There’s a terrible lady at the reception. Not the one who checked in for us There was another lady who tied her hair up. She was on duty on 30 nov 8+pm. Her attitude is just bad. No greetings, no smiles, and she can even tell you she doesnt know when my husband asked her something the night before. Isn’t it just basic courtesy for the receptionist to check and get back if they have no idea instead of just saying they don’t know? I’m sorry but such attitude wouldn’t even be appropriate elsewhere and definitely unacceptable in Japan. The worse receptionist in our 30 days stay in Japan.

Great views of the city and Sakurajima from our room. Room was big and comfortable. Breakfast excellent, with a wide choice. Rooftop bar was very good, the restauant was also good but expensive. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. The laundry service was efficient.

The great hotel was recently built and very modern, clean, safe, relaxing and comfortable. It’s in a good location and we had an amazing view of the active Sakurajima volcano. The only negative experience we had came after staying four nights on the Executive Club floor we had to check out at 7am to catch a taxi to the airport. As the Executive Floor food service didn’t start until 7am, we wanted to eat in the Daily Social restaurant that opens at 6:30am. However, we were told we would have to pay extra to do that even though free breakfast was included in our four night reservation. We didn’t like that.

I had a generally comfortable two-night stay at the Sheraton in Kagoshima. The room was really well laid out, comfortable bed, great shower, plenty of space and had excellent amenities, so I felt quite at ease. One highlight was definitely the full-body oil massage I had—the therapist did a fantastic job, and it really added to the relaxation of my stay. On the downside, the dining experiences were a bit underwhelming. The restaurant meal at the Izakaya was just okay, not really up to the five-star standard I expected. The buffet dinner had a good hot food selection, but the fish station wasn’t restocked and was quite limited, which was disappointing as I was looking forward to that the most. Also, I felt a bit rushed at dinner when the bill was brought to me before I was even finished eating or had a chance to order another drink, which was uncomfortable, especially as it was only 8pm and not anywhere near last orders. Overall, the stay was quite pleasant thanks to the comfortable room and great spa experience, but the dining could use some improvement.

I stayed here 4 nights in 2024 - the hotel was brand new - and really enjoyed my stay. My 4 night stay this year was disappointing. the lobby furniture badly needed cleaning, the 'living wall' of plants looked like it was dying. worst of all, after a long day hiking ordered room service's "wood-fire burger" - for reasons that were never fully explained it took my burger more than 90 minutes to arrive, barely lukewarm. I ate it because after the long wait I was hungry but didn't much enjoy it. I complained to management the following day, saying i didn't feel I should have to pay for such shoddy service. He flatly refused, suggesting the late burger was somehow my fault because I ordered room service at reception. I ordered at in person at reception because because my room phone wasn't working.
