The location is great; right next to Kiruna's town centre so handy for shops and restaurants (such as there are in this small town). The hotel is somewhat dated, and I think it hasn't been refurbished as this part of town will be demolished to accommodate the expansion of the mine. It's OK for a stopover, though, and the breakfast is fine.
This was a last-minute booking. I chose this hotel over the one I usually stay at when in Kiruna due to it's convenience to the center of town and the bus station. The front desk staff and the waitstaff in the on-site restaurant were extremely helpful and pleasant. The room was very clean and I loved that the windows could be opened. I was on the 5th floor and had a very cool view of the iron mine and Kiruna center. The buffet breakfast was excellent -- lots of options and a separate section devoted to people with various allergies (like a separate toaster for those who keep gluten-free, etc.). This is probably the largest hotel in Kiruna, but it's a bit dated and if I were a picky traveler, I would've probably complained about the fact that the floor under the bathroom door was held down with packing tape. But I am pretty low-maintenance and am happy with a clean and comfortable bed and it was just for one night. At one time, this hotel was probably the shining star of Kiruna -- it has a nightclub on site (that didn't appear to be open while I was there), a steakhouse (Momma's), as well as another restaurant on the second floor that seemed to be popular with the locals. Perhaps during the height of the winter tourist season, this hotel has more personality.
Easy to park att the hotel, the staff were helpful especially the lady att breakfast, Helena! She went around doing here work singing, always happy to help. A jewel! Nice rooms with a view to kill for. We tried the sauna, it was ok. It was a nice trip to be able to see the old Kiruna before they start moving it!
The not so good things: The hotel is dated. The lamp besides the bed did not work and the bottle of shower gel was empty. I had a rather expensive hamburger in "Mommas" which was one of the driest I have ever tasted. The better things: Location was good and the staff really, really nice!
The room was a bit hot and there were no airconditioning. Otherwise-perfect👌Had a little meal in the pub since the restaurant were closed, it was very good, the breakfast had something for everyone. All in all I would recomend a stay at Scandic Ferrum Kiruna.
Nice classic hotel. Very professional and service-minded staff. The room was ok, car parking straight outside the entrance. Breakfast was good. The steakhouse was a hage plus. Great location in the center of town.
Very well located, very nice staff and a great breakfast buffet. Clean and size wise OK rooms. However taking in to consideration the somewhat worn furniturings and lack of safety deposit boxes I think it is overpriced (1150SEK/Night)
Beds were hard and uncomfortable. There were no aircondition in the room. There were guests with dogs passing our room, even though we specified that we wanted an allergifriendly room. We searched the hotel for a playarea for the kids when we arrived but found nothing. The room was oldfashioned, and not up to date eather in interior or considering usb chargers or electricitypoints.
If you have stayed at a few Scandic Hotels you know what you get. Clean rooms and a great breakfast. This hotel is probably 50 years old even if it's well kept it's getting old. Staff is friendly and helpful which improves the experience.
This is a friendly hotel in a place at the end of the World. It met all my expectations, and with the additional great hospitality and friendliness provided by the staff - everything went very smoothly. Good sauna, too :-)
