No phone to contact the reception at the apartments. The sauna in my room didn't work at all, they didn't even come to check it although I asked twice. I asked for some refund and they refused. Nobody helped me with taking the suitcase from the reception to my far(!) room no. 1509(walking in snow) and back . Disappointed. Not coming back.
This is a typical northern hotel. The people are very friendly, the rooms functional and clean. The morning buffet is really very extensive and the evening buffets were amazing - especially the deserts. Definitively a good place for cross country or alpin skiers in Levi.
We spent 6 nights in a superior self catering apartment as a family of two adults and two teenagers, and one night in the hotel. THE APARTMENTS Basic furnishings but nothing to fault and we didn’t come to hang about inside anyway. Electric bob, microwave and dishwasher all put to good use, washing machine is in the ski locker area - supermarket 1 minute away - has everything you could want and more. Plenty of hot water, drying cuphard and sauna - we were never cold. SKIING First day we took the bus round to Southpoint, fantastically easy to do and a great place to start. We had heard how expensive it was to store skis at ZERO point ( which it is) but found trying to walk back to hotel in ski boots was dangerous as very slippery crossing roads, so our solution was to rent two boot lockers which are big enough to fit two pairs in and then we bought a little sledge and towed the skis back and forth and used the sledge for fun. HOTEL FOOD We only ate breakfast there and everyone had plenty to eat, fruit, porridge’s, breads etc etc . ACTIVITIES We took the group ski lessons with Crystal and as it was half term it took a bit of a long time to get going on first session and the groups were not very well sorted, but we had a great instructor and everyone kept turning up so everyone must have been quite happy. Two of us did the blue group and two did the red - the latter went down the black World Cup run and half pipes. PONY TREKING We booked direct via the UK, and it was great except we could only get in to the beginners session - this really is suitable for anyone, and we had a great morning, but they only have so many horses, so if its something you want to do and ride a bit more than just walk, book early and def before you go if its a peak holiday week! SNOWMOBILE SCHOOL This was good value in the length of time you were able to drive the machines, but the learner circuit is pretty small......... HUSKY MUSHING We booked direct again and we did it on our final afternoon, which was actually a great way to finish the week - so many people we know have those tricky falls in the last few hours as they are tired but feel they should carry on - we finished at lunch, went to the huskies and got back around 4.30 and everyone was happy to just return the skis and do some sledging. EATING OUT Do think about the places that you like the look of and think about booking - it does get busy, we had two great nights at COLORADO, we went to the snow village and had diner there and the food exceeded our expectations, really good, but do wrap up warmly! We went to the fondue place, and have no complaints about the food or service but the price for a cheese fondue starter was nearly £70 for four......bread and cheese, uhmmm. The meat fondue is cooked in a broth not oil, and the pudding fondue was very small - there are other choices of food, but even for Finland this was a costly evening. Our final night was in the hotel rooms, two twins and they were very comfortable. There were lots we never got to do, we had a glorious week, our fourth visit to this amazing country, albeit the first to LEVI and we have never once been dissapointed
I wasn’t expecting too much from the hotel based on the price however I was pleasantly surprised all round. While not luxury the hotels rooms are good quality and cosy. Having a sauna and clothes dryer in the room was a great touch and it was a very comfortable stay. The cleaning staff did a fantastic job and I highly enjoyed the breakfast. The hotel is directly between the S Market and (superior) K Market (about 2 mins walk to each) and only 5 minutes walk to the main slope. There is also good bus access to South Point so the location cannot be faulted. Thanks for a great experience
Brilliant from start to finish hotel lovely activities great very cold but everything provided to keep warm really friendly people and great ski slops everyone is very helpful and there is loads of snow
