Having just paid my bill for my stay of two nights, I was shocked to find that the rate I had been quoted when booking did not include VAT (so was underpriced by 20%). This was a very unpleasant surprise, which must be a common complaint from other guests; indeed, if I had known the real price of the room rate - there is no way I would have booked the hotel. It may be that there was a "**" printed next to the rate and a comment in the small print that the rate "may include extra taxes and fees" - but this is highly deceptive and not fair to customers. I understand that in some cases certain prices and costs need to be represented before VAT - but when ever does a guest not pay VAT - it must be at least 99% of cases that all guests pay VAT - so why hide this in a very vague comment about "possible taxes"? Why not be up-front with people and say, "VAT of 20% will be added to this rate unless you are VAT exempt" - surely this is a much fairer way of dealing with a paying customer? This unpleasant surprise has now lost Radisson a customer, not just a disgruntled one this week, but for life; and it is certain that my displeasure will be expressed to others and to all who ask - a satisfied customer will possibly tell one or two others of a good stay, a dissatisfied customer will tell at least ten or twenty..... I have no problem paying for what is due, this is not the fault of the reception staff or the hotel staff in general - but a failure of Radisson to be honest with genuine customers. Maybe it is a peculiarity of local laws and pricing, and legally nothing has been done wrong here, but from a moral viewpoint and being transparent and honest with customers, it is high on the scale of murkiness, and certainly not what would be expected from a supposed leading hotel chain. The hotel is otherwise fine, if not a little dull and empty (probably because it is too expensive - you can get a very decent serviced apartment or 3/4* alternative for less than €60-80 a night in Kiev - I was just charged over €240 per night......truly extortionate for what it is....and not worth it. Rooms are clean and it is fine as a hotel.....but the bill was a nasty sting that will not be forgotten.
Located in Podil, which is probably the nicest part of Kyiv, this hotel is up to Radisson Blu standard. Hotel is either new, or recently refurbished as both public areas and our rooms were modern. Staff was friendly, efficient and helpful, which has a big value in Ukraine. We had some repeated issues with key cards, but they were sorted out each time. The only major drawback for me was the window between bathroom and bedroom. There is a blind, but it's not a blackout blind, so certain level of lights passes through. Hence, when my friend went into toilet at 3 AM in the morning and turned the bathroom light on, it woke me up.
I would like to express my gratitude to the Main manager of the reception Timur Babaev, because he built up a very good team. He is very professional and a good person, always polite and answers all questions to clients. I always feel this when I face with the reception Ladies. Wish him a very good career and always good mood!
Spent the night last night at the Radisson Blu in Podil. Comfortable beds, clean rooms, excellent service. Had issues with our room keys, but management took care of it. Be advised, there is a BIG breakfast menu, but it is printed and laying on the table. We walked in and went through the buffet line to get our food...we were disappointed by the lack of some standard breakfast items (scrambled eggs, etc.) but after filling our plates with fruit, pastries and breads, we sat and saw the menu which we could order from. No waitress came to ask us our order. Nor did anyone bring us coffee or tea. Management was very apologetic about the breakfast issue. Overall, it was an excellent stay and we enjoyed our time.
I have been several times to Kiev and this is the first time that I found a hotel to my liking: Clean, comfortable and quiet rooms (a rarity in Kiev), very good breakfast, professional and friendly staff, and very centrally located. And no prostitutes such as in other Kiev hotels (Premier Palace, Ukraina, Rus etc.).
Staying at this hotel was a pleasant experience. The staff at the reception were very helpful and they made me smile all the time. Plus this hotel is located at a convenient place from where all services including transportation of all kinds are accesdible.
Apart from great location and very friendly service, the hotel provides excellent opportunities for international conferences. We have organised 2 events in June 2017, the last one for over 110 participants from business organisations from many European countries and from international organisations. We were extremely satisfied with the highly professional approach of the management and staff of the hotel, the very attractive price offer, excellent organisation and performance of all needed services, and last but not least of the very good catering. Certainly we will come back to this hotel.
Great hotel with a great location. High quality of the interior. Staff is very friendly and polite. The only one disappointment is the security. The security guys did not even open the door for the ladies overloaded with baggage. Even not to help, but open the door.... The rest was nice.
I stayed with a group in June 2017. The hotel is very nice, very modern, very clean, staff is very helpful and nice, and the breakfast is great (which I am used in Radisson Blu chain, I must say). Location is the middle of Podil, one of the historical areas of the city, lots of nice places to eat around, lots of places to see and a nice walk up the Andriivsky hill. Highly recommended.
On behalf of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry its our pleasure to thank immencely the staff of Radisson Blue Hotel, Kyiv, Podil for accomodation and organization events during 20-21 of June, 2017.
