Rooms are great and spacious, housekeeping services need a lot of attention, waited so long for simple items and rooms were never cleaned properly, items like water bottles was not replaced from the second night, tea and coffee wasn't replaced as well, staff need to be trained more especially in the restaurant, the waiter had no idea what was happening, breakfast needs to be more attractive and appetizing, but overall a great stay

Well done to the staff at this hotel for being hospitable and helpful, and always smiling. Our penthouse was extremely clean, the breakfast was delicious and of course the location is unbeatable. Thank you for an awesome weekend. :)

I had booked the loft-type room, and was very impressed with the shear cleanliness and tidiness of the large area. The rooms could only be accessed with a key-card from the elevator, which put me at ease security wise. The room had three floors, the middle floor was the kitchen and living area which led to the balcony with an astounding view of Gateway; the bottom floor was the one room with two-twin beds and the final room on that floor was the queen bed. The bathrooms are quite spacious, and the room on top was as well. The breakfast at the hotel could cater better for vegetarians/vegans or people with certain dietary needs. The hotel food won't matter that much as Gateway is across the street for a much more varied dining experience. The staff of the hotel are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and are at a great value for the price paid. If there was one thing that annoyed me it was the very bare kitchen and small fridge. The kitchen comes equipped with minimal crockery and cutlery and the fridge should be bigger to house the occupant's meals and drinks as the whole room can sleep 6 people. Over all the experience was good, and I would definitely come back again.

stayed at Royal Palm two years ago and have found some improvements since There was more crockery and cutlery in the Kitchenette. I found the new couches to be more comfortable. The cleaning service was of a high standard. The restaurant staff were efficient and friendly. I stayed in the Penthouse and would like to mention that there was mould in the bathrooms. Secondly the main bathroom tile had a large chip on it. These are little things that can be fixed easly.

My overall impression of Royal the hotel is positive. Staff from Reception to the Cleaners are very friendly, approachable. No request is too much for them. That is a very big plus on the part of the hotel. I didn't quite appreciate the level of noise throughout the night from the cars along the road. I found that very disturbing. The mattress in the main suite is very hard. I would recommend the hotel looks into acquiring pillows for the mattresses. Everything else was spot on. I will consider coming back to the hotel.

I am a young student who spent three months in SA. I decided to treat myself and get the junior suite. this was almost spotless (im a believer nothing is perfect), very spacious and met my needs. the breakfast too was great. the only problems were some lights didnt work and wifi was capped.

I only stayed for one night but the staff were excellent, very professional. The room I had was a suite and had plenty of space including a balcony - very modern and nicely decorated. Unfortunately, i did not eat there or have a drink in the bar, but both looked welcoming. If you need accommodation in Umhlanga, this is a good option and within walking distance of the mall and various restaurants.

Staff at reception were not welcoming. Breakfast was ok but didn't really cater for vegetarians e.g. The vegetable dish had chicken in it. The room was great, very clean and housekeeping staff were friendly. I don't like that there isn't a door between the bathroom.

Low lights: Housekeeping needs training on communication & service standards. My mom called requesting an adaptor the lady at the other end said ok. 20mins later no adaptor. I called again, lady at the end said ok, a further 15 mins later, nothing. Called a total of 35mins later asking the lady if there was a problem with getting the adaptor because we'd called twice already & waited over 35mins , when we call the person on the other end says OK but still no adaptor. Then she said, "what is your request?" without a care in the world so I said, can we please get the adaptor then she said the magic words, OK. 3 calls, 45 mins later & no apology it was brought up. Ordered a medium steak which was well done, this was corrected & the subsequent perfectly cooked steak was brought up. Lady at reception was texting on arrival so we were actually going past her to the next lady when she asked us to sit & helped us. Overall the service was reactive & not of 4 star level. Highlights : The lobby, dining & parking area staff were helpful & professional. Ample options at breakfast! The room was lovely. Big, well decorated, clean with all inroom facilities . It would be perfect for long term stay.

The staff is very friendly and the rooms are very spacious. The food is great from breakfast to dinner at the DISH restaurant. The property is located few steps to the Gateway Shopping Mall with easy access to most of the business offices.
