Visited Kumarakom Lake resort in the month of May 17 as a family and had booked two rooms for a night. The property is beautiful and located right on the bank of the lake and offers a spectacular view. The villas and room are beautiful and nice and large and clean. We had booked two Luxury Pavillion rooms and the hotel provided us with two adjacent rooms which worked quite well for us. The rooms are large and spacious and have a small verndah / seating area. The furniture is wooden furniture with large beds and has a local touch in the design. The walls are adorned with paintings that give a lovely feel and character to the room. The shower are is also quite large and has a jacuzzi - the consumables are also good quality and gives a plush experience overall. The resort organizes a lovely evening snack in an open area and the fare is quite local and definitely shouldnt be missed. With lovely breeze from the back waters you could be sitting by the lake side and enjoying banana fritters and local rice based snack alongwith filter coffee / tea. This clearly is a great hit with the guests and shouldnt be missed. There are couple of dinning options in the property - we opted to go to Ettukettu, the muticusiene restaurant. The hotel offers an option inclusive of meals and the meals are at Ettukettu and hence the restaurant was crowded as most of the guest end up here. The food is great and the buffet has a good spead but most of the options are the regular and common options - would recommend the ala carte if you want to try the better of the local cusiene. The service is quite slow and the restaurant could do well working on it. While this is a great property, it does fall short on some softer aspects that are a must in a five star. The checkin time mentioned was 2 pm and as we were coming from the Taj Kumarakom property, which is just about 500 mts away, we were there at 2 pm .. the rooms were still not ready and we got our first room at 2.45 and by the second room was handed over, it was 3.40 pm - the staff took a lot of time cleaning and changing the jaxuzzi water and that caused the delay. Most of the good hotels are quite liberal about the mineral water supply in the room, the resort did have a limited free supply and was particular and spelt it out categorically while handing over the room ... a simple bottle tag could have done the trick and the resort could have avoided spelling it out. The check out time is 12 noon and the resort staff starts following up from 11.00 onwards to check on the check out plan of the guests (incase you have not check out till then). Since we had an evening flight, we requested for a late checkout which the resort couldnt provide citing that they would have to get the rooms ready for the next set of guests - and the previous day when we checked in, the resort couldnt manage giving us our rooms as per the 2 pm check in time .... The property is a great property with a great locational - the infra is great to make it a perfect getaway. It could do a much better adding a little warmth by interacting with the guests and giving it a personal touch which is currently missing. A small improvement on the finer aspects of hospitality could make it a five star preposition which currently it may be falling a short on.
sorry for late posted, we visited this hotel May-2011. we stayed for 2 nights. Its wonderful property, we stayed in villa its beutifull room its look like old heritage room front desk staff is having little attitude. house keeping staff is very good.
It's been long since I posted my last review but after experiencing opulence at Kumarakom Lake Resort I am not able to resist myself to be all set to write a detailed review of the property. I had stayed at the resort with my family at Heritage Villa with lake view for 2 nights on 6 th June ,2017 and houseboat for 1 night . The moment we entered the resort we were in awe as we witnessed the beautiful landscape and we were sure we would experience the proximity with nature for our length of stay . Having booked the Heritage Villa with private pool gave us the privacy to the fullest and attached open bathroom was to make sure we enjoy the beauty of Mother Nature at all times . I must add in spite of the fact that we visited the resort in monsoon and the villa had open bathroom but we did not experienced any type of bugs in our room just to prove how maintained the property is with round the clock housekeeping with proper care given to pest control . I also thank Front office manager Mr Teji Jose who availed us best possible villa on our special request which to my view had the picturesque view of Vembanand lake from my room . The Complimentary sunset cruise for all guests and experiencing the high tea in the evening during monsoon was to make sure we enjoy the nature with relaxation of our mind . I also express my gratitude to Ms Priya , Ms Saritha who always welcomed us with smiling face and made