stayed here for a one night stopover in Johannesburg as part of a small group tour of South Africa in October 2017. Our visit here was brief- we arrived early evening and left next morning. We ate evening meal (buffet style) and breakfast in the restaurant- both were really good- the quality of food is probably a highlight of this hotel. Rooms are of a good standard, very clean and tidy and the location is convenient for the cricket stadium.
The hotel is beautifully updated on the interior and has an excellent infinity pool. I believe they’re getting ready to do a Tuscan update to the exterior. They knew me by name after 2 days, knew my preferences. The staff of this hotel is attentive to any issues brought to their attention. They went above and beyond to address the few concerns I had, kudos to Derrick the manager, and his assistant. Bar service & menu was nice, food pretty good. Location excellent ( Ilovo is central to everything, minutes from Sandton, Melrose Arch, Rosebank). Accommodated my meetings and work areas, in / near the lounge so I could still have my cappuchinos / snacks/ glass of wine, while working. Only place I would stay in future.
I really enjoyed my stay. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are clean and big enough with a comfortable work space. Convenient store thats open till late with a big variety of international items. Would visit again.
We only stayed here one night, in transit to our flight home, but the hotel was five star for us. I read the other reviews, many of which commented on it needing some refurbishment, but that was not our experience for our room. It was totally comfortable, clean and modern. The staff was great and quickly got to work helping me connect my phone to their internet, which included their having to call their tech support people.
A lovely hotel offering all the amenities with a friendly staff. They are connected by a parking lot to the Wanderers Club where you can dine as well as in the hotel. It is convenient to several lovely other dining areas & the wanderers stadium.
Great staff, every body so nice, I want to mention FD: Pomela and Lilly they are amazing like the Driver :Keiko made his job with the smile and so helpful. . Good Breakfast and accommodate prize for Dinner.
Other than the dated in-room decor and not having essentials like a Facecloth, I enjoyed my stay at the the hotel. In particular Carol, Loyiso, Thabo, Marce and Jacob were really lovely and helpful. The beds are very comfortable and the linen is great. The safes need to be bigger to accommodate laptops. But the restaurant is a disaster: I stayed at the hotel for 4 days as a corporate and was forced out of convenience to eat at this restaurant. And I seriously regret it. For breakfast and dinner, the staff were slow, moody and rude. No customer service at all. We would have to wait for 30 mins just to get a menu, contend with bad attitudes and excuses. David, in particular, was very moody! I ordered spatchcock chicken which was dry and tasteless. The Malva pudding too was bland and the custard watery. If not for the barman and Kabelo our team dinner would've been a disaster. The guy who "welcomes" you to breakfast is just downright inefficient and unfriendly. The 2 points are only for the variety at breakfast and the hot breakfast chef, Ayanda. This restaurant needs some serious work.
My Fiance and I chose this hotel for our 5 day vacation and somewhat enjoyed ourselves.. the hotel is convienently located, and provides a shuttles every hour on the hour to nearby malls. Reception or 'front desk' staff are very helpful and friendly however they do not bother to explain the facilities, activities, times on breakfast etc.. The rooms are reasonably sized, the beds are comfortable and in general we did enjoy our time relaxing.. However the service is very poor room service orders take up to 30 min even when ordering just a simple order and are very pricey. If you would like to have a drink do not bother to order from the bar, whether the problem being that they are understaffed or just basically unmotivated to serve patrons, you will wait up to 20 minutes for a drink order.. quite pricy too. In conclusion, the hotel is lovely, good views, infrastructure. Smooth check in and good service from front desk.. the Food & Beverage side definitely needs some attention and I would recomemed dining outside the hotel or visiting pubs nearby for better service.. Thank you to Maxson & Pumla for your help and good service..
The hotel is lovely and alright if you stay a day or 2 but I would not recommend it for a holiday over a long period of time. The reception and restaurant is WOW only the rooms need a bit of refurbishment as the furniture and decor is out of style and badly worn. Overall a pleasurable experience. Will return for business.
I booked a room on Saturday for Monday & Tuesday night. After they accepted my credit card I though a room was book, but on arriving they didn't have space for me. Thus they more or less told me to find other accommodation at past 9pm. The worst serve and help I ever receive at a hotel!
