Check in is disorganized, and had to wait a long time. We were not given much direction or told much, just thrown into the check in office with the crowd after getting off our tranportation from the airport. Room view was not what was in the description. However, room was always cleaned, and turn down service was done nightly. My friends had complaints that their mini fridge wasn't restocked. After checking in we were hungry, and looking for food. Staff was not helpful in pointing us where we could eat. Staff was not aware of many different things located within the hotel. Staff around the children's pool was rude, however staff in the adult pool were amazing, and quick! I can agree with the reviews that warned us not to expect the hospitality you may be use to when you visit a resort in Mexico. staff is reserve, and many had faces and attitudes that they dislike the job or maybe the people. Portifinos was disappointing, service was terrible. Continuously had to get up and look for a waiter, it took longer than two hours just to get our meal. The patio (Mexican restaurant) food was amazing! Service lagged but not like other restaurants. Breakfast was standard for a buffet. Drinks are stronger at the pool. Children play in the adult pool even though there's a clear sign they can't pass a specific point.

Big, very tasteful and well-designed rooms and excellent facilities, with inconsistent service and dining. Geared for groups and too large to be personal or entirely convenient if you aren’t in the most premium rooms. Good activities for children but unhappily even infants are permitted in all pools in spite of signs to contrary. Indifferent to unpleasant attitudes of bartenders and management in particular. Hard to recommend at the price point.

Costa Rica is a beautiful country and the location itself is nice, but it's far from everything. Most of the excursions are between 2-4 hours drive on a very bumpy road. The excursions (shop around) are nice they have ATV rides, horseback riding, zip lining, the volcanic hot baths and mud baths and some things we didn't try like whitewater rafting. So that part is all good, if not fairly expensive. The food though was pretty bad, basically like eating at a buffet in your college dorms. I've only stayed at one other all inclusive, the Secrets at Cabo San Lucas and the food there was very good. So I guess that's what I expected since it's the same company, but there's a world of difference. I suppose it's hotel dependent. The staff is also fairly slow because they're understaffed (not their fault) Also it's very difficult to get a chair by the pools. People leave a hat or item there and go away for 6 hours blocking that chair from use. Since more or less everyone does that, it's pretty impossible to find chairs unless you "reserve" them early, which is supposedly against hotel policy but everyone does it anyways. I'm not sure it's the hotels fault as much as human nature, so what can you do. Maybe a reservation system that limits the use to 1-2 hours or something, who knows?

why do men have to wear a shirt but women can wear anything they want when eating in the restaurant??? the bar next to the seaside grill doesn't even open until 10:00 o'clock, why??? the worst part of your hotel, is the road getting there, worst road in Costa Rica

I stayed 3 days with my family, I only can say that everything was wonderfull. I love the staff, they were happiness and helpful in every moment.

It was nice. Rooms could have been a little cleaner. Service was OK but could have been faster.

Hard review to write because most of the stay was great, while a few things were terrible. The road to the Dreams (the last 13 KM) was very bumpy. Not like a few potholes, which is what I expected, but sharp jagged rocks imbedded in the road. The rental car companies are always trying to up-sell, so I turned down the SUV which was a big mistake. If you are renting a car, get the SUV. It'll make your trip in and out a lot faster. The service in the restaurants is incredibly bad. The bars too, just not as bad. The servers do not seem interested in you in the least. Every morning, we had to get our own coffee, every evening the food and drinks took incredibly long and the servers did not care, nor apologize. The resort is all inclusive and tips are rare. I thought it would help if I tipped, so I did for a few days and it still did not matter. We ran across an employee on our way through the airport and we asked him about it. He said that everyone is salaried. They work 12-15 hours a day, 6 days a week. So of course they are a bit surly. If you are used to Mexico service and friendliness, you are bound to be disappointed. It is not uncommon for an employee to unload about their day to you...which can be a bit off-putting. Now, the good stuff. Fishing is awesome there. The beach is amazing. It's the only resort in the area so it was never crowded. The resort is a pretty big one but it is laid out with smaller buildings so it never felt like a mega resort. The rooms are super nice and the wifi is everywhere including the beach. The pools were very nice as well. The property is well maintained and beautiful. The monkeys came to the beach about 4 times in the 8 days we were there. The maid service is great! Those employees are saints for sure. The food isn't great, but it's not bad either. Surprisingly, the buffets were the highlight along with the sushi. The location is close to Nicaragua, so day trip tours are very easy. And Nicaragua is awesome! My wife and I took our car and a local Costa Rican was at the customs location to help us get through. This man worked off tips but we could not have gotten through to Nic without him. There were many buildings and it seemed like many strange customs to get through customs. He set us up with a taxi and our driver took us to Grenada. The drive was long but beautiful. Grenada did not disappoint. The food, the architecture and the market were all impressive. The resort offers day trips that leave early and get back late (they see much more than we did)...the only thing is that you are traveling with other people all day (whom you may or may not know) and my wife and I enjoy a little adventure so went alone.

This is the 3rd dreams property we stayed at and while beautiful because of how new it was is difficult to judge. They kept the buffet closed for 5 days in a row and left the guests to fight it out in trying to get a seat at the restaurants. This is very inconvenient with kids and the solution offered is come and eat early. Not exactly what we had in mind for a vacation (daily). That said, it's a beautiful property with lots of opportunity to improve. I would consider going back when kids are over 12 to really enjoy what the area has to offer in ecotourism.

Had a great time. Service wasn't the best, and restaurants weren't that great. I was put in a room separate from my friends, way across the other side of the resort. It's a hike to get anywhere. Otherwise, we did have a great time
