The staff there tries hard to make this stay a good one but the hotel itself is quite a bit dated. The shuttle to the station is very much needed but it doesn't run all day. The location of the hotel is a bit off but you have nice view of the river in the front of the hotel and a view of the castle (far away) in the back. I am a IHG spire member and got zero recognition. Was only promised a "great" benefit of one newspaper per day, which didn't come anyway. Would stay elsewhere the next time, partly due to location and no recognition as a spire member.

因為是優悅會白金會員,即便是用點數兌換住宿,也獲得客房升等及免費的餐廳自助式早餐(非常棒)。旅館位置不在市區,但有提供免費接駁巴士到火車站。 As an IHG Rewards Club Platinum Member, I was given a room upgrade and free buffet at the restaurant (excellent) on a reward night. The hotel is not located downtown but provides free shuttle service to the train station.

Hotel was first class in every way. Food was excellent, varied and fresh every day. Staff were superb - they could not have been more helpful. Situation of the hotel was such that it was a short walk into the town.

I stay with my wife in there. ANA Crown Plaza provides you a good sleep service which made us refreshed. The staffs in there are absolutely well trained. They perform their profession all the time with smile. The river view from room is also good to have. The most important for us is the Crown Plaza breakfast never lets us down. That's why I always bring my family travel in anywhere, staying in Crown Plaza.

The hotel is within walking distance along a nice river walk from the JR station. As our JR arrived after 7pm, so the shuttle bus is no longer available but the walk was very easy even with luggages. The room is very spacious and clean, the only downside is during our stay, part of the building is under renovation and the air conditioning did not work in our room and it did feel a bit hot at times. Other than that, I would recommend this hotel when you stay in Kumamoto. We were able to walk to downtown as well, or can easily hop on the city tram. You get to stay in a quiet area but also easily accessible to the city centre.

Positives: -Nice big rooms (we had 3 persons and the size was still pretty good) and we had a river view. A good deal of amenities were offered and the room was well appointed with modern furnishings. The beds were large and comfortable and they had so many pillows! Wifi was really good and reliable and there were more than sufficient power points. -Free kumamoto themed shuttle to and from Kumamoto central station at fixed timings (check with hotel on latest timetable) -Very close to a city tram station. Alternatively it is relatively easy to walk to castle area and main shopping street (Shimotori) and takes around 20 mins one way which is what we did - Service is courteous and polite. Staff acknowledge you everywhere and are friendly and helpful whether at the lobby or at the restaurant. When we were checked in, we were shown to our room by a very pleasant young lady who answered all our questions. Quite a number of staff could communicate in English, which was a plus. - breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of western and Japanese options including a station where you can order cook to order eggs. Quality of the food items overall was very high. I appreciate that you can sample local vegetable pickles and the spicy stuffed lotus root (which is a Kumamoto specialty). Negative: I found the heating system made the room too hot in winter, and there was no way to cool down the room as we couldn't open the windows. It did affect my sleep. I think this wouldn't be an issue outside winter when there is airconditioning. Overall it was a very good stay.

The ANA Crowne Plaza Kumamoto is easy to reach from the JR Shinkansen station. Just hope onto the complimentary shuttle provided by the hotel. It's a dark blue van with a Kumamom bear print on its side. I had a room facing the river, hence had the evening sun. The room is decently sized, large enough to fully open a 95L suitcase unlike some other hotels in Japan. Beds are comfortable and toilets are well stocked with the necessary amenities. Breakfast was included in my room rate. The buffet breakfast was really good with a nice spread of Japanese selections and the usual western selections. I especially love the udon noodles and curry rice. Fresh fruits of the season (lychee and pesimmons) were also on offer. The hotel is also very close to the tram station of Gionbashi on line A (about a 200 to 300m walk) which will get you to the Kumamoto castle, downtown and Suizenji park. Any disadvantages then, you may ask, there is only one English Channel on TV which is CNN and I didn't find a nice food place with an English menu around the hotel, so one night I had to dine in the hotel restaurant which didn't disappoint though. Overall, an extremely pleasant stay in Kumamoto.

Very nice hotel located close to railway station and city center. The tramway stop is near the hotel which is very convenient to visit the city. The hotel is modern and confortable. We had huge rooms on top of the building overlooking the river which were clear, confortable and feel like home. The staff was welcoming and friendly. We had breakfast there. It was well-stocked and hearty. Crowne Plaza Kumamoto was an excellent stop during our trip. Definitely, it is an excellent option to stay in Kumamoto

The room is quite modern and comfort. They have also provided various types of pillow, including side pillow! Air con and other facilities are working well but the light is quite dim. I prefer to open the curtain. Water pressure is strong. Breakfast, mostly japanese style, is pretty good. Only local TV and Video On Demand are available. Several electric outlets are available.

Me and my husband stayed here twice when we visited my in-laws in Kumamoto. I liked that it had enough parking slots beside the hotel, and I do appreciate that they have a fixed parking price for guests since parking can be quite expensive in Japan. Our room was nice and spacious, compared to the typical hotel rooms in Japan. Our window was facing the river, and it gave us a nice view of the bridge and the river. Staying in the room is relaxing and comfortable. I particularly like the relaxation amenities that come with the hotel (eye mask, aromatherapy etc). We had brunch at Suncielo, and I liked the ambience of the restaurant. There was enough food choices, and even an ice cream section as well. We also stayed at Felice for drinks one evening, and it was a relaxing place to just lounge after a long day traveling. Me and my husband like staying here, and we will definitely stay here again when we return to Kumamoto.
