schooling fish, as well as two ship wrecks. On one day, had lunch on a beautiful, secluded beach. Only concern was options around the marina for food and shopping, and other activities, which makes things a little harder if travelling with family. Lots of options in La Paz but need to taxi or use shuttle.
Costa Baja hotel is a beautiful luxury hotel. My only problem was that there were people working that created noise. Great swimming pool, very friendly staff, clean. There is a beautiful marina right next to the hotel. The hotel is on a beach and truly is a beautiful place. We enjoyed our stay very much and I suggest visiting La Paz from November to March, it is too hot for me other months of the year.
Just returned from a wonderful experience at the Cost Baja. My daughter, who lives in La Paz, and I share a birthday and decided to have a party with 40 guests. Being familiar with the Resort we went ahead and made the plans with the most professional assistance from Vidal their Sales Director. He made every step of the planning a breeze and the end result was simply amazing. I arrived a day before the party and was greeted by very friendly valet attendants. Rogelio with a huge smile, then walked me to the front desk and waited to ensure all bell boy duties were done professionally. Natalia checked me in with a smile and personality that is as beautiful as the La Paz day. Rooms were very clean, beds are extremely comfortable and all of the staff is quick to wish a buen dia and assist with any needs that you might have. I attribute my 5 star experience to the General Manager Eduardo. He is a hands on manager, who leads by example and is constantly roaming the property to ensure the guests are having a quality experience. Thanks are not enough for the wonderful 5 star experience that my quests and I experienced. We are already looking forward to our next visit.
I have travelled extensively through Mexico and its not often I review a hotel on Trip Advisor but I felt the CostaBaja deserves credit where credit is due. I stayed at the CostaBaja for a week in September for a diving holiday with my daughter The hotel and staff were without a doubt 5 star! The amenities are top notch, pools are amazing, beach is beautiful and the rooms were spacious, first class. The hotel is the right size, not overwhelming big but large enough to find privacy if you want. The staff were all excellent and very accommodating but never in your face. Thank you CostaBaja for a truly memorable holiday.
