Disliked: Cleanliness
Unit was not that clean. Master bathroom sink didnt drain very well. We didn’t have enough towels when we arrived and had to go get them. Did not communicate to us about the pool that was closed. The fire alarm went off multiple times for long periods of time which disabled the elevator. That did not work well for the older people in our group. The staff was kind and the deck was nice.

Labor Day disappointment
Location was great. Right on the ocean was wonderful. The property itself was not in good shape. Dryer did not work. Dishwasher would not drain. A drawer fell out of the cabinets. There was nothing to was dishes with and since DW wasn’t working this was a problem. Chair feet fell off. The WiFi was extremely slow when it was even working. Description of property was not clear that we had to clean the property ourselves before leaving. Only 1 roll of toilet paper per bathroom for a family of 4 for 3 nights was not right and once again unexpected since this is not in the description. Even small things like the frying pans. They were very cheap and impossible to cook on without everything sticking to them. We realize there are always small quirks with VRBOs and this was the 6th one we stayed at this summer and by far the worst. Disappointing way to end the summer. One other note, the beach is eroding at this property and the sand is a very small area. So while it’s awesome to be so close To the ocean you need to get to the sand early to get a spot or it gets crowded fast.

Great beach and condo; mixed review of the community
First off, the location of the condo was fantastic. The 3rd floor deck gets sun all morning and is shady starting around 2:30 in the afternoon. In addition to going to the beach each day, we enjoyed the ocean from the deck and had meals, played cards and read on the adirondack chairs out there. The bedrooms were comfy and from the master we fell asleep and awoke to the sounds of the ocean each day.
We loved the unit with two minor complaints. I don't think a deep clean was done prior to our arrival, although that is what the property management group claimed they were doing to combat the coronavirus. The only other minor issue was that the kitchen was missing some items that we would consider standard and which we really missed during this pandemic time since we were preparing almost all of our own meals. Mainly there were no sharp knives for prepping vegetables and cutting meat, and there were no true mixing or salad bowls. We made do with what was there, but we're used to having these items when we travel to rental properties.
The unit is a long walkable and easily bikeable to Fort Fisher and it's less crowded beach. We really enjoyed exploring Fort Fisher and jogging/biking along its main road. Having the beach right in front of us and other outdoor options so nearby was great and we took full advantage of that.
We also biked into the main town of Kure and to Carolina beach. Both towns seemed very cute, but we were disappointed with a general lack of concern around the virus and large numbers of visitors not following social distancing guidelines or wearing masks. To be clear, all of the restaurants and businesses were taking things seriously, but the majority of customers were not. This was less of a problem at the beach as we were able to maintain social distancing throughout the week, but even there many were crowding along the beach access and the foot showers rather than providing room for folks to get by first.
So basically, the location and our family experience was very good, but if you are concerned about transmission of the virus, I might recommend a different location at this time - one where both the shops and the tourists are taking the proper precautions.
