This is a very beautiful lodge in La Fortuna!!! This was my favourite hotel that I stayed in while in Costa Rica....I went with one other friend in the off peak (rainy season). I stayed in a Superior Queen room which was beautiful and clean!!!!!! The hotel is next to the waterfall so the sounds of it was so soothing (my cabin was nearby) on a clear day you have a nice view of the volcano. This property is about 5min drive from downtown, some ppl walk but I took an uber that cost $1-2 USD. Thos hotel is also next to where you zip line and the La Fortuna waterfall. The grounds are beautifully maintained. The staff is friendly and every day the maids made beautiful art with the towels. The only con is there are 2 choices for free breakfast which are typical Costa Rican breakfast (eggs, beans and rice and yellow plantain) or continental (toast, fruits) both come with OJ, tea/coffee and water....anything else you may want will cost. I stayed for 3 nights and absolutely enjoyed my stay! Will definitely stay here again!!!
We only spent one night but was surprised at how lovely it was. It was a last minute booking and we thought we were just booking a room but it was a little bungalow. It was clean basic but nice. The breakfast was ok not a lot of choice. I had a walk around the gardens in the morning which was alive with birds and squirrels. Some lovely flowers and plants to enjoy.
We were at Las Orquideas last weekend for my wife’s birthday, we stood for one night only, the rate was ok and based on the reviews we thought we made the right call. I couldn’t be more mistaken: I got to tell you: the rooms were cozy and everything was impecable, HOWEVER they need to make serious improvement on customer service quality: first, the asked me for a credit card in case I might break/steal something from the room, which is something I’ve never experienced before, but that was nothing. At a time for breakfast we asked for fruit and they told us that it wasn’t included in our rate, however the guys sit next to us had a complete different type of breakfast, with fruit, cereal and we were told that it was because of the rate the we got, which if you asked me doesn’t make a sense at all. My wife was looking forward to have some fruit and she got so disappointed, she didn’t have anything for breakfast and started to feel bad, so we asked the girl in the front desk if she would let us do the check out at noon instead of 11:00 am so she could recover...her answer was if you leave at 11:05 am I will charge you with half of the room’s rate. So, basically we gathered all our belongings and left. Then, we realized they have different approaches for the tourists they received: fo foreign tourism they treat them incredible, domestic tourism? hmmm not so much... I’m giving them two stars: one for the room which was impecable and the other star for the guy in the kitchen that manage to “sneak” some cereal for my wife so she would eat something. And no, I would never go back to that hotel in my life nor recommend it to anybody.
Loved this property. The rooms were nice and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. They helped us book all our activities and transport. The hotel is approx. 1km walk from La Fortuna- no problem walking or getting a cab. Definitely recommend. The only thing I wish they had were screens on the room windows so we could get fresh air in the room without the possibility of bugs getting in. Thank u for the great experience!!
This hotel was great. The rooms were clean, air conditioned and there was hot water. The restaurant on site was amazing too. They even cooked our catch of the day that we brought back after fishing. The grounds were beautiful. We only were supposed to stay here for a night and ended up staying for four. Definitely recommend
Traveled March 2018 with my wife and some friends and spend 1 night here while in La Fortuna. Was a very nice unit with 2 rooms, hot water shower, kitchenette and air conditioning. There was a small pool and it was great being so close to a nice running river. Definitely worth a stay. It's quiet, just outside town and you have great views of the volcano and lots of birds in the area to snap if you're travelling with a camera
We were very well accommodate in a room with two doublebeds. The surrounding gardens are beautiful and we have a view to Arenal Volcano and the sound of Rio Fortuna on the back. The restaurant was a great option: from chicken quesadilla, casados and soaps to scrambled eggs and pancakes, everything was delicious and tasted like homemade food. The cost benefit was great!! The staff in the restaurant was specially friendly. As opposed to the reception in the afternoon. The last was not impolite nor rude, but not interested in helping or be more sympathetic. To exemplify what I mean, the first day we arrived, my husband took a shower first. By the time I would take myself, we run out is water. When I shared this information with her, she just carelessly mentioned that there was a repair and water would be back in 30 minutes with an arrogant attitude. No apologies for the inconvenience.
Me and my few friends stayed here back in March and fell in LOVE with the place. It is in such a great location, not in the centre of town but minutes from it. The staff were SO helpful. We did not have a rental car and were relying on Taxis and the owner of the hotel would pick us up and drop us off anywhere we wanted. They wanted us to experience the true Costa Rican lifestyle, and by this, they took us to places where tourists arent normally to go too. The room we had was amazing, AC is a MUST and these rooms have it, thankfully. The property is to die for. Beautiful gardens and amazing view of Volcano. Overall 11/10, When we come back to Costa Rica, we WILL be staying here. P.S the hotel dog Bobby is SO cute!!! I love him!!
I stayed here at Las Orquideas Boutique Hotel for the first half of my trip in Costa Rica. The property is beautiful and quiet. The rooms are clean and comfy. The staff is absolutely amazing, they helped us with everything or anything we needed. They suggested places to go and all of them were great. The owner is awesome, picked up my friends and I at the airport as well as drove us to Tamarindo! If they saw us in town they would give us a ride back to the hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in La Fortuna.
From the airport pick up at 2am to the moment we left two and a half days later, the service and attention to detail was nothing short of impeccable. We were given somewhere to sleep when we arrived around 4am, even though our booking was for the following night. As soon as our room was available we were allowed to check in, 3 hours before their standard check-in time. The owner/manager Gustavos was amazing and organised taxis, tours and hot springs for us at the drop of a hat. An ideal location, lovely hotel and excellent service.
