What an amazing experience. From check in to check out. My friend had an operation and was treated to popcorn while we watched Roland Garros. Breakfast was delightful with a huge spread of jams (you need to try them all) overlooking the crystal waters of the swimming pool. We asked for green tea the first morning at breakfast and were immediately asked if they can send green tea to the room for us if we want to have some later. Their cafe menu is a must with the most decadent apple pie. Wherever we went we were met with smiles and always asked if there was something they can do. The rooms were spacious and the bed very comfortable. 8 min drive to Melrose and Rosebank with easy access to the hughway.

City Lodge Katherine Street's location is perfect for business travel to Sandton. Close proximity to Sandton City & Nelson Mandela Square. Rooms are more than adequate with Wi-Fi. Great breakfast buffet & room service from adjacent Carpe Diem Restaurant.

Ideal for reasonably priced work accommodation. Rooms are near and clean. Maintained daily. Light meals accessible from in-house cafe. Restaurant next to hotel and can deliver to room. Quality of food at restaurant fair. Fitness Centre in basement and not well equipped. Was an unpleasant gym. Breakfasts were standard and had reasonable cold and hot options.

The stay in city lodge was just ok not value for money you are paying for. Rooms were without necessary amenities i.e.without refrigerator and the cabnet for keeping cloths was very very small, so i could not able to keep my cloths properly. The breakfast menu was limited and preparation of omlet was bad for 10 days out of 18. The security guard (morning shift) used to stop us and ask some stupid questions everyday, later from his body language, we came to know that he needs money which we gave him on last day. He was really cheqp and irritating. This will definitely harm the reputation of city lodge. Even one lady in the kitchen was so arogant, on the first weekend i went for breakfast late after 10 min of the breakfast time. I just asked the lady cheif that, is it possible for her to prepare omelet and i was surprised to see her response i.e. "why you are late, you know the breakfast closes at 10am" For last 15 years of travelling, i did not got such arongant response even from the local (non branded) hotels. However, i would mention the name of one employee at receiption (his name is David i guess), he was very helpful and polite. The location of the hotel is good. Spar supermarket was within walkable distance and Nelson Mandela square and big mall was 2.5km from the hotel. So, next time, i would not book this hotel for sure.

Terrible stay ... Unprofessional staff at the front desk with poor English. Poor service at the hotel and it's surroundings. I would not recommend this venue even if it is a for a lay over. Staff were shouting to each other at the dining area. Unfortunately unpleasant visit. The City is amazing though !

A few things about my stay that I was not happy about. When I checked in, The receptionist asked my personal details of my phone number and residential address out loud. I did not feel comfortable divulging this information publicly when there were so many people at reception listening. I went for a cup of tea in the deserted "dining" area, and the cook and waiter were sitting and relaxing at a table, and they did jump up when I arrived. But they went to the serving area, and chatted at the top of their voices. It was very disturbing for me as I was having a meeting with a work colleague. The rooms and bathrooms were comfortable and clean enough but the carpet in my room had not been vacuumed

I was pleasantly surprised by a business stay at this small hotel located a couple of kilometers (walking distance, but taxis are extremely cheap) to Nelson Mandela Square. Rooms are nicely maintained, cozy and my two main items, a great shiwer and a comofy bed, are guaranteed. Although it is near a main highway intersection noise does not penetrate the rooms. Staff is friendly and the breakfast is great, and beautifully maintained gardens with large, fantastc trees ensure a pleasant atmosphere. A restaurant and bar in the property has great beer and nice food options with good prices. I recommend it and will stay again if I can.

Very nice rooms, friendly staff and good place for business travelers to stay. Central and close to everything as well as easy to get in and out of traffic from the lodge. I did not eat at the lodge, as I checked out too early.

We were bushed from a4 hours of flying so it was such a relief to get off the plane and right to the airport...walked right in literally, had a very nice, modern and clean room and a great night's sleep so we could wake up fresh to begin our vacation!!

Good value for money, hotel clean, staff helpful, access to hotel a bit difficult but otherwise good hotel without the frills everything you expect from a city lodge Left a day early, got a refund without too many issues