Good hotel, staff are friendly and helpful. Tea and coffee in room. Didn't know the breakfast were free as had to pay for this via Crystal ski holidays. Bit of a walk to the slopes but ok. Rented a heated locker at zero point. This is not a 4 star hotel but a good 3 star hotel. Breakfast is the same each day but warm and filling. Good for both vegetarians and meat eaters. All the juices are very watered down, so basically coloured water. The machines get turned off between meal times which is a pity. Diner is goid quality better for meat eaters but vegetarians are catered for but not as extensively. Putting meat in a salad does mean that vegetarians do suffer. As per many hotels the food is samey and there could be a better variety. Packed lunches are available on request if you can't make diner time. Once hot food is put out it stays out. Staff check to see if it needs topping up but at no point in the week did I see staff check the temperature of the hot food that was out. Obviously under food, health and hygiene this should be done. Avoid the pork belly which appears a lot on the menu as it's just pure melted fat. The fish is stinky, smalls a little off so maybe avoid that to. Even though it was meant to be different fish each time it all was cooked in the same smothering sauce as smelt a bit off. Hotel is clean and rooms are warm. We were upgraded into a larger ground floor twin with a sauna. Very nice to have a sauna. You have to remind staff to change your towels and they are no too good at sweeping the wooden bedroom floors. Shower gel and hand gel were already in our wet room which was nice. To be a 4 star hotel the quality just needs to be better and some leisure facilities like a communal hot tub or maybe a small swimming pool. If you book this hotel through a tour company remember that breakfast is free so if your tour company say it's not they are fibbing. For half board make sure it's lunch and diner. Would I come back to this hotel. Yes if I was on excursions. No if it was just for skiing. But overall a 3 star hotel.
Great hotel situated in the middle of Levi. Great acess to shop etc and ski slopes are 5 min walk away. Nice rooms with sauna and drying cabinet. Foods not bad either, good selection at breakfast. I would definitely return to this hotel
We stayed in the levi star apartments and they were ok for 2 adults and 1small child like us.with basic cooking facilities microwave and hob (no oven),fridge, and dining area.not really enough room for 4 adults.rooms were warm when it was -27outside!.only complaints were noisy neighbours(thin walls?) and the beds which were very narrow with poor quality mattresses.the breakfast in the main hotel was excellent with plenty choice, and was kept well stocked,it got very busy,so best to go when it opens at 7am if you want a peaceful breakfast!.
Lovely hotel with friendly helpful staff. Food was fine with a choice at each meal. Free tea, coffee, water and juice available all day Would stay here again without a doubt. Rooms were clean and comfortable
We are a family of 4 - with 2x47 year olds, an 8 year old and a 76 year old. We stayed at the Sirkantahti which is located really close to the Levi Village and the piste for skiing. We originally booked an Annexe Duplex Studio with Sauna but changed to 2 twin rooms as our Dad had difficulty with the outside steps accessing the studio. The studios were a distance from the main Reception, and the distance was also a problem for Dad. The Studio looked bigger in the pictures and are small and compact. The Hotel was really helpful when we explained our problem. The twin rooms (405 & 407) were really nice and clean. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom had a shower and a sauna, which was brilliant after a cold day out. The main Reception area was cozy with an open fire and this is where all the meals are. We had half board - breakfast and dinner. The breakfast was good with eggs (scrambled and boiled) bacon, sausages, beans plus porridge and other continental items. Tea and coffee, water, orange juice, milk and berry juice. The dinners were varied each night, hot and delicious. We were there over Christmas and it was not busy or lacking of food at all. We were surprised that soft drink was not included in the meal, but really enjoyed the water, berry juice, tea and coffee that were included. It was actually a nice change! We traveled with Tui and were impressed with how organised our visit to Santa and the taster sessions was. The additional clothing required due to the cold was all provided - Snowsuit, boots, over socks, gloves, scarf and hat. We just wore our normal clothes in layers underneath and did not have any problems with the -19 temperature. One tip is to make sure the shoes you wear on the flight to Lapland have good tread. Mine didn't and I have some brilliant coloured bruises after slipping over on the icy road twice. Once you have the propper snow boots on, walking is much better. We did not do any of the extra Tui trips, but did go Ice Karting (Go karts on ice) which was heaps of fun. We booked through Polar Star Travel who is based in the Levi village. They pick you up and drop you back as part of the service. Brilliant fun. There are a number of different restaurants in the village. We had Burger King and pizza for lunch. Lapland was on my bucket list and our trip was everything and more. Definitely a must do experience.
