Hillview Lodge, Brancaster Staithe, Norfolk
Hillview Lodge is a stylish detached cottage in a secluded location in Brancaster Staithe, offering wonderful views from upstairs to the salt marshes and towards the sea.
The cottage is high standard and offers relaxing and stylish interiors and is suitable for both family and friends. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, one on each level, although one of the rooms is in the attic so has restricted access, hence we would recommend the property capacity of four is not exceeded. There is a fully enclosed courtyard terrace, ideal for families with young children and/or a dog.
The renowned White Horse pub and restaurant with its fabulous balcony and views over the marsh, is literally a stone's throw away and there are nearby shops and a cafe at the popular shopping area in Burnham Deepdale, where you'll also find the tourist information centre. Again, within walking distance, is the Jolly Sailor's pub/restaurant which is one of the best child-friendly pubs along the coast and serves delicious pizza's and food all day.
Brancaster beach is walkable from the property along the coast path and boardwalk, although it will take you around forty five minutes, however the walk is beautiful and well worth it. Otherwise hop in the car and you'll be on Brancaster beach in less than ten minutes. A perfect location for exploring the whole of the coast!
Additional Information: One well behaved dog welcome (small additional charge). All bedding provided is feather. Travel cot and high chair available on request. Please bring your own linen for the travel cot.
The cottage is heated and features a balcony and 2 bathrooms, and there's space to spread out with 2 bedrooms. Guests can enjoy a TV and stay connected with free WiFi. Other standard amenities include a fireplace, a microwave, and a dishwasher.

The house is gorgeous, very clean and lots of little details that make it feel like home. Loved the log burner on the cold October evenings.

Warm and cosy once you get inside!!
We enjoyed our stay at the cottage which had all we needed and was really warm and comfortable. A few words of caution though as to access. If you have any mobility issues it was tricky to get to the cottage entrance down an unlit narrow and unmarked shortish duck boarded route. Also, no off-road parking to be able even to unload luggage etc is not clear from the brochure or instructions and we found a bit irritating. We also had quite some difficulty in actually finding the cottage and access to it in the dark winter evening as there is no sign showing where it is or where to go. So, nice comfy place, but marred a bit by location/access issues for us which we did not expect for the price.

Nice cottage and location but
1. master bedroom bed way too small.
2. property picture does not represent true location with only on street parking
3. hard to get luggage etc. to the cottage from street down a very dark passage
4. apart from that it was great for location (no views though) and amenities

Great location
A really lovely cottage which has been decorated to a good standard in the heart of the village. Walking distance to two great pubs.
We would definitely recommend and stay again.

Beautiful cottage, with boutique hotel touches, but lacking a scenic view and accessibility
This cottage is absolutely beautiful. Touches in the bedroom such as glass water bottles and luxurious bedding make it feel like a boutique hotel. It was also a real treat to find a fresh loaf of bread and real milk in the fridge on our arrival. Cleanliness was of the highest quality. The two bathrooms are excellent and the kitchen is well appointed. Shame though that there is no view of the sea and a word of warming to anyone with reduced mobility. The cottage is accessed down a small, narrow, pebble lane. There are many narrow steps and no off road parking.

Excellent location for access to coast for walking and for a selection of great pubs
This is a rather 'cosy' cottage and comfortable for two but might be rather cramped if all the beds were used especially as there was not a lot of cutlery or crockery. It was very quiet as accessed along a narrow path away from the road with a nice space for eating outside. Parking was on the main road but there was never a problem in finding a space. The location is excellent for the coastal path, beach and a short walk to the White Horse pub which is highly recommended as well as a Nisa store and petrol station.

A Short break on the Wonderful North Norfolk Coast
Insrtuctions to find the property were good,as was access for the door keys
Property extremely tastefully furnished. It would comfortably take 3 and a push to house 4. not too sure about the attic accommodation
We had a slight problem with radiators ie in adequate instructions. Would suggest all the instructions should be held. in a loose leaf folder. The handyman came extremely promptly and explained the workings of the radiators
Would we use property again....we most certainly would!
The property is well situated between the 2 pubs in Brancaster and only minutes away from the spectacular coastal path.We are already looking to book a property in the village next year, despite the bitterly cold "Beast from the East, which paid us a visit!"

