From the rear door, you have access to a raised terrace that enjoys an outdoor dining set and countryside views – perfect for your morning coffee or an evening tipple.
Upstairs, you’ll find the master bedroom with king-sized bed, a separate dressing room and the spacious house bathroom. Subtle hues, high-quality linens and tasteful accessories create a romantic atmosphere and make this accommodation the perfect destination for your Lake District escape.

Excellent Cottage
We stayed here for Four nights over the Christmas period. The cottage was in an excellent location, so peaceful and quiet. It had a well equipped kitchen to enable us to make a full Christmas dinner. The cleanliness and comfort could not be faulted and we will most definitely stay again.
The treats that were left for us were really appreciated.

Lovely stay at Mill cottage
We had a lovely week at Mill Cottage. Everything was clean and we had all the home comforts required. The weather was kind and there's lots of places within driving distance to visit with lots of good hiking. The local pub was cosy and inviting. Overall I'd recommend a stay here.

Great Location
Lovely accommodation and a great location. There was everything you needed in the cottage to make your stay home from home. A peaceful park and very well maintained and looked after. The owner were very helpful. We would also recommend Tarn & Fell Escapes, for your holiday home rental in the Lakes, the commutation was excellent.

Mill Cottage, July 2025
This was our second visit to Mill Cottage, which was even more enjoyable due to a few small changes which had been made since our previous visit 18 months ago.

A wonderful stay at Ings Mill Park
We have previously stayed at Ings Mill Park but were attracted to Mill Cottage due to the very reasonable price. We weren't disappointed. The cottage was spot on in terms of cleanliness and facilities. Ross and his colleagues are doing a fantastic job and were very helpful and informative.
The area is great for the local pub just opposite and Windermere is only 3 miles away
We will certainly be back in 2026.

Mill Cottage, Ings, Cumbria
The property was ideal in every way, nice quiet location, good views and Will was extremely helpful with any small problem.
A tray would have made it easier to carry our drinks outside to the patio as there were quite a few steps, also a torch provided
in case of any power cuts.

Great little cottage in perfect setting
We spent a week at Mill Cottage and thoroughly enjoyed it. Located just outside Windermere in a peaceful location with great walks straight from your doorstep, it’s an ideal location. A short drive, bus ride or walk into Windermere and a great local pub selling good food, it has all you need.
The cottage itself was lovely and cosy, very clean and well equipped. We had all we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. We had no need to contact the agent but received a lovely communication from Ross checking all was ok, a lovely personal touch.
Would highly recommend Mill Cottage and Tarn and Fell Escapes.

7 day stay
Lovely cottage, spotless everything you could need, close to buses and local pub, although up a bit of a hill back up.
The only thing that could be changed would be a little fence at back between the two cottages as although this is a dog friendly cottage, we let our little dog out in the back for 5 minutes, we were supervising him but he lady knocked from the office at the end of the two cottages and asked us to get him in as she had a Labrador, she was pleasant and polite about it, but it made me uneasy to let our dog out again
Still had a lovely stay

Winter break
Another great week at Mill Cottage. Can't fault it. Ross is a really helpful host who ensures that everything is ready for you on arrival. The cottage is warm and cosy and has everything you could need for a self catering holiday. The weather wasn't kind to us but it didn't stop us getting out and about on the very efficient bus service. The Watermill pub was as good as usual - would recommend the pub quiz on Wednesday night. We will definitely be back.

Great stay,lovely cottage.
Second time staying at mill cottage, great location watermill pub across road great very dog friendly. Wilfs cafe at stavely also dog friendly. Very peacefull.
Bed was very comfortable, if i could suggest perhaps a couple of firmer pillows alongside softer ones you currently have.
Mirror in bedroom is quite high when you sit on seat you cant see in it, if it could be lowered slightly.
Toilet cistern constantly dripped which was loud
at night so had to make sure bathroom door was closed. Toilet flush button only one bit works.
Kitchen does have wide variety off stuff everything you need but a small air fryer might be an advantage.
With being dog friendly perhaps dog water bowls. Plus a small bin in back yard for poo bags that could be emptied at end off week .
But on the whole great litte cottage, near to windemere, Ambleside, bowness on windamere, kendal. Will definately be back. Ross great with communication and replying to messages.

Enjoyable and comfortable Stay
Mill Cottage is in a lovely quiet location in an accessible spot close to bus stops, a decent pub and a short drive from Windermere. A few problems with utensils were quickly sorted out by the agent who was polite and efficient. Problems with the oven took longer (I was there for 5 weeks) hence a drop of a top mark for condition, but all in all it was a comfortable and enjoyable stay. A lovely sheltered outdoor terrace with plentiful plants and garden birds was also a plus. I'd use Tarn and Fell again for another stay.

Mill Cottage
We had a fabulous weeks stay in Mill Cottage, based in Ings. We had never stayed here before, but we will definitely return. It is placed in a friendly village, next to a peaceful private caravan site. The lambs and sheep make more noise than the park, so it’s not a problem, and being able to have nature on our doorstep was a bonus.
We were able to relax and enjoy the area and we found Ings to be perfectly situated to explore the whole area.
Information and communication from Tarn and Fell escapes was excellent, they even called the week before, to ensure we had a smooth check in, which was easy.
The cottage was beautifully clean and well cared for, and had everything we needed for a great weeks stay. We will definitely return.

Ings
The cottage was immaculate home from home. Could not fault it. Ings central to all main tourist attractions also lovely walks.
If I had one negative it would be that it was supposed to be dog friendly. The garden shared and not totally secure. Also you have steps up to patio and little grassed area with at least a 7ft drop. We had to be with our dog on a lead as he thought it would be good to try and jump off the wall and also get into the field with the sheep. Would we go again yes, but not with the dog. Again lovely central home from home.

A lovely stay at Mill Cottage
We had a lovely stay at Mill cottage, despite a few rainy days. It was nice and quiet, clean and warm with plentiful hot water and just about everything you could possibly need. We enjoy walking in the fells and it really wasn't too far away to get to places, and only 2 mile from Windermere. In terms of any improvements needed we would say the dining chairs are not that comfortable and perhaps would benefit from seat cushions, and the electric fire works fine but we found it quite noisy so kept it turned off. And a few more more hooks to hang things on would be useful. But thank you, we would recommend Mill cottage to anyone, and would certainly stay again ourselves.

Lovely stay for our first time in the lakes
Clean, comfortable and well located cottage in a pretty and very quiet spot.
There were just a few little things which need attention, some of which might not bother other guests! We love our TV in the evenings so an upgrade to a Smart TV would be a great addition. We managed by using the DVD player (batteries need replacing in remote) and buying a few of our favourite films from a charity shop.
The shaver point in the bathroom didn't work so our electric toothbrush ran out of power just before the end of the week and the bowls are so small we couldn't fit 2 Weetabix in, but these are tiny things which obviously didn't spoil our stay.
My biggest issue as a first timer in the Lakes was the lack of a visitor book (sorry if there was one but I couldn't find it!). I really depend on previous guest's recommendations when staying somewhere new so it was a shame there wasn't one.
The pub across the road was great, we went on Wednesday because it's their quiz night, lovely food and really good fun.
Overall a lovely cottage in such peaceful surroundings, thank you for a great week.
