Do not stay here. The worst experience I’ve ever had. I’d give it a zero if it were available. The hotel is very dirty and run down inside and out. The grounds are not maintained, unswept and dirty with trash. Broken cars are parked on the property in plain site and half finished projects. The lobby was dirty and dusty with papers cluttering the front desk. My husband has a service dog, but the woman still charged us $40 for a pet cleaning fee. This is not permitted by the ADA law. The total for the room was $190, way too much money. The room we stayed in was 2D. It was old and dingy. The coffee table hadn’t been cleaned, it was sticky and dirty. The curtains were smaller than the front window, not covering it completely. The water kept running in the toilet. There was mold around the shower and the bathroom door was deteriorating from water damage. There was a separate room for the bedroom. The window in the bedroom didn’t have a lock and the screen looked like it had been pulled away by someone trying to get in. The bed was not comfortable with a thin bedspread. The dead bolt did not work so we just locked the one on the door knob. We should have asked for a different room, this was a BIG MISTAKE. We went to bed early at 9:00 because we were traveling early in the morning. I woke up about 11:30 hot and asked my husband to open the window and tried to go back to sleep. Dozing off about midnight I heard a car pull up in front of our room, car doors open, and people talking and laughing. Next thing I knew someone was unlocking the door to our room. My husband jumped out of bed and told me to stay in the bedroom. He yelled at the people coming in the door to get out of our room. It was 4 people. The first guy threw the door said it was their room and he had a key to the door in his hand. My husband pushed them back and locked the door. Needless to say we were scared to death! We didn’t know if we were getting robbed or what was going on. I called the front desk and asked what the hell was going on. A man answered, he didn’t know and trying to figure it out. He hung up on me. The woman who was at the front desk earlier came to the room apologizing that there was a mistake and they gave the wrong key to the other people. We told her we didn’t want to hear excuses and told her to leave because we were too angry to talk to her. Still too angry and felt unsafe we decided to get dressed, pack up and leave even though it was 12:30 am. We checked out and demanded a full refund. Never stay here!
The B&B we had booked had a plumbing problem so they booked our 2 nights for us at the Boulder Lodge - a name that had us imagining something great. At check in the lobby was such a dirty mess we had some real misgivings but it was late and we took the room anyway. We had a separate cabin with a wonderful view of June Lake! It went downhill from there. The steps up to the porch as well as the porch itself were iffy at best but the view was GREAT! We entered in to a dark dumpy place that was so rundown that the back area sloped down at least 3" from where we stood at the front door. FUNKY! The bathroom was more than funky, it was a mess. The settleing of the building had cracked the tile in the dirty little shower with caulk and grout all over trying to do poor repairs. Bring shower shoes! The bedroom was grim but the beds were OK. We staid that one night canceling the next because we would not have choosen this place on our own. Oh, did I forget to mention the rodent feces we found under the sink?
If you stay in June Lake, Boulder Lodge is the place to stay. I had a hiking trip with friends planned but got altitude sickness and had to stay behind. I chose to stay here and have absolutely loved it. Why? Because they were caring and kind. As I’ve been here for a 4 day, 3 night stay I’ve learned that it’s family owned and operated by the most caring people. They truly go the extra mile. They have made sure I was well taken care of and have everything I need to get well until my friends get back. They let you see a few rooms and pick which one you like best. Their rates are great and rooms are clean and well kept. To me, they have the best spot on June Lake, view wise. They have a big indoor pool with sauna and hot tub to relax and recover after long hikes. They have a cozy common area to gather and a spacious outdoor common area. I had a shared balcony with a group of fishermen who had nothing but great things to say about Boulder Lodge and their owners. One was 70 years old and has been coming here since he was 10 with his parents! Coming to June Lake? Want peace and quiet and the best views? Or have a big family trip where you need multiple connected suites? Don’t look anywhere else! Boulder Lodge is your home away from home! 💝
Grandpa & Grandma traveling with our 13 year old grandson. This hotel worked perfect for us. Our room had a beautiful view of the lake and worked perfectly for us. We used the swimming pool daily. Just a half mile or so walk to town or a quick drive for dinner.
We had such a great time! The veiw is amazing. June Lake is beautiful. We hope to come back here soon. Our family loved the indoor pool. The jacuzzi was the biggest I've ever seen. Such a cozy place and the owners are awesome!
Our accommodation in nearby Lee Vining was inadvertently cancelled so we managed to get this place at very short notice. The owner was great. She showed us various types of rooms and was very patient. Lovely view of lake from our room. Very good value. WiFi only available in or near reception but it was a minor inconvenience. Very affordable and good location to explore Yosemite, entrance to Park is 20 miles. We also visited Lake Tahoe which is about 2 hours drive. Ghost town of Bodie is about 45 minutes away.
This Lodge is in a prime location and in striking distance of Yosemite National Park. Sadly it desperately needs some renovation. However cleans the floors either needs glasses or a new vacuum cleaner, or both. In our room one set of electric wall plugs were totally worn out and any plug inserted fell out again immediately. The two bed bases pushed together with a mattress over both, were slightly different heights giving an uneven surface. Thanks for the coffee machine. But no cups or utensils of any kind. Having said these things, the heating was great, and the lady on reception very helpful and friendly. At half the price we would have been happy.
We were quite surprised at how run down this property is. The location is brilliant, the deck was right on June Lake and it's within walking distance to the local stores. It's clear they are doing some work on the lodge overall, but our room was quite frankly a fire and safety hazard. The sliding door didn't lock, the air vent over the stove hadn't been cleared in ages, the deck railing was falling over and the floor in the bathroom was coming apart. Not good. A real pity, and hopefully something they are working to repair.
Stayed in June Lake for a couple of days! From August 9th to 11th! Had a very nice stay! Although the Lodge is a bit dated, the accommodations were fine! Beautiful view of lake and mountains from our balcony! A few issues with TV. That was the only negative I can think of! Bed was fine, plus pillows too! Bathroom and shower was okay too! The staff at desk were very helpful with any of our needs. Very close to the downtown restaurants. I would stay there again if I were to visit June Lake again!!
I would not recommend to stay here unless no other option near Yosemite. I wish we had gone the extra miles to mammoth lakes. Very dirty. The mess and rubbish around the car park is horrible. We paid the extra for a lake view only to look at trees in front of the lake. We could not have enjoyed the view if there was one as there is no furniture on the balcony to sit on. The wooden railing on the balcony had rotted and was not joined to the balcony. If a person was to lean on the railing they would go through it. Spiders in our room. Dirty walkways, carpet coming up. This place is taking advantage of tourists needing accommodation near Yosemite and charging way to much money for a very run down and poorly managed property. We have travelled for 4 weeks throughout America and tried all types of accommodations along the way. We have paid as low as $65.00 for a clean well maintained hotel with basic facilities that boulder lodge cannot offer. Very disappointed the owners of boulder lodge are taking advantage of tourists.
