This place comes highly recommended, great outdoors, plenty activities around the resort area,it's simply a place to visit for a family vacation, good rooms at the hotel as well and it's so conveniently located.
I've stayed here many times Hard to believe the standards have dropped even more. Smaller beds than before, No hairdryers in the rooms, non working air con, no safes in the rooms. Ridiculously expensive drinks at the bar. Non-chalant staff. The sunset cruise was attrocious and low class. The 'beach' is stoney and littered with debris which the hotel routinely burns on it. As a child I came here to lovely sandy beaches. There has been no maintenance of the hotel. The management or owners of this place do not pay attention to detail or else they are not targeting the discerning traveller. No value for money. The place claimed to be under renovations but the room we had was from the stone age. Even the staff are untrained and have no idea about working in the service industry. Such a shameful waste of good infrastructure and a prime location on lake. Nowhere near 2star let alone 4star. To their credit the room was spacious
I visited the place this winter. The place is undergoing a face-lift and everything is shaping up. You enjoy a wider view of the deeper end of lake Kariba and a boat cruise can be arranged. This is a lake shore rest-place which enjoys the cool Kariba breeze despite the hot weather in Kariba. If you are lucky you can view hippos right in front of the hotel. A nice place for retreats, break-away activities, workshops and holidays as well as picnics.
This place was lovely in its peak (according to locals that I travelled with) but now it feels like it is being run down and lacking atmosphere, which is such a shame. This place could be amazing. Pool area is fabulous with amazing views. Staff are friendly, food and drink is lovely.
Nothing bad to say. Enjoyed my two days stand there. Only one issue needed to be improve: the light in the bathroom is very dark. So, in order to shave the face had to take very close distance to the mirror. Catch your own fish and ask chief to prepare it for you.
I arrived here around 5pm, tired from the long drive from Harare. I was in my room around 8.45pm. I have not slept. It's now 10.45pm! The aircon sounds like one is in a grinding meal, literally! It could be used to torture criminals and terrorists! It's excruciatingly painful. I called the members of staff and they did not even seem to know how to resolve the matter! So I am sitted, wondering what else I can do - I drive back home early tomorrow morning... 😢
The hotel is dated (blame it on the Zimbabwe Political and Economic situation) and undergoing phased renovations. The location is really great on the banks of the Lake. Anywhere else it would have been a hive of activity. The hotel was quite empty in the last week of Feb 2017. The rooms are spacious with good clean bedding. The bed itself may need an upgrade - but is apparently planned. The air con worked well and the shower had hot water with good pressure. The staff are very good and service oriented. Breakfast was the usual fare in Zimbabwe. Good for a short business trip
I will start by saying that our rooms were gifted to us through a program we were helping city council with, so I have absolutely no idea what they cost. We were in a cabana house, which was beautiful, but incredibly hot with no air. The hot water doesn't last too long, but the shower was nice. The property was very pretty, and granted we stayed during low/off season, but it needed some work. Cannot say whether I would stay again because I have no idea what the value was for the money, but if it is under $70 or so a night, I would say it's worth it.
This Hotel is located on the scenic shores of Kariba dam, which is the biggest inland dam in Zimbabwe and Zambia. The area is very scenic, usual typical Zimbabwean customer care, Good food, neat environment. For those who like sailing, you have the whole lake and a lot of tour operators for that. If you are coming from Harare, there are lots of wild animals along the road too!
There is no "good" among the ratings, and rating this place "average" would be a proper injustice. It's by and large a good place to set up for a week, but it won't be a life changing experience. The gym is woefully inadequate, the rooms are not particularly "homely", but are spacious. The culinary options are limited and it begins to take its toll after 3 days. The staff is professional, friendly and helpful. That's definitely a strong point. The hotel offers board room facilities which is great for corporate outings. The WiFi is decent enough for business purposes or streaming your YouTube etc. The ambience is great as the hotel is situated right at the bank of the lake. In the final analysis, I would recommend the hotel with very little hesitation.
