My partner and I and another couple stayed here for four nights on our trip around Thailand and loved every minute of it. The buffet breakfast is delicious, views are magnificent and staff are very friendly. The rooms are also beautiful. I recommend hiring a scooter from the hotel and riding around to take in all the amazing views of Ko Samui. Would stay again!
My husband and I stayed in August of 2015. They picked us up from the airport and upon check in had some fruit drinks ready for us. Not sure what the flavor is but it was SO good I came back the next day and asked for another one( its free). The flavor of the drink changes everyday but thats okay because they are all very refreshing. Yes this hotel is located on top of the hill but its not hard to get to. We rented a motorbike and it had no problems getting to the top of the hill. BUT i will say if you are elderly you should ask for a room that is not at the very top of the hotel because those rooms are on a very steep hill and you will be out of breath walking to them ( I was 5 months pregnant and had to take frequent breaks to get to my room). If you ask the front desk they will have a golf cart drive you up to your room so this isn't a big deal. The view, it is amazing. Our ocean view room had a balcony with a jacuzzi on it. The inside of the room was very appealing and the bathroom was gorgeous. The only issue I had was our shower there was some type of floor board that if you step on it it rises up and I slammed my toe pretty hard from not realizing this. Its not the hotels fault really because I never even brought it up because it wasn't a big deal I just had to remind myself not to step on it. THE POOL: its an infinity pool very spacious and it has some time of like sitting bar inside. the view from the pool is amazing as well and i will attach some pictures. The food is good I didn't eat to much because I was sick. I also saw some families here and noticed they had a family room that had toys and things for the kids to be entertained. So this is a good hotel for all kinds of people .
ko samui is one of those places where you want to live your life... such a beauty it is.. people in ko samui are helpful and very warm.. coming to this property i got very good deal on expedia and when we entered this hotel i simply loved the reception area. room was pool view and rooms were big enough that you can dance and roam around.. you can see beach from the top.. room service was really good.. hotel staff is nice.. :) food quality is great and what else you want.. i can come here and stay here as i like it so much.. lush green place and its on the top.. cheers to Mantra..!!
This hotel was not easy to find but we got there in the end....it's right at the top and you'll need a pretty good car to get up there, even to get to our room they drive you in a buggy to get up there. We were welcomed with a hot towel and juice. Our room had a jacuzzi outside on the balcony and 2 sun beds. The room itself was nice And spacious, but the bathroom was a bit small and decor was a little dark, but still very clean. The infinity pool was amazing and they have 24 hour room service. At the bottom of the hill is a string of shops, and restaurants but you're better off hiring a car or you'll be spending quite a bit on taxi. The breakfast selection was good also. Overall a good stay.
My favorite thing about this hotel was their gym, modern, clean, has all necessary mashing. And the best part - working out with a stunning view! 😍 Big breakfast buffet, which is a plus, but!.. Everything quite unhealthy. On the other side they offer free yoga classes. It was a bit too advanced for us, so we ended up going only once. Premises are very nice, good pool, nice bar. But never get drunk in this hotel, the hills are so steep that it's hard to walk even when you are sober. They offer a buggy to take you to your room if you are patient enough to wait. The beach is very far. It looks close on a map, but it will take at least 30 mins to walk there and it's not a nice walk especially in the heat. To walk back to the hotel be prepared to experience the hardest workout of your life. The hotel offers free shuttle buses to Chaweng and Bophut, better take them and spend some time among people and typical atmosphere of a touristy Thai village. Chaweng is a super busy place, with everything you might need, malls, bars, restaurants, loooots of people, McDonalds, KFC, Thai boxing, lady-boys, fire shows, etc. Bophut/Fisherman's village on the other hand is quieter, less crowded, more modern, but has less to offer. Both beaches are nice. There are a lot of other even nicer beaches on the island but you'll have to take taxis to get there. However, taxis on this island are super expensive. Just to get from the main road up to the hotel, which is about 5 min drive, will cost you at least 200 baht. To go to a beach 300-500 baht.
