The Grand Renai4.5 out of 5.0

The hotel is listed as 5 star but to be honest is more like an average 4 star hotel that is due some modernisation. The staff are friendly the rooms are clean, food is generally good, room service is good. No alcohol at all not even a beer due to KB being a strict islamic state. I dont think you will find anything better in KB so this is your best choice.
I stayed here for 2 nights. Since this was a business trip I didnt have time to search around for local food. This hotel provided me comfortable stay and excellent local delicacies (nasi dagang) for breakfast. Not many hotels gave such treats. I even had nasi dagang again for dinner. I dont mind since I had to skipped lunch when working & their nasi dagang was so good. Bravo....
I had an experience whereby I saw water coming onto the room I hope this will never happen again there rest of other facilities is ok not much to say or compliment staff is ok for is better have outside of the hotel cause more choice and cheaper
Stayed here for 1 night, for a transit to another town. During the check in, the staff keep on promoting to become marriot club member. Took quite some time. Its quite irritaring as we are in hurry. Went back to the hotel at night, and feeling the temperature is warm. Adjusted the aircond to max setting with the lowest temperature, still i am sleeping with sweat. Buffet breakfast, not many choice. The location wise is quite good.
One of earlier hotels in kota bharu. Probably was good many many years ago but increasingly becoming irrelevant. Average hotel rooms. Food standard just average. Nothing praiseworthy. Often conferences are held here. Disappointingly parking tickets cannot be validated for participants of major conferences and required to pay full amount. Coffee at lobby overpriced. Slow service for the amount charged and disappointing beverage for the money paid. Went there twice for major conference. Food catered could be better. Not even fresh milk given together with coffee and tea other than just dry packet creamer. Perhaps adjacent Perdana Hotel.may soon replace Renaissance. For the expensive charges for an alleged 5star hotel or used to be at least, definitely not recommended.
Had 2 nights stay in renaissance.as the purpose of the visit to kb was business and not leisure so was not expecting much..my expectation was lowered as i had read reviews of hotels in kb Advantages 1.fast and smooth checkin I must say that the hotel personnel were really helpful and accomodating to the customers.they were there to greet u once u arrived at the main door, making u feel welcomed. Special note of thanks to the staff that really went out of their way to accomodate their customers.i am a breastfeeding mom with ebm stash and they are kind enough to keep them fr me as the fridge inside the room was not cold enough I must say that the customer service was superb 2.big room 3.multiple channel to choose from Disadvantages 1.cleanliness I had to say that this hotel really need to improve on its cleanliness.we went into the toilet on the 6th and the lobby and was dissapointed.both were so dirty that i had to postpone my urge and waited till i went to airport Unacceptable in a 4star?establishment Cockroach in the room We ordered room service to avoid the hassle of going out.maybe the smell of the food attracted the unwanted visitor.it was not the big long cockroach but a smallish one.still it leave a bad impression Musty smell in the room I am not sure what they should do about it.maybe a better ventilation system?at first once i step into the room, the musty smell was a bit overwhelming. Breakfast Breakfast was okay.not what i expected fr a 4 star hotel.they should buckle up on the egg station.people queing up fr quite some time just fr eggs Frankly i would want to try other hotel if i were to stay in kb.choice is limited though so on second thought maybe this place is the best around town.. Carrying the brand of marriot, renaissance should improve itself
Staff is extremely kind and helpful. A/C was great and the beds were cozy. We had breakfast included (buffet) and it was great. All in all it was an amazing stay! The pastries at breakfast were freshly baked, especially the croissants were good. I am a Gold member of the hotel's privilege club so I always get special treatments and upgraded to Club level suite. Definitely my favourite place to stay.
Yaaa, bit old hotel but I highly recommended, it would be a great place to stay in either you coming for leisure or business. However the cleanliness very disappointed with the toilet bowl too yellowish
Firstly, this is a decent hotel because you won’t have much choice elsewhere in this State .. It’s quite central & although it is next to a mall, please be warned that it’s not “a real mall” more like a shopping arcade. Stay was ok. Rooms are large but the only issue we had was the air-conditioning .. would have preferred it to be a tad cooler.
I must admit that I was unimpressed by this hotel, although it should be the best in town (and probably is from the little I could see of Kota Bharu). When we arrived and managed to find the entrance of the hotel's parking, we discovered that the hotel lift only reaches down to the first underground floor, which was clearly full. That meant that we have to carry our four large and, especially, heavy suitcases (we were on a 4 weeks round trip of Malaysia) up one floor on the stairs. We are healthy and in good shape, so that was not a big deal, but it was not a terribly nice first impression. The lobby area is grand and the personnel at the reception very friendly. They took good care of us and as a Marriott Rewards member I had free WiFi access (it should be free, though). The two interconnecting rooms were large but in need of renovation and very dark due to the heavily tinted windows. A few things (one floor mat in one room and one towel in the other) were missing but we did not make a fuss because we were staying only one night. There is a swimming pool, but it's honestly quite a sad affair, cold and with a view on a large and derelict apartment building. Breakfast was ok, not what you would expect in a five star hotel (like more or less everything else, apart from the lobby) but acceptable. Our table was not very clean, though. All in all, I wouldn't go back to this hotel unless I really had to.
