We had a pleasant stay here in 2013, however our recent stay was a huge disappointment. I won't go into every detail. In general, the entire hotel aopears very shabby and dirty, and our room was barely touched on the daily "cleanings". Maybe that explains the crumpled used tissues that were under my pillow when we first arrived! We were guaranteed free wifi but were never able to access it from our particular room (and hotel was fully booked, so could not switch rooms) Why was it fully booked? Maybe due to the party that was held there on Saturday night. The volume was beyond belief! In addition, children were allowed to run and scream all over the hotel, grounds and bar, at top volume, at all times. The staff were certainly very nice, but ineffective. I had the feeling they were undertrained and understaffed. I truly hope things can improve here, because the location is ideal for our purposes. But for the time being, we will be forced to look elsewhere. Due to our bad experience at King's Arms, we wouldn't feel confident in the quality of any other hotel in the Old English Inns chain.
I've stayed here before and it doesn't seem to change. It's tired and would really benefit from investment. My room was fine and the bed comfortable but every time the fire door outside was opened it made my door sound like someone was coming in. The bar had a reasonable selection of beer but the first 3 I ordered were off. Breakfast was ok and cooked to order.
Stayed for one night (not my first time)...greeted by Jack who was so very friendly and helpful, very efficient check in as we were quite late and got us a table ready in the restaurant straightaway. Our room was beautiful (room 5) very comfy bed. Breakfast was delicious and the ladies serving that morning (Anne & Nikki) were extremely polite. Check out by Christina was very smooth. Fully recommend this hotel, staff brilliant, room and facilities clean, comfy and reasonable rates, food varied, cooked and served well. Parking ample and free. Will be back for another stay.
We came here for a family meal. Out of 5 meals, 4 of them were incorrect. Items were forgotten from the menu and the creamy risotto was just bland rice. They tried to rectify their mistakes by giving free dessert, but we waited over 25 mins for this and even this was incorrect. Extremely disappointing, would not recommend this pub for Sunday dinner! !
Stayed here for 2 nights for daughters wedding.room was ok.but breakfast service was bad.one if my party waiter almost an hour for his breakfast. No apology for delay when served either.i ordered a pot of tea which I didn't get.so need to address this problem.also tried to charge one member of my party for a breakfast she didn't have.and tried to charge for 2 child members of a family for breakfast when it was booked for a family room.it was £13 but not the point.we spent a lot of money in 2 days we were there.i found a massive chefs knife in the drawers of our room where we had our 2 young grandchildren.when I complained the girl said "Oh the chef sometimes stays in that room.not good enough..
This hotel is tired and grubby and badly in need of refurbishment. Having said that the stafff, (Jack in particular) were very helpful and welcoming. There is no lift here and only one handrail and there are no ground floor rooms, so very difficult for people with mobility issues. We enjoyed a lovely fresh cooked roast on the sunday which was excellent value for money. With a bit of sprucing up and a deep clean this could be an excellent place to stay.
Stayed one night and was thankful it was just the one. Room was tiny, dingy, and very very old. Sagging curtains and threadbare carpet. Breakfast was like something out of Faulty Towers with guests lining up to complain or ask about their tea/toast/breakfast. The coffee was possibly the worst I've ever had -or at least the first sip was. Breakfast was actually ok when it arrived but due to a complete lack of crockery our toast was piled on the table. Awfully overpriced for what it was.
Stayed in Henry V111 Room at the front Large spacious room with comfortable 4 Poster Bed Bathroom needs major upgrade as does the whole Hotel.The parking was good and the staff more than help full Did not eat here in the evening but breakfast in the morning was drawn out due to the lack of staff although good when it did arrive [nearly 45 minutes]The position of this hotel in Westerham is excellent for National Trust properties and Hever Castle. Would stay again but only for 1-2 night stay
I booked in with the kings arms a little over two weeks ago, really easy to do through booking.com. I arrived at around 3 ish as I had a meeting the next day, check in was ok. I was told my room was on the first floor and check out was at eleven, breakfast was 7-10am. I noticed there was no lift, I have a back problem and it was really hard getting up the stairs and no one I could see to help!! I get into my room it looks really nice, clean and adequate. The next morning I come down to breakfast, I was greeting extremely nicely by a young lady, who sat me down, asked straight away whether I wanted tea or coffee. the continental was ok fresh fruit , muffins, pastries, cereal, juices etc. The lady took my breakfast and the service was brilliant and I got my cooked full english within 10 minutes or so . the breakfast was the best part. It seems outdated and tatty and needs a much needed face lift.
Lovely place, booked due a wedding we were attending. Booking in was easy, the room was spacious and clean. The bed was superb, had a great nights sleep. Breakfast was very good although it did take a while to arrive but this was due to it being cooked fresh, very good choice of options as well. All in all a great place to stay.