First of all, - we love Mantra. It has been our ”home away from home” for 5 visits (each for 2,5 weeks), since 2012 - and we have made friends for life here. Mantras employees are their main asset. Our Mantra family. They are smiling, kind, fun, friendly and very caring. Since the first visit in 2012 we have felt so welcome and genuinly cared for. We´ve been having most of our meals at the hotel and have steadily gained weight each time as the food has been so good ! (Thanks girls for the napkin surprises !). Not to mention the fantastic cocktails at the bar. Fantastic service all the way from A to Z. From om the reception angels, transport crew, housekeeping and especially the F&B staff. None mentioned, none forgotten. That´s why we´ve been coming back year after year ! We have also recommend the hotel to everyone that wants to hear about this great place. Planning our next stay at Mantra has been one of greatest joys. All we can think to say about Koh Samui, Mantra and it´s wonderful staff is already said in our 4 previous reviews. As I´m writing this, our favourite hotel in Koh Samui is closed for renovations. It was needed as nothing much was done with regard to maintenance between our 4th visit in January/February 2015 and our 5th visit in January/February 2016. (obviously because they were planning a total refurbish/maintentance anyway.) At the same time as we were very happy to see our dear Mantra family again, - we were sad to see the state of the common areas (mainly around the pool) and our room. That said, we were excited to hear about their renovation- and upgrade plans. We were also given a sneak peak of one for the refurbished rooms. It will not be anything like the Mantra we knew, but it will be very nice, and it ill be good to se the hotel get the TLC - it – and the staff – deserves. We were looking forward to our 6th visit and 3 week stay in January/February 2017, but unfortunately our travel budget and Mantras new rates after the refurbish are miles apart. We will not be able to return in 2017, - but if they keep on their wonderful staff we will still recommend Mantra to new visitors. We will be in Samui as usual in 2017, but have made other arrangements this time. We will see our dear friends Khun Tor, Khun Oh, Khun On again – and we also hope to see Khun Boy, Khun Kob, Khun A, Khun Earn and the rest of my Moms (she´s 83) ”children” still working there. We will visit he restaurant for dinner and check out the new place if we may. We wish our Mantra family - the new management and all the wonderful staff all the best of luck for the new place and hope to see you all again in the future. Please take good care of the tree we planted some years back. All the best Elisabeth & Mom
My mother & me hopped on the hotel shuttle at airport, only to be informed later we had to pay for the ride as I did not book directly with the hotel. Eggs are great for breakfast - many styles of cooking to choose from! Inconvenient location atop a hill accessible only by a single service road compensated by breathtaking views of Koh Samui north coast beaches & town area. Make sure you catch sea breeze & sunset / sunrise at the lovely pool deck area. Our room atop flights of stairs not suitable for elderlies. Make sure to check hotel transport timetable your only means.
Wonderful views of Bo Phut beach and surrounding mountains from this hotel. Stayed here for 18 nights in July 2015. Food and service was okay but the accomodation was clean and the pool lovely. The resort is on a very steep hill so probably not the best resort to stay at if you have mobility issues. The resort provides a shuttle service to Bo Phut and Chaweng very frequently. Highly recommend the night markets on a Friday night at Bo Phut.
As part of our trip to Thailand, we wanted to take as much in as possible. Now in our thirties, our back-backing days are way behind us and our hotel needs are much higher than they were a decade ago. Instead of visiting the more popular island of Phuket, we opted for Koh Samui and Koh Tao after a five day visit to Bangkok. Our first two nights were spent here at the Mantra Samui Resort. Situated in the hills overlooking the ocean seemed like the perfect place to relax after the mad dash around Thailand's capital. We were picked up from the airport (this must be organised beforehand and at an additional cost) and driven to the resort; it was better than we had hoped for. There are a selection of rooms to choose from and we opted for the "wow ocean view" room, which really did live up to its name. Right at the top of the building, our view from the balcony was simply stunning. The room was large and well equipped with a big, comfortable bed and beautiful bathroom. It even had a small kitchen with sink and fridge. The infinity pool is what really sold this hotel. Warm water (heated by the sun) overlooking the sea and with a bar we could swim up to and order cocktails. The food at breakfast in the restaurant was excellent and with all areas of the hotel, had stunning views of the surrounding area. We even woke up early to sit on our balcony and watch the sun rise over the mountains. Koh Samui itself is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. It's not too crowded, has incredible restaurants and beaches and has enough to entertain people of all ages. We were worried that being in a hotel not located on the beach would be a problem, but actually, it was perfect and we plan on returning to this hotel on our next visit to Thailand. The price we paid for both nights here at this five star hotel would only get you one night at a three star hotel in London.
amazing hotel, great service, wonderful views from room nice gym with more better view and ofcourse can not forget the pool beside the restaurant we would definately come back there if we once visit samui again shuttle goes from hotel to bophut beach and chaweng beach almost every hour from 11 am until 9 or 10 pm best of the best of the best ))) (considering price and quality)
