Overall its up to the par. U get what u pay for. Remember this is a 3 stars hotel. Don’t expect to much. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is just walking distance to the pier and a lot of eateries place nearby. There’s 7eleven nearby the pier as well. If u drive, there’s parking space available for 100bath per day if u leave ur car there to go to koh lipe.

Okay, it is not as bad anymore as Nic puts it in his review, and we did not resort to the fishing hooks... we do not mind basic (and we have been hiking in the mountains) but this... Of course you should not expect much for the price... but at least clean it should be... unless you are a collector of pubic hair... the you hit the jackpot. We opted to skip the shower that day despite the temperature...

Its like cozy village room. Rooms were built surround a fish pond, which my children enjoy watching the fishes. Room size is not too cramp, just nice and the bathroom is spacious. The staff is very helpful and friendly, always smile, and was there to help even we arrive a little bit late. They also give free rides to the pier.

For 1 night, waiting for the boat in the morning, it Is perfect. It is just renovated, so was very good for the money. Very near walking distance to the pier, anyway they bring for Free to the boat. Next to the 7/11. Some places to eat near by, we found a very good one more distant in opposit way from.the pier direction. Very nice people

This place is so bad I dont even know where to start. Managed to get a 590bht room for 400 in low season and I think even this is overpriced for this. We shared a room with gecko and other screechy voices from inside the room and hollow walls. Could sleep only to 3am and stayed up till the morning. We stayed there just to catch a ferry. The a/c is terrible you wake up the whole village with it. Recommendation: stay away from this place!

It's cheap for a night but not happy, we had a wasp nest in the roof and there was a leak in the bathroom! There is not a lots to do outside of this resort. The only reason to stay is for the ferry! The staff are not as friendly as other places I stayed, and most don't speak English, not that that's bad.

I will start my review by offering a morsel of advice; run, do not walk very far away from this dreadful abomination of an excuse of accommodation. Apparently constructed by the person upon whom Nigel Bates' character was based, this charmless, fetid swamp has all the charm of a mortuary three weeks after a power cut. My bungalow was complete with a window through which the mongol hordes could have passed without notice, that closed only after having received not-so-delicate persuasion. I will concede that the chap at the front desk alluded to the possibility of leaving valuables with him, instead of risking leaving them in the room. I took my chances and carried everything of value with me, whilst trying to find some dinner. The bungalow was also fitted with something, one assumes, was once either an air conditioning unit or the power house for a soviet tank that annexed Czechoslovakia in 1968. It sits, today, thrumming away, dripping either water or corrosive materials merrily into Bungalow 06 at Best House (Last) Resort, managing to cool the tepid, stagnant air that permeates the dwelling, by a few tenths of a degree. Whilst the air remains warm, at least above the din of the air conditioner/tank engine you cannot hear the rustling of rodents from within the bed - a welcome distraction, when sleep evades your every attempt. As well as the rodent life, we must not forget the additional occupancy in the bungalow, mostly contained within the 1970's throwback velour headboard, of the mosquito population of the west coast of Thailand. Pleasant that it is that they have found sanctuary, I was displeased that I was the guest buffet for the evening. The bed clothes were, well, they, didn't really exist! Instead I was treated to a blue towel. Impressed as I was with the towel, and as well as it did absorbing the sweat from my mosquito bitten back, I remained unimpressed at its ability to function as bed clothing. I have once before used a towel to wrap myself as I slept but that was as a result of too much tequila and temporary paralysis. But I digress. The bungalow had a colour tv, with access to tv channels. Bravo. As I lay awake, wondering how many people had ended their lives in this drab and unhappy room, my attention was drawn outside to what I can only assume was a monkey being torn to pieces by rabid dogs. I acknowledge that the management cannot be held responsible for external noise pollution, but a window that fits the hole is a good starting point. I short, I implore you to avoid this shocking cesspit and instead sleep face down in a sewer, whilst stabbing your nose with fishing hooks; I can almost guarantee you will find a more peaceful slumber and a much more enjoyable night. In the morning I was completely un-surprised by the total lack of human representation at the front desk to whom I could have either aired my grievances or simply punched square in the face. Feeling rather glad that I didn't gift my valuables to him the previous evening, I left and did not look back.

We stayed here for one night in a Standard Double room with a/c for the fixed 590B price. Nice enough rooms, good size, with a/c, TV, ensuite, a table and 2 free bottles of water. Easy walking distance to a 7-11, ATMs, tour agencies, and the ferry pier. The rooms are quite tired with a musty smell, pealing walls and leaking a/c. The rooms sit around a small lake which seems to attract a lot of mosquitos day and night. No breakfast included, and as we came in low season, the restaurant was closed so we ate at Marina Resort & Restaurant, about 10min walk away which did good food. Pakbara is a very small place with an unattractive beach (has rocks and wire mesh along it which makes it difficult for swimming), and very little to do. So only stay here if you have to catch a ferry.

We stayed one night at the Best House Resort because it was close to the ferry to Tarutao Marine National Park, for which we were leaving in the morning. Pak Bara is one long street down to the pier, and the Best House is about 100 meters from the end. It's basic accommodation, but cheap, clean and serviceable, with attached bath, cold AC, instant hot water and, incredibly, excellent WiFi right in the room. All for 590 baht. Pack, the young and earnest general manager, who speaks improving English, is full of information about shops, restaurants, ferries and other transport. He has a scooter and sidecar that takes people and luggage, and he can get you most places you need to go. Only a couple of quibbles: There was no top sheet or blanket on the bed, only an enormous towel. That would have been OK, but the AC was acting up and its only setting was freezing. The rooms surround a stagnant pond, and we had the misfortune to get the only one without screens in the bathroom. Pack got us a mosquito coil, but it wasn't enough. Still, for a one horse town like Pak Bara, it was all right, and we'd go there again. Tip: Unless Pack has fixed it, stay away from Room #5. All others have screens.

Our hotel room at Best House Resort was dirty. When we came, the receptionist told us we would get a special Price, although it was the same price on the sign outside the hotel. Only positive was the to free bottles of water.
