We have stopped here many times for a snack when in La Jonquera. We stop here to get diesel. Staff are friendly and efficient. No complaints. Convenient to supermarkets and the motorway. Basically a truck stop.
Have had a overnight stay her twice the last 3 years. And the last time now in May, one could see that nothing was done to improve or upgrade the hotel. It is a cheap and okey place just to crash and get a few hours of sleep but that's it!! Better spend a few bucks more further in the town and get something more decent.
The entrance past a supermarket then up stairs and opposite Bingo Hall creates the impression. Staff very off hand demanding to know if breakfast was required and taking full payment. Window, looked out over lorry park, as expected in La Jonquera. Room bare but acceptable. However not to three star standard. Pre-paid breakfast terrible. Do you have croissant, No. Jambon, No. fromage, No. pain, No. I had cheap juice and coffee and a choice between two slices of dried bread ! Not to be recommended.
If I had done a bit more research I would have avoided this place, but the 3-star rating sounded good on Hotels.com and the pictures looked ok... But reality was different. The hotel is located in a truck stop and shopping area in a building called 'Euro Center' which also houses a bingo club, a supermarket, a buffet restaurant and a wildly overpriced bar/restaurant. The hotel is on the second floor and is more hard to find when you arrive. Room basic but ok if you can live with tiled floor. Air conditioning worked but noisy. Most annoying was the smell of disinfectants from the clean bathroom which we had to live with for the night. Breakfast was included in our price but frankly it wasn't worth a dime with prepackaged everything and un-drinkable coffee. I would not recommend staying here unless you have no other option available.
This hotel is a truckstop on the French/Catalan border. Thecrooms are extremely basic but the sheets are clean and the beds acceptable. There is a buffet restaurant adjacent to the hotel which provides an all you can eat and drink menu for €17.50. The downside of the stay was the number of locals who persisted in smoking just inside the doors and, as a non-smoker, made the atmosphere somewhat grim. There were also a number of "ladies of the night" in the area. If all you want is a clean basic bed for the night no problem. Not the place for families
Easy to find but getting in is the trick. The entrance is next to the Supermarket or around the back by the Truck stop.Reception is on the first floor. Once you enter the hotel any doubts about it caused by location are quashed. The staff are very helpful. The rooms are very comfortable and quite large. There is restaurants in same building and also a supermarket. We will return.
We travelled from southern Spain and decided to stay on the border after a long drive. The hotel was easy to find using Tom Tom but you have to look up as it on on the 1st floor. Reception staff were very friendly and we got a large room looking onto the inner area, as per the photo so it was very quiet. The location was fine, a bit away from all the shops but we did not mind for just an overnight stay. The issue came at bed-time, as the bed was like sleeping on a bed of nails, very uncomfortable with springs digging into you!! We would have given the hotel 5 stars but for this, and yes we will go back but if the same issue is experienced we will complain!! Down stairs is a massive restaurant with a fill your boots buffet for 17.50 euros, we have reviewed it separately but it is brilliant and made our night!!
Have stayed in this establishment on numerous occasions and decided finally to write this review to tell others about the constant very good standards the hotel has maintained , The reception staff is very welcoming and friendly and for this reason i am always drawn back to book agin and again , Thank you .
Hotel is situated just before the border between spain and france. Since I prefer spanish hotel over french, the location is very good. In the area is some restaurants that serve descent food. Bonus is that it has petrol station ariund the corner as well as many shops! Good value for money, 81 incl breakfast(10)
Having used La Jonquera many times and know it never sleeps in relation to the movement of trucks my room at the hotel on the front was very quiet, the room was pleasant and cool with air con and suited well. Two single beds one comfy and one like a board. I opted to have the buffet breakfast which in some hotels is a good choice but I think the word buffet should be dropped and just breakfast used :- orange juice - pleasant, cerials - Cornflakes, Yogurt very watery and long life sliced bread although there is a supermarket within 50 m and jam, coffee was ok but gives slightly a higher impression of itself than what was offered. Parking is always a risk and the Hotel staff said parking was safer on the lorry park side of the hotel as that was regularly policed.
