I recenty stayed here for workit is located on the end of the town and a supervalue is located opposite to it. I was met by the a lovely staff member Jackie he was so polite and helpful. My room was perfect size for a single occupancy, double bed, TV, tea/coffee facilities, and a good sized bathroom with bath come shower. Yes the rooms are dated but they are very clean and tidy. I decided to stay in to have my dinner in the bar which is your typical styled bar with bothtables and booths. I had the most gorgeous Mushroom, Chicken Tagatelle, great portion it was so good I ate more than i normally would and again Jackie and his female colleague were great so friendly and polite. Brekfast was serviceed in the bar, on a high table they had juice and cereals and hot food you ordered from a menu about 6 choices, inculding small to large frys, porridge, french toast, scrambled eggs and omeltte. The morning staff and the owner were lovely chatted away to you as if you were a regular/friend of the hotel. Up to this point I was very impressed with the hotel and especiall for a 3 star. I was finsihing packing my bag after breakfast just before 9am and the housekeeping staff just came straight into my room using their own key, at first i thought it was a guest as they were not in uniform, she advised who she was and how the reception had stated I had checked out, to which I advised obviously not and asked why she didnt knowck first. I have to say I was fuming with her I was travelling on my own and she just walks straight into my room. On check out I advised the staff who was covering the bar and recpetion to which they didnt realsie the cleaning staff was in the building and hadnt even handed over the cleaning room schedule. She apologied alot and I advised her I was extremely happy and impressed with the hotel up to this point, everything except for the housekeeping incident was top class for a 3 star hotel. I would have given this hotel full stars only for it.
Place to visit if only to meet Jackie who will give you the service with a smile. Menu is to die for but the Sunday roast is where we go for every Sunday we have also stayed in the hotel which is first class also so pay a visit Susan and Cindy
I ate here in January 2018. The menu is simple but offers plenty of fish and traditional fare in a pub grub setting. The fish dish that I had was very well priced, Hake with prawns on a bed of potato served with fresh vegetables, €14.95. The children’s menu was well priced too, with chicken goujons and a beef burger each priced at €5.95. The waiting staff were pleasant and there seemed to be a good local atmosphere in the bar on the evening that we visited.
The King of Kerry hotel just oozes good old fashioned Irish hospitality. The staff could not be more friendly or helpful. I tend to stay here when I have business in the area and if anything it gets better each time I stay there. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the restaurant food is good, but you can get that in many places. What makes me come back again is the staff, they understand the real meaning of hospitality and make you feel valued. Whether you are there on business or on holiday in the beautiful Ring of Kerry then this is a great place to stay and it's not expensive.
My aunt and cousin took me and my wife out for my birthday dinner. Alice and Marie who live nearby knew nearly everyone there it was great. The food was great, we all enjoyed it. Also dessert was ver good too. Great service nice people
The Ring of Kerry was recommended as the place to eat and has many 5* reviews on Trip Advisor. I visited the hotel with my daughter and selected tagliatelle for my daughter with sauce on the side and a dry steak sandwich for me. We were attended too reasonably quickly a waitress took our order and asked if we need two tagliatelle?? The food arrived and the tagliatelle looked nice and was a large portion with sauce in separate sauce boat. The steak sandwich was presented with ciabatta bread, onions, mushrooms and a small portion of chips/fries. The meal was also supposed to be accompanied by a salad that never arrived. My daughter started to eat the pasta after putting a small amount of sauce on the meal, after a few mouthfuls she complained there was little flavour, she applied more sauce and tried again. She again complained that it was not nice. The steak came as is, the waitress never asked how I would like my steak cooked, I prefer medium rare and the steak was well cooked. The flavour was nice and I shared it with my daughter, the ciabatta bread was flavoured with garlic butter and it was enjoyable, the chips/fries were average at best. We did try the restaurant again hoping the issues were isolated. I ordered a burger and fries for my daughter and a Cajun chicken sandwich for me. My daughter does not eat the bread so I removed the burger, it was served dry with no relish or salad, this is understandable as it was served from the children’s menu. After tasting the burger she left the majority and ate only a few chips/fries. I actually ate some of the burger as I felt embarrassed that the meal had been left. My Cajun chicken meal was tasty, it was a chargrilled with cheese and salad in a bread bun. The bread was slightly toasted but the outer edge was rock hard and I was unable to eat as a burger and I dismantled it, again sharing the chicken with my daughter. I must point out on our second visit the member of staff (a tall chap with a beard and moustache) very attentive and efficient. Thank you. The prices are reasonable and the seating areas are good a mixture of tables and booths. Would I try it again? Yes definitely and I would recommend to others, maybe we visited at busy times.
We stayed here the night before catching the ferry to Skellig Michael We did encounter a couple of hiccups but the receptionist was ready and more than willing to put things right. Wish I remembered her name, but she handled the situation Superbly Once settled out room was comfortable. We walked in to town that evening and enjoyed pizza at the Oratory
Went to kerry for 5 days Went on bus trip of the ring of kerry on Corcoran bus very good value cheapest bus operator compared to other operators Sailed on the lakes of killarney you are cheaper buying tickets at pier as we booked them on line and paid double for them as at 5he pier they had family rates It was lovely and would go back again
Hotel is well located for exploring the area, The Hotel is situated on the N70 itself, there are a few parking spaces outside the hotel and the hotel has a car park on the opposite side of the road next to Supervalu. The hotel itself is welcoming as are the staff. I found my room very dated, however it was spotlessly clean. I enjoyed a good night's sleep. The buffett breakfast was fine. WiFi is very poor, so gave up trying to do any work
had dinner in the restaurant, very generous portions of delicious food, from a well thought out menu. Staff were very friendly, especially our waiter John, service was prompt and efficient. Came out stuffed! I would definitely recommend this place
