This is our second time here. My husband's parents have Marriott points and treated us to a family vacation. Location is fabulous - love being able to see the turtles and Monk seals from the beach! Decent snorkeling at the beach too. Hotel is a mile or so from a shopping center with excellent restaurants (highly recommend Merriman's for lunch). Service has been top notch - bar drinks are tasty. Only suggestion would be to improve menu at restaurant. Enjoy the daily activities. A really lovely experience. We will come back.

Big waves, monk seals, turtles, sunshine, sand - what a fantastic location. Loved our stay - we wanted to stay forever. Wonderful people - keeping everything going smoothly and unintrusively. Special mention to Celeste whose warmth made us feel so welcome and whose excellence made our stay just perfect. Definitely Paradise.

The hotel rooms are the worst rooms on the property. Our view was literally of the dirty laundry next door. The AC leaked all night, dripping and soaking the carpet. The peeling paint and damaged trip made clear it was a common occurence. There was no where else to put us, so they brought in an industrial fan to dry it. The staff were friendly and the grounds are beautiful, so the Vacation Club portion may be great option, but we would recommend avoiding the HOTEL rooms. There are far better options on Kauai.

So I wanted to love the place for two reasons. 1 my best friend is a Marriott Vacation Club member and 2 it was free as their guests. I also wanted to join if it was exceptional. It was good, ok for families but my wife and I are more adult only luxury hotel people, who get to a resort and never leave, wanting a spa, bar open all hours and 5 star dining etc, etc. so this place missed the mark for us as it has none of that. But families would love this place. The staff were great and the rooms nice. We actually spent a lot of time at the Grand Hyatt down the road😉

Nice 2 bedroom suite . Spacious with a full kitchen. Staff is very helpful and accommodating. Good parking. Right on the beach. Lots of pools and spas including a quiet pool area. Make sure you understand how to find the elevator and paths to your room.

Not cheap but right on Poipu beach. . .very large, two-bedroom villas with full kitchens, two baths, large dining areas. Check out happy hour at the bar (or just bring your own beverage down, particularly for sunset).

We are MVC members and were disappointed with the parking lot view when we checked in. We were able to move to another room which offered a slice of Ocean View over the interior swimming pools. We also had to check out and back with all our gear stored for the better part of the day and also did not have it in our room when we checked in (despite being told it would be there). The resort is tucked in along a small beach with a not very appealing swimming area (lots of exposed lava). All that said we were in paradise; had many plans that took us away from the resort and no one we interacted with was anything less than friendly. The kitchen was large and efficient. We also appreciated that unlike our previous MVC stays there were not a bunch of expectations on us to "pre-clean" the room. The front desk's response - "We got it. Don't worry about any of that, you are on vacation" So the big complaint that is legitimate is the view and positioning of the units vis-à-vis the Ocean view versus the cost you may have to pay.

We just love this place. It has everything. The rooms are very large, we kept up, and extremely clean. The resort is beautiful. Our first day there we always just walk the grounds and take a million pictures. The location right on Poipu can't be beat. We love everything about this place. We stayed 11 days and I wish we could have stayed longer.

The best thing about the Waiohai is it’s location. Our family has enjoyed coming here for many years and this year we noticed the service has improved tremendously. Ty and the welcome desk were especially service oriented and thoughtful. We rent chairs and an umbrella from Kimos across the street and hang out at the beautiful Poipu beach that’s safe to swim in. We saw Monk seals on the sand and swimming in the water, whales breaching that you could see from the shore, turtles in the water and on the beach and you can also watch surfers all day. There are several nice pools and two hot tubs. Lots of activities for kids like ping pong, crafts, or digging in the sand. Plenty of restaurants of all price levels nearby. And a nice bar on the beach to get food, smoothies or lava flows! We had a gorgeous view of the pool and beach from our ocean view room. Highly recommend this resort.

We stayed 10 days, and were exhausted each and every night. There is great snorkeling in front of the hotel, surfing a short walk away, and great eats a short hop away. I swam each morning a mile to the east, then back again and encountered turtles and dolphins each morning too! Seals rested on the beach every day and gave us incredible shows.
