Very close to Hellfire pass and Death Valley Railway we had a lovely three night stay at Hintok River Camp. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the units ideal for us with their canvass structure and outside facilities. The choice and quality of food was also very good and we particularly enjoyed the evening campfire barbeque. Built on an old prison of war camp it was ideal centre for exploring this area.

I loved this glamping experience next to the river Kwai with all its natural beauty. The local people are delightful, so friendly and helpful in every way. The main man, Lam, whose English is very good is an excellent guide and nothing was too much trouble. I happened to mention that I would like a pomilo as they were in season and hey presto! sure enough one was produced for dinner that evening in spite of it not being on the menu - delicious. The camp was run like clockwork, is comfortable, lovely food and loads to do and see in the area. We were on a 2-day programme into which lots of tours and activities were packed; nothing compulsory but with things so interesting with all the history we learnt a huge amount. Dining in the great outdoors was lovely and there are no worries regarding snakes or other unwelcome visitors as the tents are secure and safe. The early morning 'wake-up calls' were however, somewhat unwelcome in the form of a cock crowing and dogs barking but hey ho! that is nature!

A nice change and something a little different on our holiday in Thailand. The tents were clean and comfortable. The staff very helpful and welcoming. The bathing pool and sunbathing raft were a welcome place after a long day. We had used it as a base to visit hell fire pass which was a bit of a trek in the heat of the day. The food was great although the one negative about meal times were that the drinks were a little expensive as was the transfer taxi fayre to the station in comparison to elsewhere in Thailand. Overall a good experience.

We stayed here for 2 nights. Had a fabulous time. Beautiful location. The food is amazing. Great tours and Lam our English speaking guide was the best. Lots of tours completed and worth every minute. Would highly recommend anyone looking for a piece of history in a tranquil location this is the place to come.

I will really recommend Hintok River Camp! We had a program for three days. It was well organized from the pick up to the drop off in Bangkok. Beautiful surroundings around the River Kwai, exciting to stay in a tent, interesting to learn about the history of the area, lovely guide who did everything to get a good experience for us, very good food for breakfast, lunch and the dinner outside at a campfire! The boattrip on the River Kwai and the following swimming was wonderful.

Fabulous location in the jungle in what once was a former POW site. Had two nights at the end of january and loved it. Not so much camping as glamping but still a long way removed from your hotel stay. Great views over the Kwai river, wonderful BBQ buffet dinners by firelight, superb trip by longboat to a floating village and a Mon village. Also the trip to Hellfire Pass was excellent and all brought to life by our most enthusiastic guide Lam. Also available is a bike ride across a suspended bridge and swimming in the man made rock pool filled by natural spring water from the mountain and filtered underground. For something completely different stay here for a couple of nights. You'll love it. Now for the downside. Not suitable for the dis-abled and if you have difficulty walking too far. Also you arrive there by dodgy open sided 4x4 s with bench seats which are bone shakers and leave your hair in a mess and your knuckles white. Even so - l enjoyed the overall expeience.

We stayed here at the end of January 2017 for 3 days. It's more glamping than camping and evening barbecues are excellent. The highlights of the trip were our visit to the Hellfire pass and museum, and the Mon village. Our guide Lam could not have been more helpful. His knowledge was excellent and his attention to our needs exceptional. He even cooked for us!

We loved this place and would highly recommend it. The location is fantastic and the campsite is lovely as were all the staff. The BBQ buffets were amazing and the rock pool is well worth a visit or 2. Make sure you take a bike and go for a cycle also - the locals are so friendly... and of course Hellfire Pass is a must

When you visit this former POW site it will open your eyes, you will see what our troops went through during their captivity. The camp is good, the food Okay with open air dining. All in all I really enjoyed my stay in a tent, it was so different from the usual hotel accommodation. The camp is located high above the river Kwai with great views over the river and jungle.

This place is all about adventure. You stay in amazing tents, shower amongst nature, meet the locals ( who don't have much), get to see the history of "Hellfire pass" and enjoy your surroundings out in the middle of know where. If you want pristine amenities, 5 star dining, butler service and room service, stay in the same boring hotels you are used to and don't live your life to the fullest. Leave Hintok river camp for the fun people!
