I stayed at the Knotts crossing resort in February 2018 and was found the accommodation to be clean and tidy, but very basic. The Fluro lights in front of the rooms are quite glaring and annoying. The food in the restaurant was mediocre. the service for the night service was wonderful yet the morning was not overly friendly.
Look, in Katherine you aren't going to find the Ritz, however, Knotts Crossing is everything it needs to be. Stayed in a deluxe motel room. The room was comfortable, with relatively updated fittings and furniture, the air con worked well and the room and bathroom were clean and well stocked with toiletries. Small bar fridge in the room and a TV. Surrounds were quiet and had a resort feel. Staff were pleasant and helpful.
Quality options in Katherine seems to be limited unless you pay top-dollar for the lovely lodge at Katherine Gorge. So I booked Knotts Crossing on-line via booking.com and expected a “villa” per my booking. What we got was an old, scruffy and dirty “caravan on bricks”. The decor was appalling and extremely old and worn. But the worst was the “outside bathroom” that was reminiscent of a hostel. We were astounded that this was our “villa”. After going back to the reception and saying we were under the impression we would have at least an on-suite bathroom, we were “upgraded” to a motel room. It was significantly better - whilst a little dated, it was clean and comfortable. That is why I would give this a 3 and not a 1. If you book this place, make sure you get a motel room and not one of their “villas”. I’m unsure who did the online misselling - booking.com or the hotel.
Restaurant staff were very accommodating for food intolerances. Good accommodation if you are traveling to or through Katherine. Good boardroom space if required. Breakfast and dinner wad very tasty. Would stay here again.
Stayed here many times over the last 5 years. Rooms clean and tidy but showing a bit of age. Still they are comfortable for an over nighter or two in Katherine. Staff friendly and helpful. Location good for Katherine as it is away from the main K centre and associated problems. Parking in front of room good. Restaurant staff really need some hospitality training. Food and service not up to expected standard for the price. Recommend the rooms but maybe eat elsewhere.
Staff lovely and restaurant/bar beautiful. The pool area looked amazing too but room was pretty average. Needs a good clean and upgrade ASAP . Tv was in an area that was basically unviewable and it was very hard to see from bed or table. I probably wouldn’t stay again
I've stayed here a few times because all the locals say it's the best. I've put up with the same problems each time, so that's it for me. I changed cabins due to the aircon sounding like an angle grinder, only to find the 2nd cabin was the same. So loud I chose to turn it off and sweat it out. The outdoor toilet/showers are dark and horrible. Although they're probably quite clean, they have a disgusting feel and it's made worse when the shower curtain clings to you! Inside the cabins you'll find and old bed, busted walls, curtains that are all missing hooks, old shabby kitchen cupboards, rangehoods with broken filters, a hot plate with dead bugs on it, tops of cupboards are dirty and dusty, the old Lino floor is stained and the floor mat is probably a relic. The kitchen utensils are stored on the bottom of a cupboard in perfect range of any crawling bugs. Yes, it's the Territory. But there's still no excuse for this crap. Nope, last time for me. I've heard there's a few renovated motels in town so that's where I'm headed.
We went here as the one "fancy night out" for our holidays... it was overpriced, service was not great, food was ok, atmosphere was ok. Some dishes looked very impressive but other dishes were definitely not worth the $40+ price tage. They were unable to help us keep separate tabs in our large group, at one point being told perhaps they could leave the note pad and pen with us and we could do it ourselves! Definitely didn't expect the experience we had, and we will not stop here again.
I stayed there numerous nights. Yes it’s old but it is comfortable. The bed has really nice pillows, which makes for a good night sleep. The air con is a little loud in the middle of the night if you are a light sleeper. I’m happy there, it does the job! I don’t recommend the restaurant, I had a poor meal there and never returned.
This is the kind of property Aussies flocked to for family holidays in the 80's, and back then it may have been great, but not much seems to have been updated at Knotts Crossing Resorts since. Although the reception staff were wonderfully friendly and the pool well-maintained, if this was to be anything other than a one-nighter for us we would have been looking for an alternate place despite having pre-paid for our stay. Musty-smelling, poky caravan-style cabins with outdoor 'ensuites' , dirty tables and missing curtains, offered hand-in-hand with higher nightly rates than incomparably better properties we stayed in along our way. Enough said.
