It is a nice small hotel. Rooms are clean, wifi is good. But price was very expensive ..92euros.. for a simple room. Staff was good and trying to speak english. Breakfast is poor. Just usual cheese and ham. Almost nothing else..
Some rooms have been renewed some not this is my second stay here first one in new now an older room. The older rooms need some work. Breakfast is ok. Some hotel employees are not friendly. The restaurant is good.
Was very hot in room. A.C giving warm air but members of staff where arguing that it's because of the location of the room or because we left the window open (we only opened windows when a.c wasn't cooling room otherwise it was like a sauna- but they used this to argue with us). Following day after leaving the windows closed and a.c on for the whole day we returned to room (it was so hot) and called them up but they still told us it's working :( - Very frustrating as they could have called a proper engineer and got this fixed as the AC unit needed a service! We could have stayed without the A.C by just using fans but it's the way they argued and handled the situation which put us off. We ended up leaving 1 night before which they didn't refund us full amount for (even though the member of staff said if you don't like the A.C not working you can leave). It's a shame because they also have good members of staff who were very nice.
On our way to Austria we stopped over night at the hotel beim schupi at karlsruhe germany. The hotel was easy to find and has good car parking. The staff were very helpful and friendly the room was big and comfy and the food and drinks were of a good standard. If we pass through this way again we would definitely stay here again.
Because we wanted to book something else than a business-as-usual roadside chain hotel on our way from Italy to Holland, we decided to try Hotel beim Schumpi. We did not regret our choice as this proved to be a customer friendly, adequate hotel. The room was just big enough, beds were ok as was the bath room. As expected, the hotel offered no particular luxury, but our room was equipped with air-conditioning and wifi worked well. Breakfast was also sufficient and staff was friendly. A charming aspect of this hotel is the beer garden (Biergarten), although this made a little bit neglected impression. On the warm summer evening we arrived it was packed, mostly with locals, who were having a beer and dinner. The atmosphere was relaxed and we greatly enjoyed our pleasant meal with, of course, some gorgeous beer. This is a typical hotel for one night, and it seems a particular good option for cyclists and for motorists driving along the autobahn.
The hotel is situated in a green neighborhood of Karlsruhe. Public Transport near. Good parkingplace. The food was okay not great. The only big minus at this moment is that they are working in front of the hotel. Pitty we were not informed in front. It is not nice to be awaked at 6:30 in the morning by trucks and digging machines.
Hotel Beim Schupi is a hotel , restaurant and beer garden with the hotel reception located on the second floor. It's located a bit out from the Karlsruhe centre but you can take a tram in. We had a basic room but it was clean and spacious. When we arrived we had been cycling all day and the restaurant manger got us a complimentary drink and a nice sit down in the sun before we needed to check in. The reception seems closed in the evening and the restaurant handle checkin. They stored our bikes in their utility shed so they were safe. They have a large beer Garden and Restaurant that can get busy so bag a table. We had a lovely meal and a few nice cocktails in the beer garden. I had a look at the restaurant menu and the food looked good although it was a nice day so everyone was in the beer garden.
Our return trip from holidays took longer than expected so we looked for a last minute booking for our family of 5. We selected this hotel on a booking website, using our mobile phone, avoiding cheap chain hotels and hoping for a nice family hotel. Although I told we found the hotel online, I had to negotiate to get a fair price. Then we got a 3-bed and 2-bed appartment in another building across the street. The appartments were very outdated, not at all looking like the nice bedrooms I have now seen on this website. No Wifi in the building. Matrasses somewhat worn out. Appartments looked clean, but my daugther got allergic reaction (dust?).Breakfast was not so bad, but nothing special.
Room was nice & clean. However, it was little too small - good enough only for 1 person. Add 1 more person, it becomes cramped. Staff was friendly - ready to help with any request. Location is fine, as it was close to my work location. However, getting taxis is a challenge. No market place or eating joints nearby. Have to travel to Marktplatz or Europaplatz area. Breakfast was decent. typical european!!! Wi-Fi connectivity was also OK. good enough for emails and making voip calls.
The room was nice, clean and cool. We were next to the road and didn't find it at all noisy. The staff were friendly. Paying for WIFI (even though it's cheap) seems very outdated. The only thing i'd change is to put proper curtains on the windows. Currently they're some lightweight fabric meaning you get woken up by light streaming into the room as soon as the morning breaks.
