I stayed here for 5 nights! It was a steal as it was very low season. Cant imagine how this place will look during the high season! Kids will love this place as there are chicken ducks, cats and humming birds flying around... loads of butterflies too! During the low tide,so much to see.Sad for the dead corals. Everyone does their bit to save the ocean by picking up the mess left by the locals and tourists. You need to rent a bike or a car to get ur way around. It has so much to offer. Oh yes! Dont forget to visit the animal rescue, make sure you make time to least check out the lovely dogs and cats.. try not to cry.
Upon arriving we realized that during low season not much is available. The restaurant, bar, massages, and travel desk were all closed. The beach was very cluttered with rubbish -- it looked nothing like the advertising photos! Still a pleasant stay and the reception ladies were very accommodating in booking a boat tour. Lovely and QUIET.
I had booked this on booking.com and got nervous after reading all the reviews here but wanted to report that our experience was not as negative as the reviews here. My sister and I stayed here for 4 nights and found that it was a good value. The bungalows are pretty similar to most other beach side accommodations. It was clean, the AC worked (although noisy), and we felt well taken care of. The staff was very friendly and helped us with booking tours or transport. We enjoyed the restaurant/bar- friendly staff and good food. For $130 for 4 nights we felt that it was pretty on par with what you'd expect. Only two things I'd reconsider was the location- Long Beach has a lot more going on with more restaurants- but it's certainly easy to get around. Also doubt that it is Thai owned/run but not sure how many places are.
Receptionist is a real cow , arrogant and totally rude. The resort is old and dated , bathrooms are awful. Staff are more interested about their phones than looking after you. Food is bad and it took 2 hours to get our lunch. The owner will bombard you with emails and trying to sell you some tours at a very expensive price of course. We left a day earlier !!
We stayed there one night as it was our first night in Ko Lanta and were glad we did. Place is old, run down and very expensive. We arrived at night to find some kind of loud DJ music playing full blast. The rooms are all cramped up against each other which makes it feel like you're living on top of one another. Look of the place has no charm, it look like an old holiday village from the 70's that what never done up. We could be in Morocco, Greece, Tunisia, any cheap similar looking resort, nothing indicates we're in Thailand. When the DJ is not playing, a band plays old American classics as if we've traveled halfway across the world to hear older stuff from were we come from. Rooms are run down and feel old. The second day we got a scooter and found much better and nicer hotels around for much cheaper price. Bad deal. Customer service is horrible.
This place is worth your money. Tidy bungalows (build almost european by standarts) compared to bamboo shacks. Restaurant is fine, but come with time because the waitering is slow. Beach is fine although waterlevel is quite low from 5pm to 11am. Everything could be organiced by hotel staff.
The room was quite calm as our bungalow was not next to the street. Air condition was noisy and the staff's scooters passed by our bungalow and woke us up before seven AM. The room was nice and tidy, but the bathroom wasn't nice at all. And I guess all the mosquitos got into the room via the bathroom. The location was good just next to the beach. The beach was rocky during the low tide but very nice to swim and snorkel other times. The staff didn't speak English at the reception nor the restaurant. They were not very anxious to serve either, so we certainly didn't feel us very welcome.
Overall we enjoyed our stay here..rooms have a fridge,tv & aircon....well cleaned and staff helpfull...if you need your coffee/tea bring a kettle or you can get hot water from the reception area between 7am and 9.30 pm...a good base for restaurants and beach.
Staff is friendly but no one goes out of their way to greet you or even ask if you need something. I end up getting my own refills from coffee since it's hard to get someone to ask for another. My breakfast the first day was completely cold by the time they brought it to the table. Our upgraded deluxe room ended up being by the road with a squeaky air conditioner. Rooms where clean thought. Water from shower is hot but water pressure is no existent and toilet doesn't have enough umph to flush everything! For what we saw very short distances away for less I can't recommend this hotel. The beach at low tide is mostly rock. I.e. You can't swim. Go towards the south of the island for prettier beaches, a more laid back vibe, and closer to waterfalls, caves, and secluded coves.
Paid £175 per night for 10 nights in a two bedroom bungalow. Everything about this place was awful. Bedrooms were ok, but the bathrooms were disgusting. The staff were clearly as demotivated by the place as we were. There was a girl called Ray who served us breakfast who never smiled once the whole time we were there. The bar was like Thai drugs den. The bar staff had tattoos and body piercings all over their faces. It really was a very intimidating place when their friends turned up to play music one night. They were all smoking dope and looked completely uninterested in customers. I really would avoid this place like the plague. Even though we had prepaid for 10 nights, we left 4 days early
