Stayed Apr 2017 for a week, couple + 1.5 years infant. The place is grate. I have been reading some of the unflattering reviews here and frankly I don't know what they are talking about ! The place is a resort, which expands over some area up hill. So like with everything in life you have tradeoff between fabulous panoramic view uphill and more of pool and garden view closer to the beach. We stayed uphill but later moved down because it was somewhat hard with + 1.5 years boy. For those staying uphill they have a fluently running shuttle service, you just fail 0 to the reception before leaving the room and usually the cart will just wait for you. As with every 5-star hotel paid order meals are more expensive than in average restaurant in town, especially in Thailand. But you can opt to eat in the town if you wish and many of the residence do. The inc. breakfast is reach and diverse and the ozone pool is really pleasant with much less and almost no sensible chlorine. And the last thing, I have forgotten a USB stick in the TV and the stuff was very attentive in finding it and shipping to me.
Decided to stay here and the location is good for the hotel. We had to wait 2hrs before we were able to check-in, so we grabbed lunch by the pool. They picked us up at the airport and was about a 2hr drive to the hotel. The room had a lot of bugs in it mostly flies and a big wasp which we had to take care of! If they took 2 hrs to get our room, what hell did they do! We notified the front desk of it and said they would spray it, however there was no spray done as we still had 1-2 flies which we took care of ourselves. The breakfast was really good at the hotel with a buffet layout. We also were able to rent scooters from the hotel for about $250tbh/day it was easy and highly suggest doing! We didn't try dinner on premises as we ventured out. Lunch was a bit pricey as is the case at most resorts. Infinity pool was nice, as was the pool on the top of the property which was vacant when we went. Overall the hotel was okay, the hospitality wasn't that great, and killing bugs when we enter the room is not something you should have to deal with. For this I would give them 3.5 starts. I've been to better places and would suggest they clean their rooms properly. Look into other places of staying.
When we checked in, the less than bright dude that checked us in tried to seat us in the sun to complete our check in process. It completely got him off his script when we moved and sat in the shade. We gave him our passports, entry documents, and credit card. He walked off to the computer with all of this stuff and returned with our room keys. We had reserved two rooms. I was traveling with my brother and sister in law, and he had wrongly assumed that my sister in law and I would share a room, instead of she staying with her husband. So when we informed him of his mistake, he had to spend another 5 minutes fixing it. He took us up to our rooms, and instead of giving my brother and SIL a different room, he had just switched it so that they had to sleep in a room with two tiny double beds. They didn't figure this out until we were already up there. We ate all of our meals on the property, and while the food was Ok, the service was inconsistent. Some of the servers would be attentive and at the top of their game, while others would forget that we were even there. We had a running joke of whether we were being served by the "A" team or the "B" team that night. I had much better food at other places in Thailand, but overall it wasn't bad. The beach outside the resort was gorgeous and peaceful. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and clean. The wifi was just as atrocious as everyone says it is. If you need a digital detox, the Rawi Warin will help you with that. If I went back to Koh Lanta I don't know that I would stay at the Rawr Warin again, but I wouldn't avoid it either if that was my only choice.
Things that wow'd me: 1. The expanse of the property, and the dexterity of the cart drivers transporting residents to their rooms 2. Maintenance of the wild plantation in and around property, lotus filled lakes. They have a mini water fall near the entrance that leads to a stream that ends into a lake with a bridge. How cool is that? 3. The plethora of activities - my family enjoyed playing Foosball immensely. 4. Fitness center is decent. I would rate it 6/10. They have an Olympic bar, but no weights for that. But then they have a Muay Thai ring and boxing bag, if anyone wants to do more than just pose. 4. The 4 swimming pools where I didn't have to wear swimming goggles 5. Sumptuous breakfast - great variety. Just fabulous 6. Amazing rooms with an astounding view of the sea. Each room is separated from the other such that we get our privacy. Rooms were adequate in size. 7. Beach access, and walking accessibility to roadside food shacks and mini marts. 8. Wonderful staff with a high standard of hospitality. They upgraded my room on request to a sea view one. What could have been better: I only had a grouse that their Ozone pool could have lifeguards, and provisions for life jackets. Such a beautiful concept pool was isolated and abandoned. I still tried it, but would have been safer with a life jacket. All in all, I had a wonderful time, so much so that I could easily occupy a day or two just within the property.
Being friends for more than 20 years, this was our 1st big group holiday with family and kids. Our planning was exhausting to co ordinate about 10 families 😅. That being said coming to the resort..... Travelling from India to this place was also exhausting mainly the timing of the flights from india. The resort is well done and for me one of the good ones I have been ( ocean view). We stayed there for New Years 2017, the resort was completely booked I may add. All rooms can be reached by buggy and would be a small trek if u wish to walk it ! Rooms are good size and very well kept. Food was decent I wouldn't say good because.... they serve very authentic Thai cuisine and though they have other cuisines u end up craving for good food! By the end of the 2nd day we had no better options for food🙄. Coming to the main reason why I'm writing this review- Hospitality 👏👏👏👏 Language being a barrier we still managed to make them understand what we are ordering and quantity 😀. It's an effort wether india or from anywhere else. Wether it was service near the pool or the room service or the restaurant area. The service staff are very attentive and hard working and efficient. Mainly on 31st Dec night thought the GALA DINNER was a total ripoff we took our party to one off my friends room and on that busy day and late night the food and drinks were brought to our room by the time we settled in and started the private party.
