Little bit strange in the first place....but for us is a quite enough for our vacation....a beautiful lake...Bali one of the best place in ondonesia for travelers and also for vacation. From the cottage we can see a beatifull lake, batur mountain.... thanks to MR.Putu as a host
We went here from Ubud to do the Mount Batur tour. Our driver already told us that the Kintamani region is ruled by a kind of Mafia that rips off tourists. There were several guys on scooters following our taxi asking where we are going, so that the driver had to make clear that we already booked and that they should leave us alone. The little village is original and very remote. There is one restaurant and you're kind of stuck. But it was actually a good experience to see the real Bali. We paid 400 000 Rupiah for our double room and it was clearly overprised compared to other beautiful places we stayed and paid the half. The bathroom was very old and shabby, no toilet paper and the room was simple. The view over the lake with the sorrounding mountains was stunning though. For the Mt Batur sundrise tour we paid 300 000 Rupiah per person. Later another driver told us the guides (or rather big boss) pays 300 000 for 4 persons... Please be aware that the hike is not as easy as they write everywhere. I wouldnt go up there with children and it is a very exhausting and kind of dangerous walk, especially at night time. But the sunrise is worth it! :-)
Putu and his family are my true lifesavers. Together with a friend I had a motorbike accident on the steep road down to lake Batur. I was hurt really badly, could not get up and had a lot of pain in my back. Putu drove behind us with his car and immediately picked me off the street, drove me to the dokter and later to his house. He and his family done everything to help me and care for. He emphasized constantly that I should not worry about anything and in the meantime I was taken care of in his residence. His wife and the whole family helpt me whit everything. when you feel so vulnerable and frightened and people are so loving and caring for you, you wish these people a all the best, because they are truely good people. I will never forget them! beyond my personal story must be said that they have beautiful large rooms, with huge comfortable beds ( I of all people with a really sore back can tell) and the location is breathtaking. Also the food was prepared with lots of love . I would recommend everyone this beautiful place! Putu and family, I will never forget and I'm so thankful that its hard to express in words! Lots of love from me to You all!
Stayed in Baruna as the first pit-stop of our Bali Tour. AMAZING view of batur lake and the surroundings. Crazy breeze and fun breakfast at the gazebo overlooking the Batur Lake were the takeaways. The owner was relaxed and friendly, often asking us if anything was amiss. Highly recommend this hotel for a stay. If you are a nature person, chuck kuta, nusa dua and everthing else. This place has truckloads to offer for an adventurer!!!
The little village is very quiet but if you fancy hiking mount Batur and taking a dip at the hot springs then this is a perfect location. The room was really cute, its called a bungalow but it's a little glass walled house, the room is massive as is the bathroom. The staff are really lovely and helpful. Had a great stay and lovely food as well as stunning views of the lake and volcano. Highly recommend staying here.
Do not book this hotel. Online booking does not guarantee a room, as they double book rooms and will try to scam you by taking you to a shittier room elsewhere worth less than half the price, pocketing the difference. Beware of shady men on motorbykes that follow you to the hotel, attempting to intimidate you to secure a dodgy deal.
The bed is big and seems comfortable, but it's very hard falling asleep as it creeks loudly every time you move. But the worst part is that a machine in the lake starts exactly at 4am and stops at 7am. (Just in front of the bungalow) and it sounds as the engine of a big truck. Not even earplugs worked. At 7 the room is completely illuminated as courtains are very light, so the night passed by sleepless. The bungalows in front of the lake should not be rented at all. The hotel is located far away from anything, so you're almost forced to have dinner at their restaurant, which is dirty and full of flies. Good and cheap food though. The room is also plenty of flies, mosquitos and mini spiders. We left the place in the morning as early as we could.
I was the lucky one having the last cottage, the one next to the fence. The wind was blowing all the time, because the walls are not really walls ( see through walls) and there was nothing to stop it from the left side. Because there is a light on all the time in front of the room, all the flies and mosquitos were there and in the morning i was almost coved by dead insects ( i had to sleep with my head under the blanket) - they were everywhere!! Inside and outside. The water was barely running, so showering was difficult. There is a cook and the food was okish and cheaper, but i don't want to think about the kitchen. One of the people there (he said he is family and he was serving food there) wanted to take our shoes and give a dirty old jacket instead. Really strange and spooky. Overall, i hated it. But maybe i had bad luck, the ladies in the next room said they had no flies inside and that the water was running, they complained only about the cold. But the view is really nice.
My fiancee and I booked this room ahead of time via the Lonely Planet/Expedia reservation system. When we arrived the staff had no idea we were coming and seemed genuinely confused as to why we just 'showed up' at their cottages. On top of that, they charged us 600,000 rupiah for the lodge, which I later found out had already been paid for on my credit card. (I wanted to double-check this, but was unable to do so since there was no internet at Baruna Cottages) The double-payment was partly my fault, but you would expect a business to at least keep basic records. The room itself had not been cleaned for quite some time and had more spiders than we could possibly count. We also heard a rat in our room during the night and found rat-droppings all over my fiancee's clothes in the morning. To state the obvious - we won't be back.
We stayed here becuse we wanted a place near lake batur so that we can do a sunrise trekking in the morning. The photos in their website were great so we chose this place. Upon the arrival we found that we're the only guest in this hotel. The room was as seen in photos but without any basic amenity. I mean any basic things (towel, soap, toilet tissue!) nothing in the room. Only one girl who speaks little english is there for your service. I have to go into their kitchen to get hot water and found the whole place is cover with flies. And flies in the kitchen are really not okay. However the view is magnificent. The atmosphere and a view of mt batur has left us speechless. The same girl told us to do some fishing for our dinner with here and thats a good experience to be in the lake. However the dinner were inedible with flies of course we didnt want to be sick. You can stay here for a view only. Bring your own food and towel with you. But thats not what we paid for the price of 40usd a night. However, the surise trekking were magnificent and worth a life time experience.
