We booked this hotel nearly a year ago after reading the reviews on TripAdvisor with pros and cons. Have been aware that it's only a 3 star hotel so I won't expect the all-clear impression but this was the only a few limited hotel choices left in Krabi over Christmas. We booked for a Duplex for a family of 4 (2 adults with 2 teenagers). In the online booking there was no option to choose for pool view or city view. The hotel took the money off my bank account not long after we booked which was still early of the year. We we arriived in December they provided us the room near the lift with city/pub view which was dark and damp. When I asked to change the receptionist said with a stern voice that I didn't mention about pool view and should states since booking. That's not even an option when I booked and it was my first time staying at this hotel so I had no idea. Anyway, we stayed at the room provided for a night and we requested to move to other room when available as we book for 7 nights. Luckily one corner room was available the next day but you have to really push it yourself to get that. The WiFi was free but it was terrible. Signal was dropping all the time when we stayed. It's as if the hotel bought a WiFi package from the company which they didn't provide a professional network. We had to searched for the hotel network and swapped between their inside network in order to get a strong signal. By the way, their WiFi connect instruction was poorly and not correct. Overall, the design of the hotel was nice but rather rustic not quite neat and finished with good quality. The room was clean. The daybed the hotel made to make another bedroom downstairs was quite hard. Might be a bit of a problem if you have senior family members but for my teens they were not fussy. The shower room was nice but the water wasn't strong enough. Breakfast was nice with variety of choices both Asian and European food. The bacon or any pork products they would be served separately from the main food section which is understandable in Muslim area of Thailand. The pool was nice but we never use it as we went out to the long tail boat trips and the beaches most days. Iron and ironing board can be provided when requested from the housekeeping. All in all it was good for a 3-star hotel in Krabi.
We were 8 persons who spent 6 nights here i 3 pool access room and 1 room with pool view. Its not the best hotel in Krabi but clean, with a good location and most of all a friendly staff. With 3 smokers in the group it was a problem that this was an absolutly smoke free hotel (we didn’t know that when we booked) meaning you cant even have a smoke on your balcony or at the poolside or poolbar.
Stayed here for 3 nights with my husband and 2 teenage daughters. well, where should I start... I paid quite an expensive rate for 3 nights for a 2 beds club room, hence I expected more. If the price that I paid is cheaper, maybe I can just close my eyes for some of the things. Cons :- - as much of the reviews stated, the hotel definitely worn out and need some extra upgrading work. The table, wardrobe, other furnitures and even the toilet sit have peeling all over them. Stains are just everywhere. - the bed is on the hard side - they only provide 1 key per room which makes it a bit difficult for 4 of us. - when the housekeeping came, they did not refill our shower gel and when we called for them to refill, the shower gel dispenser can;t be used (dont know why and just couldn't bother to call housekeeping again) - asked for an extra blanket in the morning (got an "ok" answer for the request), but did not get it until we called again before 10pm. - housekeeping came to makeup the room very late. around 3pm everyday. - for me, breakfast spread are quite good. a lot of option to choose from, unfortunately they just taste ok. but love the juices range and also the infused water. love this to the bits, oh and also the cheese! - they advertised that guest can rent a bicycle as complimentary for free. so my husband and i decided to take it. went to the lobby, asked for 2 bicycle, waited for almost 1 hour (or maybe more as I lost track of the time as I was even fall asleep while waiting). thankfully the staff kept saying sorry and smile. when the bicycle came, the bicycle were too high for me and it is super uncomfortable for me to use, thus only my husband took the bicycle. practically waited for 1 hour for nothing. - I can actually tolerate all the above, but 2 things that will really make me rethink whether I should stay at the hotel again or not are the water pressure and the wifi, The water pressure are super irritating as it is really poor. few seconds super slow, few seconds it is strong but only for few seconds. hence the water turn cold to warm to hot every few seconds. this make your shower time doubled and not really convenient for 4 persons sharing 1 bathroom. - the wifi in the room sucks big time. so if u are someone who needs internet all the time, do not stay at this hotel. Pro: - staffs are friendly - layout of the hotel is quite nice with nice, airy and big stairs area which make me prefer to take stairs more than elevator eventhough my room is at the 4th floor. - love the eco concept. will i come again? yes, maybe, but only if I get a good price deal for it.
We usually opt for an apartment when we travel but this time we decided to stay at the Red Ginger and we enjoyed our stay. Our room was very comfortable and well maintained. Breakfast was delicious with lots of variety. There is a nice pool at the resort with plenty of pool lounges to use. This would be a great resort to take your children to. The staff were all very helpful.
I travel around Asia every 3 months and have stayed in various hotels. Unfortunately I booked this hotel with voyage prive as a short stay before heading to another hotel. This hotel is no longer chic it is very dated, worn and in need of a renovation. The food is horrendous very basic and not too a good standard. The breakfast is limited and not very appetizing. Plus doesn't have enough capacity for the guests staying at the hotel. It is no longer boutique or chic it is faded, worn out and in need of a renovation and deep clean. The bedding is unclean and the actual bed is broken and mattress rock hard. The half board option is non existent unless you want the limited set Thai meal option that you have to choose before 5pm and only get a water. I would avoid eating the food anyway as you can get tastier street food locally. The hotel staff speak very limited English and are unable to understand basic requests. The fitness centre is appaling the worst standard of equipment and actual size I have experienced in any of my 20+ trips to Thailand. In fact would say it hasn't been cleaned for some time. The only positive of the hotel is it's location to the beach and local attractions. I would avoid this hotel as so many other options in the local area. Do not believe the website photos these are a misrepresentation of this resort!!
I visited three hotels in Thailand. After a horrible experience in Bangkok I looked forward coming back Ao Nang to this hotel. Perfect value for the price, staff is very very nice, both rooms and pool is clean and well kept, well organized. Would definitely come back! Thank you for the hospitality! :)
Great place to stay in Ao Nang. You are close to two beaches by walking 5 Minutes. The Breakfast is awesome and the staff very friendly and helpfull. Plenty of Restaurants around if you wish to eat out. I also liked the Design of the Hotel a lot.
Great resort close ten minutes wall to ao nang beach. Close to lots of restaurants and 3 minutes walk to long tail boat that takes you to railay beach (100thb per person). Nice clean pool, friendly helpful staff and a great buffet. Clean and green focus as well which was a nice touch. They gave us a free mattress for our 3 year old and made sure we had adjoining rooms. Highly recommend.
Visited with the family and booked 2 rooms, on check in we were immediately offered a free upgrade as we had booked through Expedia, this was to a room on the top floor, we didn’t take it as preferred 2 rooms but a nice touch of the hotel. The rooms are big, clean and spacious and good for the price. The swimming pool is awesome as is the swim up bar. The service is great and the location pretty good about a 10 minute walk from the center of Ao Nang. The only downsides with the hotel is the internet service which caused me no end of issues across 3 devices, cuts out and doesn’t work sometimes. The other problem we had is that there is only one room key which if there is 2 of you staying was inconvenient. Overall for the cost and location it’s a good hotel.
We planned to stay at the Red Ginger for 6 nights, but could only stay 3. My Girlfriend was diagnosed with dengue fever so we had to spend some time in the hospital. The hotel itself was very helpful, they refunded us for the time while we stayed in the hotel and the manager even showed up at the hospital with a huge gift basket. The nights we had in the hotel were good, pool is nice and has a good temperature. Location is also quite ok. All in all would stay here again.
