Girls getaway

2 story home just minutes from the beach has everything you would need especially if you have children. The beach entrance had a shower for public use. Plenty of room upstairs and the porch with the swings was nice place to relax. Only down fall was the car wash next door can see you swingin. The yard had a 8ft solid fence to the back yard for privacy. Nice neighborhood to take a walk or bike. Harris Teeters across the street! I’d stay there again!

Another Excellent Stay

This place has it all for families. All the beach stuff you need and more. We always have a great stay and will definitely be back again. Quick walk to the beach and local restaurants. Short drive to tons of activities.

Third time was a charm!👍

This was a (now annual) sister vacation. This was our third year at Turtle Shell, and God willing, we’ll be back for more! We usually eat out most of the time, we don’t utilize all there is to offer, mainly the toaster oven and microwave.😂 this place is very well stocked for anything you could want. Convenient location, very clean and walking distance to the ocean. Highly recommend!👍

They tried to think of it all

They had everything including kids bikes and a push stroller/bike. They provided detailed information about the area. Even the cabinets were labeled to help you find things more easily. They tried hard to make sure you're comfortable. The only thing you need to keep in mind is there is no indoor access from the upper level to the garage/lower level. So you need to prepare to do laundry on a non rainy day or that the person that will sleep in the lower level is able to come up the outdoor steps alone, if they need to come up at night. Great, quiet location. One of the cleanest rentals we've visited.

Turtle Shell Cottage

We had a fantastic stay at the Turtle Shell Cottage! The house has so many amenities and tons of toys and games..perfect for our kids (8,6,4) who enjoyed the house as much as the beach. Great location close just a short walk to the beach and next to lots of restaurants, stores and right next to an ice cream shop! Great communication with the owners who are so friendly. We hope to come back!

We Loved the Turtle Shell Cottage

We could not have been happier with the cottage. My whole family loved the property and all the extra amenities that came with. This place literally has everything you need to come and stay. All you need is groceries to fill the fridge. The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful. I loved the bed linens and the towels were wonderful. I highly recommend this cottage for any kind of vacation stay. We will definitely be rebooking.

This rental is perfect if you have small children!

The hosts are very caring and attentive! It's a well kept, clean house. Linens are supplied. Everything you need in the kitchen. Toys, bikes, helmets, sand toys, boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrella, beach wagon all there for your use! Bring your self and a few outfits you can wash with washer and dryer! Second year in a row renter and am renting again. Between the highways and quiet street.

Excellent Family Friendly House

We had a wonderful week at the Turtle Shell Property with our family. We have 3 little ones and could not have picked a better property for this. The child proofing options around the house and kids toys/books and beach toys were so helpful to have access to! We also enjoyed the activity space in the garage for hanging out in between beach time. Everything was very clean and as described, and Terry and Russell are excellent at communicating throughout the stay! The walk to the beach with kiddos was very short and convenient, and so easy with the beach carts provided at the house. A few reviews mentioned the car wash next door, but with the privacy fence, we had zero issues with that. The location was great being across the street from the grocery store, and walking distance to an ice cream shop and grill on the same side of the road. We throughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this wholeheartedly for future vacations!

First Time to OBX

the best beach cottage

Our family had an amazing time at the Turtle Shell. The owners Russell & Terry were great to work with and could easily get in touch with them. The cottage had everything we needed, super clean and close to everything!! If we are ever in the area again we will definitely be staying here!!

Great Little Get-away!

This cottage was the most well appointed we’ve ever visited. It’s the perfect size for a small family group & the offering of beach chairs, bikes, bodyboards, etc was so nice and allowed us to pack so much less. They really thought of everything. The house was very clean and all mechanicals were in working order. The host was very nice & accessible at all times. Would very much recommend this cottage to anyone who values attention to detail. Turtle Shell sister vacay

We really like the closeness of grocery stores, just figured out the Wrightsville Blvd. shortcut! Like not having to get on the highway as much. Kitchen could use some updating, and porch and deck could use a little attention. Very much enjoyed ourselves, despite the winds from Lee, hurricane without rain!😂

Enjoyed our short stay at this beach home. Great location despite the car wash next door which could be a little noisy at times. The owner was very good at communicating when we had any questions or concerns. I would recommend this property for small families for a quick getaway.

Second time at the Turtle Shell

We love the Turtle Shell. The property is very conveniently located within walking distance of the Public Beach. It is also in a central location and easily accessible to stores and sight seeing locations. This is our second time staying there. We love it because we have to pack less. They literally thought of everything we could need. Bikes with locks, beach toys, beach wagon, chairs, umbrella, coolers, BBQ, etc. This time we visited the NC Aquarium and we went to see the Dolphins with Kitty Hawk Kites. It was an amazing time. Terry is very accessible via text messages and is super friendly and helpful. Thank you Terry & Russel

Another excellent visit

This is out third year at the Turtle house, and we absolutely loved it again. Very close to the beach and restaurants. It literally has anything you could want for the beach. We didn't need to bring anything for the kids. As always, it was very easy to get a hold of Terry for questions (she is the nicest person!). We will definitely be back for a 4th year.

Great cottage for a family

We loved our stay here! The owners provided all the amenities and accessories you needed for a stay at the beach! Lots of toys, bikes for kids and adults... helmets too! Very clean and nicely decorated. Just a short walk to the beach. Owners very safety conscious which was much appreciated. Will stay again ❤️

Great Stay

We had a great stay during our time in Kill Devil Hills! The house was clean and cool, which is important after a day at the beach. There was ample equipment in the kitchen for cooking asvwell as in the garage for beaching it all day. If anything, we were a little taken aback upon arrival by the carwash next door. I even Google mapped the home to see what was around it and the carwash did not show up on Google images. BUT I do want to say, the carwash didn't turn out to be a nuisance. In the end overall it was a wonderful stay.

Fabulous stay!

We loved the cottage. It was perfect for our family of 5. It was nice to have the downstairs space if one of us needed a break from the others. Close walk to beach or bike ride. The owners went above and beyond to make sure our stay was great. They were in constant communication for any questions or needs we had. The location was great and in a safe neighborhood. Highly recommend!!!
