I found this hotel to be very clean and tidy and close to all amenities (bars!) in the town. The hotel is spread across two building which are connected by an internal pedestrian tunnel under the road. This makes the hotel much bigger than initially appears. The rooms were basic......mine was a little small, but had everything i needed for a short and pleasant stay.
I have stayed in this hotel on several occasions and different seasons. Last time I had a recently refurbished room for four nights in the old building overlooking the beautiful park. Room was extremely sound proof. Even it was located just above the busy breakfast room I could not hear any noise, neither from the corridor. I do not have a clue when the cleaners did their job as I did not hear (you know the usual hoovering sound early in the morning...) or see any of them during my stay. Anyhow my room was super tidy and fresh every time I returned there. I slept so well during my stay because of the big and comfortable bed. Breakfast buffet was one of the best I ever experienced in any hotel and it was included in the price. Staff was so friendly, helpful and available at all times paying attention to the little details. Hotel has an excellent location in the heart of Kuopio: few steps away from the central market square, harbour, lovely lake and nature, best restaurants, bars, railway station, etc. Great value for money!
The hotel is nice, clean and comfortable itself: It has a good location at the middle of the town, near the church. I had a superior room which was more like a suite: One bedroom and a living room. Televisions at the both of the rooms, coffee and tea making facilities. Bath room was stylish with a shower cabin. I hate bath tubes... Althought there could be bigger table at there near the sink. Liked the make up mirror. Room was new and fresh. Did not hear much of the sounds by night. Early morning there were some traffic sounds from the street. Hotel was full of guests at the time and breakfast was full. When I decided not to eat the breakfast there (had to hurry to the train) the waiter did something which I keep telling to everybody: She asked what kind of sandwiches I liked and made them for me to eat at the train. There were also juice, an apple and chocolate. I was so pleased and when I left she welcomed me back to Savo-land again. This is what I call an excellent customer service! Five stars to that waiter.
Our room was really a small one. Not sure if it was small only because it was a cheap offer. Windows were on parking site, so there was nothing nice to say about the room itself. Breakfast room was updated since last visit and it was spacy, and due the holiday season full and noisy. The breakfast itself was very good. You need to pay of parking place. Service was okey and hotel is situated near harbour/lake, so it easy to reach. I can recommend anyway.
Stayed three nights the first weekend in Sept ’17 and thoroughly enjoyed the hotel. There are two buildings, the original building looks out over a beautiful park, my room was in the newer building. There was a relaxed atmosphere despite the hotel fully booked two of the nights. The room was comfortable, clean and exceptionally quiet. Buffet breakfast was extensive, both hot and cold service, with an attentive wait staff. The front desk staff was especially helpful with recommendations for restaurants and transportation. The city is designed for pedestrians and the hotel is only a few blocks from the main square, with loads of shopping and restaurants. Would gladly stay again.
The hotel is centrally located: 10 minutes walk to the beach and the market place, 15 minutes walk to the railway station. The hotel is a quite big complex on both sides of the street. The lobby is in the new wing. The restaurants Ehta and Frans & Sophie are in the old wing which is actually three different buildings. It can be noticed from the room hallways. They have three different styles. Our suite was located at the other end of the old wing. It was a quite long walk from the reception. There is an underground passage between the wings. The suite was a spacious room. The bedroom and the bathroom were colourful. There was a blue free-standing bathtub and a sauna in the bathroom. The living room would need some refurnish. There was a small sofa table in the middle of the big room and the two sofas were so far from it that it could not be used while sitting. We had dinner in the new Ehta restaurant which is a burger restaurant. The service was excellent from a male waiter speaking the funny Savo dialect. The food could have been better. My burger was salty and my partner's pike perch was tasteless. The breakfast is served at Frans & Sophie restaurant. It had a good selection of food and plenty of free and clean tables.
Close to lake - great for walking. Comfy and very clean. Rooms slightly small but practical and good for a short visit. Good shower and very comfy beds. Local supermarket just down the road. Good breakfast. Would stay again.
Our Superior room was spacious, clean and especially the beds were really comfort. The service was fluent and the breakfast was a little bit better than mid-level. The hotel is located perfectly in the heart of the city and still only from a few steps from the harbour.
We stayed for one night in a superior x king room that has a low (160 cm) loft. For our family of three this was a nice choice. One can sleep upstairs while others are watching telly downstairs. Hotel has nice breakfast, friendly and helpfull staff (they e.g. told us they are selling tickets to ship cruise on Kallavesi at reduced price). Hotel is located centrally between Kallavesi lake and heart of the city.
Many thanks to the wondefull staff that helped us with our sick toddler. The cleaning lady came within minutes and did all the dirty work for us and helped with extra towels. The room was nice and quiet situated on the other side of the road from the reception. Hotel gym was small but had a nice view. I got my training done. Parking was easy and downtown Kuopio within walking distance. Breakfast was basic hotel breakfast but we got our stomachs full. Will come again.