sure we have luxurious and relaxing stay at the resort . I also thank Chef Deepak of Resort restaurant and chef Pradeep on the houseboat who made sure we get cent percent satisfaction with the immense choice of multi cuisines served during buffets and our special requests were well attended to . My personal suggestion to all those who would be planning to visit the best Kumarakom Lake Resort not to miss the opportunity to experience their houseboat for night stay . The difference between the resort houseboat and the other houseboat is the plush designing of rooms , dining area , kitchen and the explicit menu of all the meals that were prepared in the houseboat and was surprised to have the variety of fruits served inside the houseboat for as many times as we wished that would give stiff competition to many 5 star hotels on land . The way houseboat chef took care of our culinary needs made sure we were treated like Royal family and at the same time he made sure our privacy is well respected .My review of the property will not be justified if I do not extend my gratitude to Mr Ravi( I hope I remembered his name correctly) who is multi tasking man as he makes sure each n every guest enjoys fishing and is always ready to give assisstance that a guest may need . He also has special ability to photograph you at best possible angles and make your visit memorable. Also the lady who gave my wife special lessons of Matt weaving even though we could not understand each other's language but her motherly warmth should be complimented. We felt honoured as Resort manager, front office manager Mr Teji, Ms Priya , Ms Saritha who escorted us to Resort cab on the day of our check out.
The rooms and food were awfully expensive. The food was not worth mentioning and there was lack of consistency. The same sambar was horrible the next day, probably the same one. The rooms have a narrow, and heavy double door and high threshold. This was unsafe for my grand mom who had a hip replacement. The bathroom door has a door closer would slap against my heel, each time I walked in and out. The wifi is charged heavily, not free! The entertainment was hardly visible to all dinner guests. In jthe spa, they charge you like crazy for the massage, AND steam is additionally charged! The meandering pool is a good concept but if you are honeymooning, there isn't much privacy. The views of the sunset are nice, the cruise was good. There was a really nice staffer who helps with the fishing and also takes great photos for you. The activities for kids were limited. The astrologer was really good too.
Awesome place for enjoying the backwaters. Meandring villas are perfect for family with kids. Food is good. Evening tea and pakoras d best. Dont need to get out of the property. Evening sunset cruise is just awesome.
Would like to there again and again. Hospitality at its finest and best. Staff superbly trained and courteous. Rooms very well designed and equipped. Spa experience was good. Can't be better in terms of anything.
Wonderful food and staff. No complaints can be given. All the stuff was very good. Would always like to go there again. Beautiful lake. The amazing complimentary tea and coffee. Very good receptionists, guest relations and the restaurant staff. Had a pleasant stay.
This property could nothing be less than a heaven on earth. It was an absolute blissful experience that we had and one of the most wonderful leisure holidays to be exact. Everything about this place is marvellous, say the scenic view, the rooms, and everything else. The staff were utmost courteous and very polite. Food was the best, as to we relished true authentic Kerala cuisine. And last but not the least we had been on a rejuvenation package, the ayurvedic massages were ideal under the supervision of really good and helpful doctors. Overall it was an unsurpassable trip that we had. Looking forward to yet another one very soon.
We went there last week at the beginning of monsoon....perhaps one of the finest resort we had stayed...the property is so beautiful that we are regretting why we booked only for a night and should have stayed for another couple of nights. The stay at Kumarakom Lake Resort itself is an experience...you will feel the ultimate luxury of seeing the backwaters from your beautifully decorated heritage villa...the best part was there infinity pool... and also the private swimming pool/jacuzzi to the villa...the food was good and specially the warm welcome of the staffs...i will miss the boat ride which was arranged by them...it was simply great...we will definitely come back to visit this 25 Acre of beauty...and this time for more than one night...thanks for such memorable stay...
I stayed here with my family including my 3 month old grand daughter. All of us had an amazing time. Beautiful surroundings , artistically done up resort. Peace and calm everywhere followed by excellent helpful courteous staff. A must visit resort
