For a 3 star hotel in Perlis I find HSM to be pricey at rm200/standard room per night. Breakfast was below average, room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom had no toothbrush and toothpaste provided, elevator had no lights and the rain made the corridors wet and a safety hazard.
Put up at the Seri Malaysia Kangar, the biggest SM hotel yet, very spacious. Even the room i occupied had an adjoining TV room and separate bathroom. A swimming pool for families qualifies this hotel as a 4 star. However, one funny detail is in the room service menu. While two columns denoted that the time to order was between 10am and 10pm, the last column showed that last order to be 11pm. So i called to order supper only to be told sorry sir last order 10pm! Didnt want to lock horns and settled instead for the Godiva choc pretzels i bought at the airport. But would have still preferred to sample the nasi goreng special as its glossy menu advertised Breakfast the next day was predictably SM but one item caught my eye: glutinous rice or pulut with salted fish and coconut flakes. Added a chicken sambal to make it a little spicy; this alone restored my faith in SM.
Some of the booking sites mentioned this hotel as one of the nearest hotel to the state's stadium but its not true. Actually its about 9km and its a huge problem for someone who in need of a public transport to get out in the early morning.
No hair dryer, and no coffee or tea satchet provided..only packets of sugar offered on the tray. Room service should prepare the room prior to check in and make sure all promised amenities are available.
It was convocation week when we try to book the hotel around Kangar and Arau. It took less 15 minutes to UiTM Arau. The hotel is easy to find and has magnificent view. The greenery hill behind the hotel and paddy fields are amazing. Fortunate we managed to book triplet room for 2 nights stays. Our room (347) not facing a pool and at the 2nd floor. Quite far from lift, but it's fine because we enjoyed our nights peacefully. Room is clean and comfortable. Has amenities such as kettle, iron, tv (weak signal for Fox channel). Unable to connect wifi, probably only available at the lobby. Bathroom also clean. They provide towels and has hot water. We took breakfast outside since we didn't see any rooms with breakfast during booking. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here. Thank you Seri Malaysia.
The room was okay, just the carpet felt a little bit oily (well, maybe they just finished polish, I guess) and breakfast is excluded. Price was affordable and the environment was cool. Recommended for friends and family.
We booked the family/triple room for our trip to Perlis in Aug 2018. The hotel was quite easy to find based on Google Maps. Location was a bit secluded and you definitely need a transport to get anywhere to and from the hotel. Our room was quite spacious and the beds comfortable. It was generally clean but the bathroom needed proper scrubbing and had shown signs of wear and tear. Hot water took some time to get hot and then proceeded to be quite scalding. As any other Seri Malaysia hotels you need to do proper adjustments of the temperature on your own. There were not many people when we were there and at some point we can get the nice pool only for our own. No pool towel provided. Breakfast was mediocre with limited choices but with the price I guess it was alright. Staff was a bit slow but looked friendly. Overall a decent stay, no frills kind of hotel. For Kangar I would give it a go again in the future.
I’ve stayed here for countless time because my kampung is in Perlis so I dare say that this is a pretty good 3-star hotel. It has all the basic amenities and most importantly, clean. My only complaint is that their hot water runs out quite fast especially in the evening when everyone seems to be taking their shower.
Husband and I have stayed here 2x in past 2 mths and will probably be bck again soon. Here’s why: PROS: 1) It was better than we expected the first time we stayed here 2) Have not been to the other hotels in Perlis but considering limited options, this seems to be relatively the best 3) Pretty good bfast buffet - good service too 4) Room is ok - not big but not cramped either. More importantly, the rooms we’ve gotten so far were decent. TV channel options - apart from std Msian channels, there’s also Cinemax and NatGeo so that’s ok. A/C worked fine. 5) As long as room is not facing swimming pool during holiday season (incl. school holidays), it’s quite peaceful. CONS: 1) Need to invest in updating linens especially towels and pillowcases 2) Water pressure is not great at times when hotel is almost fully booked
I had stayed at this hotel on 1st December. We booked the hotel 1 week before arrival as we had last minutes changes in our tentative. This is the only hotel that didn't require any deposit and pay when arrival. The room is spacious and convenient. The children enjoy the swimming pool. No need to worry about the parking, there were lots of parking available. The food is okey. The price is also acceptable.
