I found my stay here comfortable and the rooms were clean. The only thing about The Ring of Kerry Hotel is that the decor is dated and could use with some modernisation. The hotel corridors had this stale smell that, to me, smelt like cooked fatty meat that hung around the entire time we stayed there. The restaurant serves decent food and you get a warm reception by staff. My room had a lovely view of mountains and cows grazing. However if you are unfortunate enough to be placed on the front of the hotel, your view will be the car park.
We didn't stay in this hotel but ate in the bar twice. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the choice was good. The prices were reasonable and the meals themselves were very nice indeed. To be fair there wasn't a lot of choice in Cahirciveen in April but we were happy with what we got. Would recommend.
I will issue our review on bullet point: 1) service in the bar was poor. Had to move twice to get served. 2) Wi-Fi is brutal. 3) baby bowls are charged far too excessively. When I buy my lunch i don't expect a 7 month old to be charged for two scoops of potatoes!! 4) beef was very fatty Overall it is very poor
Amazing food and service! We are from America and are staying in nearby Waterville and have been here twice so far. Highly recommend the pasta, bangers and mash and the potato and leek soup! Service has been amazing and grand dad is a true Irish gentleman!!! Cheers!
We have eaten here twice on our trip. Jackie aka Grand dad, is a wonderful host and waiter. He is extremely helpful with menu suggestions. His stories are entertaining and very enjoyable. Everyone here is very friendly. The food has been amazing. If you are missing black pepper ask and they will give you a grinder!
I stayed here on a Sunday night in mid-January, so it was very quiet. As this was a business trip, I was just looking for a comfortable bed and a nice breakfast, and the hotel delivered on both. Staff were very pleasant and attentive, the breakfast was very good, and the room, though basic, was perfectly adequate with a comfortable bed
Great little family owned and run establishment. We loved our stay here. Jeffrey went out of his way to help us with all our needs. I highly recommend them. Great clean rooms, quiet, lovely little place!
I was on a bus tour around the Ring of Kerry and we stopped here for lunch. Our meal was delicious and the service quick. When we made our next stop, I realized my wallet was missing. Our tour guide called the restaurant and asked them to look for it. Several days passed, I had returned to the US and received a phone call that they had found my wallet complete with all my cash! I was totally shocked. They immediatley mailed it to me and it arrived today. There really are good people in this world!
I stayed here twice before, I could hear a person snoring in the next room which was annoying. The bed linen was not clean so I had to contact reception about that and it was rectified. The food there in the bar is delicious but I was never tempted to stay there again. I would eat there but not sleep there. Nice clean hotel but I prefer to stay elsewhere when in the area.
This is a smaller hotel. Obviously for the price we were not going to get fine dining and luxury packages. What we did get were mostly clean facilities, a few hiccups, but the staff were friendly (despite my American friends being unable to understand the Kerry accent) and the breakfast was excellent. The room was mostly clean (behind the bed requires hovering people) the bathroom was spotless and the tea and coffee making facilities were perfect. I actually liked this hotel. There was obviously a few little hiccups but nothing that would inconvenience a seasoned traveller. The price was good, the bed was clean, the room was adequate for what we required and all in all Caherciveen is a pure joy of a town to spend some time in. I will be back and will stay here again without doubt.
