The location on Bose Road is excellent with restaurants, some malls and transportation. It's quite an old establishment but kept adequately well-maintained. The staff are professional and attentive. The rooms are comfortable with enough chairs and a writing table with good lighting. A midsized lobby. A few more chairs would have been convenient. An excellent value for money hotel.
I remamber to have stayed here at 1982. Then again last month, after 35 years !! The hotel then was a star amongst Kolkata hotels. The ambience was superb. But now it looks and feels like a hotel with hordes of people, always clogging up the reception area. It seems mostly now it caters to wedding or mass function activities. The reception staffs were good .But there is no adequate place to seat or wait for some body. The room was and bath room was o.k. The breakfast was lousy, not enough choices , nor of good quality. The over bridge, which has recently came up in front of the hotel, kills the old majestic look . Overall, a grand dame hotel fail on quality.
I have stayed at the HHI numerous times over the last few years and have always had a great experience. The staff are very friendly and are always happy to help. Bernard could not be more helpful in the function rooms, he’s always on hand to answer any questions or take care of any questions and likes to chat to the guests! The rooms are very clean and comfortable, the buffet lunch is superb and the bar is nice and cosy. If staying in The City of Joy for a short trip or an extended stay I would definitely recommend the HHI.
HHI is an old style building in the heart of kolkata city. I have been here twice and my overall experience has being quiet good. The rooms are good and clean. Staff is polite. I would recommend their resturant offering good variety of cruisines.
My experience is limited to my day-long visit here for a conference. The experience is overall satisfactory. Staffs are co-operative and conference place was also clean and good. The auditorium is also good for events.
We found this hotel to be of a goos standard. Staff were very attentive especially Bernard Gomes who looked after us so well in the function rooms each evening, a fantastic gentleman. We will return. Thank you.
I recently stayed there during my visit to kolkata for official work. It is situated in a very prime location in exide more. Victoria, Birla Planetarium, Maidan and Rabindra Sadan, Nandan and metro station is just 5 min walk. The hotel rooms are not that good. the crack and uneven surface in the walls are clearly visible. Iron is not there in room which you can find in any 3 star and above hotel room now a days. There is a mini bar or refrigerator but it was empty. The bath room was very good. It has 2 restaurant Kalash and Myth. Kalash ambiance is awesome and it is basically for indian cuisine. I had dinner in myth but its good but not that good. Swimming pool is there but there was no water. Staffs are well behaved except few. overall its good for the location other wise my experience was not that good.Though I heard a lot of good thing about it from my freinds
I am Hhi Elite member since last 3 years , however visited the property for the first time, booked the room at loyalty desk almost a month back with a specific Room requirement as follows 1) King Size bed as 2 Adults would be staying. 2) City View Room. While Check in We found a cut size Queens bed with space not Enough to accommodate 2 kids forget about adults, It had a pathetic view with (demolition of old building was going on) , Shocked to see both the requests not fulfilled contacted the loyalty desk lady who promised that as thr is some exhibition going on , she could not get us a good room & asked us to manage for a day & change it next day. We had booked for 4 nights , however when for consecutive 3 nights we were given only apologies , we decided to leave the hotel, Expressed our displeasure when asked by the bell boy about our stay while check out , he called some Sr. Named sandeep , whom we explained about our nightmare stay , bed bugs & rundown rooms. He heard it patiently and offered apology🤔.
Very nice hotel with a lot of shops and restaurants around it. Very friendly and helpful staff, especially Sourav. The room was very clean and had a good view of the hustle and bustle outside. The breakfast was really good and on the morning we were leaving we had a very early flight but the management bent over backwards to make sure we had breakfast before our drive to the airport.
Visit this hotel quite frequently. Well located, has good rooms, decent dining facilities. Though am a bit surprised at the rates offered by hotel website / travel sites which seem higher than other comparable properties. I manage to get a decent rate through a local agent. The rooms are decent and common facilities and restaurant also nice. However, its time they went in for a renovation. The pool is covered from Oct to March and used for wedding parties. In certain days, when they have conventions / parties commencing in the morning, the breakfast area is a mess. The Indian restaurant (live ghazal in the evening) is always empty and so is the pub and underground disc. Limited parking. Though they have a Salsa evening on Wednesday, which adds some vibe.