Comfortable warm and great location
Despite freezing temperatures and lots of snow we loved our stay. The house was toasty warm and well equipped. The location close to 2 excellent pubs/ hotel supermarket and fresh fish shop across the road was perfect as we didn’t need to get in the car all the time. The dog loved the walks as did we. We will be back

New Year break
We have enjoyed our weeks stay in this lovely cottage. The cottage was lovely and warm on our arrival from Wales and we appreciated the welcome hamper. The cottage was furnished with everything we needed and we were able to relax after long walks in front of the log burner. Nightly walks were enjoyed to The White Horse were we enjoyed good food especially fish dishes.

Great for a few days getaway
The property is cosy and perhaps more suited for 2 adults & 2 children. The cottage is a nightmare to find in the dark as the directions could include the property Is very close to the village hall & it's located down the side of a gallery (it says in the directions a blue shed, but in the dark that makes no difference)
We had a problem with the shower leaking on the Sunday morning & water coming into the kitchen & fusing the lights - we called the numbers and explained the problem & by the time we returned we presumed all was ok - it would have been better to have left a note/ call us on our mobile to say that it was all fixed.
Cottage was very well fitted out and the hamper was a lovely touch.
Parking is also road parking and whilst this was not a problem in November it may be during the summer months. Location is good and having the 2 pubs close by allows you have a holiday & not cook.
Cottage is dog friendly however having no garden is not ideal so for that reason we probably wouldn't return however I would recommend to friends and family.

Not suitable for people with impaired movement
Whilst a romantic hideaway for a couple this is not a place for anyone who struggles walking unaided or fit and healthy with bags to carry to be honest . The access to the cottage is positively dangerous. It is dark and along an unlit narrow unfixed make shift path made of slippery planks of wood and quite frankly a health and safety issue waiting to happen. Very creative use of camera angles and positioning of furniture makes the place look larger than it is which is rather misleading when compared to the reality of the situation.
Whilst initially welcoming and completely OTT underlying message from neighbours was very direct about where you can and cannot park on the main road (outside any house but theirs apparently) and ownership of the path and boundaries

We are lovers of Norfolk having been there many times. This area is amongst our favourites.
A small problem finding the house. Reference to the house Brentwood did not help as the house name was covered in ivy !
Would have appreciated more guidance on the T.V., Microwave, house keys other than the cooker there was no literature.
We had a storm which knocked out the T.V. and was pure luck that we got Sky working !!
Sham there was limited views of the marsh lands
Must add that Jade was a great help

Not great...
On arriving at Hillview lodge I went to make a cup of tea. Three out of the four mugs were stained and the cutlery was dirty so loaded the dishwasher as felt uncertain of general cleanliness of the pots.
My son went to go to bed and when he pulled back the quilt, the bed had sand in in, an insect (alive) oh, and body hair! ... luckily we weren't using all the beds so I stripped it to change, only to find protecter urine stained... through to the topper. Not great at 10.30 pm
There are no laundry facilities as info states.. plus the neighbour (lovely as she is) does not like you to park on the road by the property... so the next morning, as I was raising my concerns, asked if I'd kindly move my car to the tennis court parking down the road and pop a £1 in the honesty box each night...

A Wonderful Spot To Relax
We are regular visitors to North Norfolk and have stayed in properties all along the coast. Hillview Lodge was one of the best!
The location near to the marshes, pubs, Fish Shack etc. is excellent. The property is beautifully decorated and very well kitted out.
All in all we would thoroughly recommend it.

Saying there is a view from the second bedroom is very misleading
There is only a view if you look to one side from the end of one bed:in summer it will be hidden by trees and you cannot sit and look at it anyway.Downstairs is rather cramped and not really light and spacious. It is sold as a luxury place, but feels skimpy and just tarted up by admittedly good linen and comfy beds and pillows and a nice carpet upstairs and good tvs. So,it's ok but not quite the luxury pad it is described as.

A fantastic half term break at Hillview Lodge
We have spent many holidays in North Norfolk but our stay at Hillview Lodge was our favourite. The lodge was so comfortable and homely so after a day spent walking on the beach it was a lovely place to come back to and relax. We made use of the cosy log burner and my two teenage children were thrilled with the mobile signal and efficient wifi!!
The lodge was within easy walking distance of the village pubs and Deepdale store.
We would love to come back and stay again soon!
