Good located Hotel in the city center, good reach to all sight seeing landmarks. Comfort of rooms is good. Lobby is very small and dark. Cafe/bar does not have many seats and therefore is very fast fully occupied. Guest clientele is very mostly Ukrainian. Less international clients, although hotel can stand the competition with international hotel chains. Price/ value ratio is good.
We stayed for 4 nights over new year, we had 2 rooms booked for 5 people. On arrival 1 room was upgraded to a junior suite. The rooms were big and brand new very clean comfortable and warm. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. The breakfasts in the restaurant on the 15 th floor had everything you could wish for and the view was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble, the location is great right in the centre only a 10 minute walk to St Sofia’s. Anyone visiting Kiev should stay here I can not recommend it highly enough
Very impressed with the City Hotel. Great location especially if you are wanting the theater. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Superb room, very spacious. The restaurant on the 15th floor served superb breakfast with a view of the whole city, you must try the Kiev cakes. Made use of the gym everyday. Would definitely stay here again, hopefully for the Champions League final in May. Message to the cleaners "ensure you remove that plate from floor ten", its been there all week.p.s. the lobby bar needs more Warsteiner ordering in.
With western standards a typical 4 star hotel with a bit of design touch. Friendly and good help from receptionists to arrange everything from printing boardingpass to arranging transfers. The location is about 15-20 minutes walk to downtown (Independence square, Gum etc). Breakfast is served on 15th floor with a very nice view of Kiev. A nice gym with free weights, a couple of treadmills.
I will start with the good and finish with the bad. The hotel is located in the center of the city. The area is quite nice, many restaurants are a short walk away. The hotel is quite nice, room and bathroom were spacious. The front desk staff are very accommodating and tried to help with our only problem while there. The first night we had a room on the 14th floor right under the restaurant. Sound check started at 6pm and the band really kicked in between midnight and 2am. Very hard to sleep with the noise and music and singing. The next day we were moved to the 12th floor and it was much quieter but on our third night another party in the restaurant. Sound check started at 4pm and music reverberated through our room until midnight. Overall the hotel is very nice but get a room on a lower floor unless you want the view and can sleep through boom, chica boom.
Spent a long weekend in Kiev recently and decided to give this hotel a try based on a little research, including TA. My room was upgraded when I checked in and the room was great. It was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was very big and included a 2-person bathtub. The sleep quality was a little soft, but comfortable. WiFi was free. Elevators were really slow. Breakfast is in the restaurant on the 15th floor - good selection of America, European and Ukrainian foods. I liked to the location, too - near St. Volodymyr's Church and about a 10-minute walk from St. Sophia's. I'd definitely stay here again.
Very nice rooms, perfect matrace - one of the best! Delicious breakfast in the restaurant on 15th floor. Very rude reception. I really had a bad impression and left the hotel with negative emotions. Will never come back again.
I will start with the good things: it's a 4 stars hotel, its location is ok (close to the center) and the room is clean and big enough but very basic, it's a bit old, and the wi-fi is ok and also free . also the staff is nice and helpful. I didn't like its elevators - very very slow and old, the room also looks old and the shower is not so nice - but it works. you expect more from 4 stars hotel, you will not find wine glasses in your room or wine opener and the tv is small. i got breakfast in my room rate - but i really didn't like it - so i prefered to eat outside, it's a very very basic breakfast, if you arrive at 9 am you will not have much to eat, i tried the chocolate cake - and spit it out - it looks like it has been there for years... the coffee machine also very basic, also there was construction noise all the time there. in its price I would suggest you look for other 4 stars hotel...
i liked this hotel. it is clean, tidy and efficient. i recommend the stay there because the price is good and the hotel is adjacent to the Borough tube station. stayed there for three days during August, and would go there again.
This hotel is a step down in price compared to the nearby Hilton, and good value. My room was large, clean and well decorated. The bed was very comfortable and bathroom fresh. Really a very nice room. Pleasant view from the restaurant on the 15th floor (see image). Room service was fast and the burger tasty...I just wish it had been a bit larger! Perhaps the elevators settings can be adjusted to reduce waiting times a little. Front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay at CityHotel again.