The resort is beautiful, all pools are beautiful and the gardens surrounding are stunning and well kept. I was especially impressed by the hillside pool. I recommend people to check it out later in the day. It's very shaded by then and it's beautiful. The room was extremely comfortable. Particularly impressed with the variation of toiletries provided (razor, sewing kit, nail file, detergent, shampoo AND conditioner!) and the room has slippers and robes! Good amount of TV channels and a lovely view from our balcony. The staff were amazing! Nothing was too much trouble. We lost our personal towel off the balcony and the staff collected it for us! Every member of staff said hello to us and made us feel very welcomed. The reception staff booked us our 4 island trip, taxis and restaurant reservations. Our room was 725 which was at the top of the resort. It took 5 mins to walk down to the resort and there were golf buggies available to drive us back up. A lovely gesture. Food! Breakfast is amazing. I guarantee they'll be something there for everyone. Food and drinks for lunch are more expensive than the rest of Thailand. Thoroughly enjoyed our trip and hope we can come back again in the future.
This is a wonderful resort and we had an amazing 5 nights here. Please ignore any negative reviews as we can't recommend this place enough. We stayed in a villa with a private pool which made it even more special as we had our own space with the benefits of the resort. Here is why this place was amazing - lovely villa, great beds, mini bar was always full, cleaned daily, perfect pool! - perfect location, next to klong nin beach which is full of bars and restaurants. - the breakfast was unbelievably good co much choice, not too busy, fresh quality food - the staff were super friendly, helpful and made our stay one to remember! Thanks guys!!! - the resort facilities were brilliant; two big pools, small but great gym, great sea jetty No negatives. This place was brilliant!!!!
I was worried when I read the reviews - not enough sun beds and lots of steps / walking Well they have sorted both issues and it's a good hotel on a nice beach - good food - nice staff - well placed to see attractions -
We have been staying at Rawi Warin for the last 7 days and are leaving tomorrow to head home . Our trip to Thailand was based on visiting an island away from major commercial and touristy spots. We decided on Koh Lanta and found an awesome deal for a Villa sea view room. The whole property is well looked after and it has a very serene, peaceful, and beautifully kept gardens with a series of ponds, waterfalls, and fountains. The property is large like any resort but the amount of staff ratio to guests you can be assured you are looked after from every aspect and experience if staying here. Our villa was clean, spacious, private and decorated in typical Thai tradition with all the western amenities needed to feel comfy.... The team in reception welcomed us upon arrival and are bright, cheery, most welcoming and always willing to help with anything we needed. We had breakfast included in our booking and were really pleased with the food selection and attentive staff who looked after us. We also had a few evening meals in the restaurant here which was really nice. Our experience of the team here at Rawi Warin from "Front of house, Food and Beverage, and Back of house to be most friendly, welcoming, and attentive to all your needs. Excellent service to say the least. 2 names I would like to mention though being so helpful above and beyond the call of duty was "Maudi " . If i could name everyone here i would so thank you to all staff at Rawi Warin !! We will definitely recommend you ! This place is really great for couples, friends, solo's and families. You don't feel out of place at all which is great ..
On arrival at the port you'll be pestered by the taxi cabs to get to the hotel which is about 15 minutes away - along a straight road. Don't pay more than 200 baht (combined for 2 people) The hotel grounds are absolutely lovely with a pond and waterfall. The ozone cleaned infinity main pool is a good feature, as is the beach front and view. Lots of reviews talk about the lack of sun beds at the resort - we didn't have a problem with this, there were plenty of beds available throughout the day.... The main let down for us was the initial room we were allocated with separate beds despite them knowing we were a married couple wanting a single bed. There was also a very musky smell in the room. When we complained they simply offered to spray a scent into the room rather than offer a clean one as the single bed room wasn't available until the next day, which we happily took and was a big improvement. Lovely view and a huge bed which made up for day one. The air conditioning in the room was basically all or nothing. It is either on (very loud and can get cold) or off. Both my husband and I took it in turns to get out if bed multiple times during the night to turn it on and off as we couldn't regulate the temperature. This was the same in the first room also. There isn't much to do in the area unless you book excursions, so if you like doing pretty much nothing, this is the place for you. The staff are super attentive and friendly. We were very well looked after by the hostess Rai who was exceptional throughout our stay. Breakfast was ok, good selection of foods. Food in main restaurant was lovely but expensive for Thailand. All in all we would stay here again, especially if they sorted the thermostat out so we could have a cool steady temperature. The staff certainly made our stay memorable. Those that are interested in hiring a bike or booking tours/transfers Lanta Ma-Dena tour opposite the resort has the most friendly staff and give great rates. They also have the cheapest fuel along the strip. Definitely worth helping out the locals.
