Recently stayed in Kiev for 2 nights at the Tourist Hotel and this is a great European style hotel without the sting in your wallet. I can not say that housekeeping was the best but that also could have just been the person assigned to our room. The staff spoke English but things tend to go easier if you know the language.
We was there just for 6 hours before flying. Reception was nice. The girl at the reception very helpful and finish check-in very quick. Room was normal, but very old. All hotel need renovation. But for the price which I pay this hotel was very good.
Room was very very clean. I had a big apartmant with two bedrooms, 2 bathroms and one huge livingroom. Staff at this hotel was very nice to its guests. Reataurant right after the entrance had great food and very pleasant service personal
Thanks to Юлиа patience for my room change.😁 Service was good and people speak english. Littlebit far from centrum, but Metro experience will get extra adventure. Сбасибо Юлиа, Сбасибо Турист Гостиница.😊
We stayed for 4 nights here & I must say I was very pleasantly surprised! I didn't have high hopes... The receptionist spoke English & asked us if we preferred double or twin rooms. Firstly, in the lobby, there is a bar - they sell all kinds of drinks including coffee etc and snacks (cake, crisps etc), there is a money exchange service in the lobby which I used twice and on the third floor, there is a 'gentlemans club' which I did not visit 😂 There is also an Italian restaurant on the premises but I did not try that either. Our room was on the 13th floor & while it was a bit dated, we found the double bed comfortable & the room was very clean - the bathroom was old fashioned & could have done with a bit of a refurb, but again, it was clean - we had a pretty good view from our window too! It was a two minute walk to a metro station which we were able to navigate & it was only 4 stops into central Kiev (at the cost of 12p sterling!!). There were bus stops directly out front but we didn't use them as we couldn't work out where they went! I didn't like the breakfast there, although I did have a couple of boiled eggs... there were some strange (to us) options such as chicken in sauce & rice... Directly opposite there is a McDonalds & a Dominos Pizza, also a local restaurant which translates to 'Fat House' and we ate there several times & the food was excellent - there is an Irish pub almost next door too but we never tried it. There are security men in the hotel at all times & you have to show a pass to access the lifts to the rooms, this was not an issue & we even had them smiling at us in the end! I doubt I will return to Kiev, but if I should, I would definitely stay here again.
If you are visiting Kiev, and you are on a budget, you should stay at the Hotel Tourist. It's hard to imagine any better hotel in its price range. The desk staff speak English; there's a Metro station right downstairs; there are lots of stores and restaurants in the neighborhood; there are several supermarkets (one 24 hours, one gourmet, and one enormous); the internet mostly works. Value for money, the Hotel Tourist may be one of the best hotels in the world. There are some quirks, most of them dating from the Soviet era. The elevators cleverly are divided into even and odd floors, which would be great, except that the newer and older elevators are not on an integrated circuit so you have to call both to see which comes. By the way, if you see that "your" elevator (say, even) won't be coming for a while, take the other (odd) one flight higher, then walk down. The perfect Soviet solution! Of course there's a strip club attached, but it's not in your face and children won't notice. They'll just see the life-sized cut-out of the Wild West dancing girl and think it's funny. Another potential problem solved! I enjoyed my stay at the Tourist so much that I'm tempted to give it an "Excellent" rating, but I can't quite do this in good faith. My bed was quite old and basic. The shower lacked a soap tray (a $1 improvement). The furnishings were old and dingy. But "Very Good"? They've earned it. Within their ridiculously constrained budget, this is a very, very good hotel. Highly recommended.
Very good location near to metro .There are many shop around the hotel. The room was good.Very good prices. You can exchange money inside the hotel. There is a souvenir shop too.Everything was good i will book again in this hotel.
Stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is a concrete block but while not in the centre it is only 13 minutes travel time on the metro (Levoberezhnaja to Ploschad Nezavisimosti) to the main centre. The underground is ideally located 1 minute walk from the hotel, so you are in the centre of Kiev within 20 minutes, or less to get to the Arsenalnaja metro station for a 15 minute walk to the Pechersk Lavra. I went for a superior room as even this was a lot less than the city centre hotel prices that were available. The room was recently improved with new carpets, bed, bathroom and small flat screen TV, so in good condition and clean. The downside of the room was the bathroom which was very small, and had a shower where there was previously a bath. The room also had very good, fast, free Wifi. The worse thing about this hotel was the breakfast, very basic, no cereals, limited yoghurt, limited hot food and what was served was more like what we would have for an evening meal rather than breakfast. Unlike other reviews, we didnt find it a problem to go back to get more food or drink, and would often find different cakes had been brought out as they seemed to only bring out one type of sweet food, then when this was gone they brought out something different. Also, there was only 2 types of fruit juice, a red coloured one which tasted like a regular watered down fruit juice or a brown liquid which had a taste similar to drinking strong tobacco, rather strange. I also found the staff on reception helpful and spoke good english. Would recomend the superior room if looking for cheaper accommodation rather than the 4 star city centre hotels.
Good hotel, a bit out of city. But is close to metro station, and it has lots of places to eat, and a supermarket close to it, money exchange services etc. Friendly and helpful stuff. Probably next time I will ask for renovated room, even though mine was ok, but a bit old.
Booked 2 rooms at this hotel with a 6 am check in after a long flight . Confirmed prior to arrival that we would be arriving at 6 am assured ok for check in . Arrived at hotel and told can,t check in until 2 pm hotel policy after showing reception email confirming 6 am check in was told no rooms available or could have a room at extra cost .waited until 9 am for manager to start work when she did she offered a double room this was not acceptable to us as it meant we would be sharing a bed with my brother . She then offered twin room until 2 pm when our rooms would be available . During this time my mobile had gone flat asked if I could charge it and was refused . The site I booked this hotel thru has since refunded our booking and apologised
